Abstract
Computational study of some details of the cyclization reaction between 3,5-diacetyl-2,6-dimethylpyridine and salicylic aldehyde in an acidic medium was performed by the DFT RB3LYP/6-31G method using the Gaussian-2016 software package. It was shown that protonation of the pyridine nitrogen atom leads to a significant increase in the charge of the hydrogen atom of the 2-methyl group of pyridine and the methyl acetyl group. This leads to the growth of the methyl group CH-acidity and enolization of the acetyl group. It was also found that the protonated tautomeric enol form of 3,5-diacetyl-2,6-dimethylpyridine gives a stable pre-reaction complex with salicylic aldehyde due to the formation of three hydrogen bonds. The formation of this pre-reaction complex, apparently, leads to the implementation of the Knoevenagel reaction, instead of the alternative possible Claisen–Schmidt reaction of salicylic aldehyde at the acetyl group of pyridine. The possible biological activity of the previously obtained cyclization products was evaluated by molecular docking using the AutoDock Vina software. Some cyclization products showed higher values of the binding affinity with the selected target proteins in comparison with the known antiviral drugs Nevirapine and Favipiravir. The results obtained confirm the correctness of the proposed cyclization mechanism between 3,5-diacetyl-2,6-dimethylpyridine and salicylic aldehyde. This also makes it possible to assess the prospects of previously obtained derivatives of epoxybenzo[7,8]oxocino[4,3-b]pyridine as synthetic analogs of natural integrastatins A, B for further synthesis and study of their antiviral activity.

Abstract
A regio and diastereoselective strategy has been developed for the synthesis of complex bicyclo[3.2.1]octane scaffolds from the reaction of readily accessible vinylogous carbonates with N-substituted hydroxylamine hydrochlorides via intramolecular 1,3-dipolar nitrone cycloaddition reaction. Wide varieties of bicyclic isoxazolidines were synthesized in high yields under catalyst free conditions through a highly efficient and operationally simple protocol.

Abstract
Generation of reactive intermediates and interception of these fleeting species under physiological conditions is a common strategy employed by Nature to build molecular complexity. However, selective formation of these species under mild conditions using classical synthetic techniques is an outstanding challenge. Here, we demonstrate the utility of biocatalysis in generating o-quinone methide intermediates with precise chemoselectivity under mild, aqueous conditions. Specifically, α-ketoglutarate-dependent non-heme iron enzymes, CitB and ClaD, are employed to selectively modify benzylic C-H bonds of o-cresol substrates. In this transformation, biocatalytic hydroxylation of a benzylic C-H bond affords a benzylic alcohol product which, under the aqueous reaction conditions, is in equilibrium with the corresponding o-quinone methide. o-Quinone methide interception by a nucleophile or a dienophile allows for one-pot conversion of benzylic C-H bonds into C-C, C-N, C-O, and C-S bonds in chemoenzymatic cascades on preparative scale. The chemoselectivity and mild nature of this platform is showcased here by the selective modification of peptides and chemoenzymatic synthesis of the chroman natural product (-)-xyloketal D.

Abstract
The integrastatins, epicoccolide A and epicoccongirone A, are natural products containing a unique [6.6.6.6]-tetracyclic core framework that exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities. A synthesis of the common core of epicoccolide A and epicocconigrone A has been achieved using an umpolung alkylation-lactonization to assemble an isochromanone from which the bridged 1,3-dioxane was readily assembled. A different strategy was required to access the core on the integrastatins; an initial aryllithium addition to an aldehyde, followed by oxidation and treatment of the masked dihydroxyketone with acid gave the desired core structure.

Abstract
Two different approaches funded upon the intramolecular [4 + 2]-cycloaddition of in situ generated o-quinone methides have been explored to construct the central tetracyclic core of parvifolals A/B. At the outset, a cross-pinacol coupling of 2-formyl tri-O-methyl resveratrol with 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde followed by acid treatment was found to provide the desired tetracyclic core with an internal olefin. The requisite pendant aryl group has been introduced by a Pd-catalyzed direct coupling of corresponding diazonium salt.

Abstract
A green methodology to synthesize 2-organoselanyl-naphthalenes based on the reaction of alkynols with diaryl diselenides is described. The electrophilic species of selenium were generated in situ, by the oxidative cleavage of the Se–Se bond of diaryl diselenides by Oxone® using water as the solvent. The reactions proceeded efficiently under ultrasonic irradiation as an alternative energy source, using a range of alkynols and diorganyl diselenides as starting materials. Through this methodology, the corresponding 2-organoselanyl-naphthalenes were obtained in moderate to good yields (56–94%) and in short reaction times (0.25–2.3 h).

Abstract
Intramolecular annulation of o-carbonyl allylbenzenes was achieved to construct novel nitrated [6,6,6]tricycles having an acetal or ketal motif in good yields. The expeditious one-step nitration route provides 4 or 5 new bond formations, including 2 or 3 C-N bonds and 2 C-O bonds. The structural framework of benzobicycle [3.3.1] is confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. A plausible mechanism is proposed.
