Abstract
N-Sulfonyl hydrazones have been extensively used as operationally safe carbene precursors in modern organic synthesis due to their ready availability, facile functionalization, and environmental benignity. Over the past two decades, there has been tremendous progress in the carbene chemistry of N-sulfonyl hydrazones in the presence of transition metal catalysts, under metal-free conditions, or using photocatalysts under photoirradiation conditions. Many carbene transfer reactions of N-sulfonyl hydrazones are unique and cannot be achieved by any alternative methods. The discovery of novel N-sulfonyl hydrazones and the development of highly enantioselective new reactions and skeletal editing reactions represent the notable recent achievements in the carbene chemistry of N-sulfonyl hydrazones. This review describes the overall progress made in the carbene chemistry of N-sulfonyl hydrazones, organized based on reaction types, spotlighting the current state-of-the-art and remaining challenges to be addressed in the future. Special emphasis is devoted to identifying, describing, and comparing the scope and limitations of current methodologies, key mechanistic scenarios, and potential applications in the synthesis of complex molecules.

Abstract
A rhodium-catalyzed tandem arylation/cyclization reaction of 3-(ortho-boronated aryl) conjugated enones with unactivated alkynes is reported. By using a rhodium(I)/chiral-diene complex as the catalyst, the protocol was processed smoothly to provide various 2,3-disubstituted indene compounds in high yields with excellent regioselectivities and enantioselectivities. The approach outlined herein is appealing, as simple diarylalkynes, diakylalkynes, and alkyl(aryl)alkynes are the starting materials.

Abstract
The acylation reaction of BN-arenes has been studied using BN-arene and acyl chloride in good to excellent yields, which led to the first synthesis of indanone BN-analogue. The BN-aromatic ketone products have been characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy with their molecular structures unambiguously confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The annulation reaction of BN-arenes promoted by AgBF4 occurs in a completely regioselective manner and a mechanism for this transformation is proposed.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have been well-established as indispensable tools in modern organic synthesis. One of the major research goals in cross-coupling area is expanding the scope of the coupling partners. In the past decade, diazo compounds (or their precursors N-tosylhydrazones) have emerged as nucleophilic cross-coupling partners in C-C single bond or C═C double bond formations in transition-metal-catalyzed reactions. This type of coupling reaction involves the following general steps. First, the organometallic species is generated by various processes, including oxidative addition, transmetalation, cyclization, C-C bond cleavage, and C-H bond activation. Subsequently, the organometallic species reacts with the diazo substrate to generate metal carbene intermediate, which undergoes rapid migratory insertion to form a C-C bond. The new organometallic species generated from migratory insertion may undergo various transformations. This type of carbene-based coupling has proven to be general: various transition metals including Pd, Cu, Rh, Ni, Co, and Ir are effective catalysts; the scope of the reaction has also been extended to substrates other than diazo compounds; and various cascade processes have also been devised based on the carbene migratory insertion. This review will summarize the achievements made in this field since 2001.

Abstract
A new protocol for the catalytic synthesis of cyclopropanes using electron‐deficient alkenes is presented, which is catalysed by a series of affordable, easy to synthesise and highly active substituted cobalt(II) tetraaza[14]annulenes. These catalysts are compatible with the use of sodium tosylhydrazone salts as precursors to diazo compounds in one‐pot catalytic transformations to afford the desired cyclopropanes in almost quantitative yields. The reaction takes advantage of the metalloradical character of the Co complexes to activate the diazo compounds. The reaction is practical and fast, and proceeds from readily available starting materials. It does not require the slow addition of diazo reagents or tosylhydrazone salts or heating and tolerates many solvents, which include protic ones such as MeOH. The CoII complexes derived from the tetramethyltetraaza[14]annulene ligand are easier to prepare than cobalt(II) porphyrins and present a similar catalytic carbene radical reactivity but are more active. The reaction proceeds at 20 °C in a matter of minutes and even at −78 °C in a few hours. The catalytic system is robust and can operate with either the alkene or the diazo reagent as the limiting reagent, which inhibits the dimerisation of diazo compounds totally. The protocol has been applied to synthesise a variety of substituted cyclopropanes. High yields and selectivities were achieved for various substrates with an intrinsic preference for trans cyclopropanes.
