Abstract
An efficient divergent approach to functionalized naphthalene derivatives, the naphthalenamides, via base-mediated and silver-catalyzed cyclization has been developed using enone-oxazolones as the precursors. This protocol utilized base in methanol with heating to construct the corresponding hydroxynaphthalenamides 2 by a C-C bond formation, oxazolone ring-opening, and aromatization in good yields. On the other hand, phosphorylated dihydronaphthylamides 3 were generated by using H-phosphonate as the phosphonating reagent in a silver-catalyzed cyclization involving the phospha-1,4-addition/intramolecular ring closure with concomitant C-P/C-C bond formation in good yields.

Abstract
A novel, copper(II)-catalyzed cascade Csp2-P/C-C bond formation in o-haloaryl isothiocyanates with organophosphorus esters has been developed under mild conditions. A series of benzo[d]thiazol-2-ylphosphonates were synthesized in moderate to good yields. Different from the traditional method of obtaining these scaffolds with radical reactions, the method proposed allows accessing them via ionic reactions and has the advantages of easy access to raw materials and simple operation. Finally, we carried out a gram-scale experiment to further demonstrate the scalability of this strategy in the efficient synthesis of benzo[d]thiazol-2-ylphosphonates.

Abstract
AbstractRecent advances on the tandem difunctionalization of alkynes in the last decade (2010–2020) are summarized into five categories based on the type of mechanism: (1) radical addition and coupling for the synthesis of polysubstituted ketones and alkenes, (2) electrophilic addition of alkynes, (3) reactions mediated by haloalkynes or copper acetylides, (4) the preparation of cyclic compounds via radical processes, palladium-catalyzed reactions or conjugate additions, and (5) cyclic compounds as intermediates in ring openings. Herein, radical, electrophilic and nucleophilic reactions are discussed in detail. We hope this review will help to promote future research in this area. 1 Introduction2 Radical Addition and Coupling3 Electrophilic Addition4 Reactions Mediated by Haloalkynes or Copper Acetylides5 Cyclization6 Cyclization and Ring Opening7 Conclusions

Abstract
Visible-light-facilitated phosphorus radical reactions have been developed as a powerful and sustainable tool for the synthesis of various organophosphorus compounds. In general, these reactions require stoichiometric amounts of oxidants, and reductants, bases, and radical initiators, leading to uneconomical and complicated processes. Progress has been made over the past few years toward using reactions that proceed under eco-benign and mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, these reactions have broad functional group tolerance, with some facile and economical pathways. Herein, we summarize the discoveries and achievements pertaining to C-P bond formation through a visible light photocatalysis procedure with high atom economy, made by our group and other research groups. It was established that greener and more environmentally friendly approaches do not require an additional oxidant or base. Moreover, we have designed and synthesized a new type of P-radical precursor, which can take part in reactions without the requirement for any additional bases, oxidants, and additives. This breakthrough, pertaining to novel visible-light-induced transformations, will be discussed and a plausible mechanism is proposed, based on corresponding experiments and the literature.

Abstract
A highly regioselective divergent approach for the phosphine-containing indane/indene derivatives from the ene-yne-oxazolone precursors was reported. An insight into the reaction mechanism involving the phospha-1,4-addition followed by 5-exo-dig ring closure with a concomitant C-P/C-C bond formation was also proposed. This promising protocol utilized H-phosphonate as the phosphonating reagent in a silver-catalyzed or base-mediated cascade cyclization to construct the corresponding phosphorylated spiroindenoxazolones and amidoindenes, respectively, in good yields (up to 88% yield).

Abstract
Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic scaffolds constitute nearly 75% of small molecules which favorably act as drug candidates. For the past few decades, numerous natural and synthetic indole-based scaffolds have been reported for their diverse pharmacological profiles. In particular, indole-fused azepines, termed azepinoindolones, have come under the radar of medicinal chemists owing to their synthetic and pharmacological importance. A plethora of literature reports has been generated thereof, which calls for the need for the compilation of information to understand their current status in drug discovery. Accumulating reports of evidence suggest that compounds containing this privileged scaffold display their cytotoxic effects via inhibition of kinase, topoisomerase I, mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase (mMDH), and tubulin polymerization and as DNA minor groove binding agents. Herein, we endeavor to present a closer look at the advancements of various synthetic and derivatization methods of azepinoindolone-based compounds. We have further extended our efforts to discuss the pharmacological effects of azepinoindolones in the whole range of medicinal chemistry as anti-Alzheimer, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antileishmanial, and antipyranosomal agents and as drug delivery vectors. Our analysis of recent advances reveals that azepinoindolones will continue to serve as potential pharmaceutical modalities in the years to come and their substantial pool of synthetic methods will be ever expanding.

Abstract
Visible-light-induced C-H phosphorylation of para-CAr-H and heteroarenes was realized using cost-effective RuCl3 as a catalyst. The reaction conditions are green and environmentally friendly, using water as a solvent at room temperature and without ligands. A broad range of highly functional organophosphorus compounds were obtained via a cross-dehydrogenation-coupling (CDC) reaction. In addition, we also proved that RuCl3 is a photocatalyst via its absorption spectrum and on/off light experiments.
