Abstract
An electrochemical three-component reaction involving elemental sulfur is disclosed for achieving a metal-free, oxidant-free synthesis of thioesters in a high atom-economical, step-economical and chemoselective manner. A mechanistic investigation indicates that the use of elemental sulfur to trap acyl radical derived from radical umpolung of α-keto acid with an electrochemical design can efficiently generate a carbonyl thiyl radical, which can further be captured by diazoalkane to afford various thioesters.

Abstract
Hydrothiocarbonylation of olefins using carbon monoxide and thiols is a powerful method to synthesize thioesters from simple building blocks. Owing to the intrinsic challenges of catalyst poisoning, transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric thiocarbonylation, particularly when utilizing earth abundant metals, remains rare in the literature. Herein, we report a nickel-catalyzed enantioselective hydrothiocarbonylation of cyclopropenes for the synthesis of a diverse collection of functionalized thioesters in good to excellent yields with high stereoselectivity. This new method employs an inexpensive, air-stable nickel(II) precursor, which provides enhanced catalyst fidelity against CO poisoning compared to nickel(0) catalysts.

Abstract
We present a novel approach for in situ generation of acyloxyphosphoniums by premixing iodobenzene dicarboxylates and triphenylphosphine, resulting in efficient thioester synthesis (up to 100% yield). Stable solid iodobenzene dicarboxylates, achieved via carboxylate exchange, serve as hypervalent iodine precursors. The resulting acyloxyphosphoniums allow convenient one-pot thioester synthesis under mild conditions. Our method demonstrates facile acyloxyphosphonium production from iodobenzene dicarboxylates and Ph3P, enabling diverse thioester preparation. ESI-MS analysis confirms acyloxyphosphonium ion formation, pivotal in acylation. This strategy holds potential for combinatorial thioester synthesis and broader nucleophile modification applications.

Abstract
Herein, we provide a novel method for the synthesis of 1,3-dibenzenesulfonylpolysulfane (DBSPS), which further reacts with boronic acids to afford thiosulfonates. Commercially available boron compounds greatly expanded the range of thiosulfonates. Experimental and theoretical mechanistic investigations suggested that DBSPS could provide both thiosulfone fragments and dithiosulfone fragments, but the generated aryl dithiosulfonates were unstable and decomposed into thiosulfonates.

Abstract
Sulfur-containing compounds have attracted considerable interest due to their wide-ranging applications in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, natural products, and organic materials. The development of efficient and rapid methods for the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds is of great importance. Since nickel is inexpensive and has a variety of valence states, strong nucleophilicity and low energy barriers for oxidative addition, the construction and transformation of sulfur-containing compounds by nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling have become important strategies. In addition, sulfur-containing compounds have also been playing increasingly important roles in the field of cross-coupling due to their thermodynamically stable but dynamic activity. This review will focus on nickel-catalyzed construction and transformation of various sulfide-containing compounds, such as sulfides, disulfides, and hypervalent sulfur-containing compounds.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed desulfonative carbonylation of thiosulfonates has been explored. Without any additive, a series of S-aryl/alkyl benzenesulfonothioates were successfully transformed to thioesters in moderate to excellent yields by SO2 extrusion and CO insertion under the pressure of 1 bar of CO. The solvent dimethylacetamide (DMAc) facilitated this desulfonative carbonylation due to its high absorbing ability of SO2.

Abstract
Sodium thiosulfate was used as the sulfur source that reacts with anhydrides to generate acyl-Bunte salts, after which a reaction with phenols was induced. This protocol can be applied for the site-selective acylation of the phenolic hydroxyl group in the presence of other alcoholic groups. The advantages of this acylation method are operational simplicity, high efficiency, and the use of odorless reagents with low toxicity.

Abstract
A method for the synthesis of sulfides from carboxylic acids via thioester C-S activation and acyl capture has been accomplished, wherein thioesters serve as dual electrophilic activators to carboxylic acids as well as S-nucleophiles through the merger of decarbonylative palladium catalysis and sulfur coupling. This new concept engages readily available carboxylic acids as coupling partners to directly intercept sulfur reagents via redox-neutral thioester-enabled cross-over thioetherification. The scope of this platform is demonstrated in the highly selective decarbonylative thioetherification of a variety of carboxylic acids and thioesters, including late-stage derivatization of pharmaceuticals and natural products. This method operates under mild, external base-free, operationally-practical conditions, providing a powerful new framework to unlock aryl electrophiles from carboxylic acids and bolster the reactivity by employing common building blocks in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Positron emission tomography (PET) is a powerful functional imaging technique that requires the use of positron emitting nuclides. Carbon-11 (11C) radionuclide has several advantages related to the ubiquity of carbon atoms in biomolecules and the conservation of pharmacological properties of the molecule upon isotopic exchange of carbon-12 with carbon-11. However, due to the short half-life of 11C (20.4 minutes) and the low scale with which it is produced by the cyclotron (sub-nanomolar concentrations), quick, robust and chemospecific radiolabelling strategies are required to minimise activity loss during incorporation of the 11C nuclide into the final product. To address some of the constraints of working with 11C, the use of silicon-based chemistry for 11C-labelling was proposed as a rapid and effective route for radiopharmaceutical production due to the broad applicability and high efficiency showed in organic chemistry. In the past years several organic chemistry methodologies have been successfully applied to 11C-chemistry. In this short review, we examine silicon-based 11C-chemistry, with a particular emphasis on the radiotracers that have been successfully produced and potential improvements to further expand the applicability of silicon in radiochemistry. The use of silicon-based reagents and precursors for carbon-11 labelling has shown wide applicability and robustness with short reaction times using mild conditions. In this review, recent advances and future perspectives are examined.![]()

Abstract
Aryl thioesters are synthesized via nickel-catalyzed carbonylation of thioacetates with aryl iodides. Alkyl thioacetates undergo coupling with carbon monoxide and aryl iodides to produce the desired aryl thioesters in moderate yields. This catalytic carbonylative coupling process provides a cost-effective and direct approach for the preparation of useful thioesters.

Abstract
Sulfur-containing compounds are present in a wide range of biologically important natural products, drugs, catalysts, and ligands and they have wide applications in material chemistry. Transition metal-catalyzed C-S bond-forming reactions have successfully overcome the obstacles associated with traditional organosulfur compound syntheses such as stoichiometric use of metal-catalysts, catalyst-poisoning and harsh reaction conditions. One of the key demands in metal-catalyzed C-S bond-forming reactions is the use of an appropriate sulfur source due to its odor and availability. The unpleasant odor of many organic sulfur sources might be one of the reasons for the metal-catalyzed C-S bond-forming reactions being less explored compared to other metal-catalyzed C-heteroatom bond-forming reactions. Hence, employing an appropriate sulfur surrogate in the synthesis of organosulfur compounds in metal-catalyzed reactions is still of prime interest for chemists. This review explores the recent advances in C-S bond formation using transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions and C-H bond functionalization using diverse and commercially available sulfur surrogates. Based on the different transition metal-catalysts, this review has been divided into three major classes namely (1) palladium-catalyzed C-S bond formation, (2) copper-catalyzed C-S bond formation, and (3) other metal-catalyzed C-S bond formation. This review is further arranged based on the different sulfur surrogates. Also, this review provides an insight into the growing opportunities in the construction of complex organosulfur scaffolds covering natural product synthesis and functional materials.

Abstract
Silver-promoted sulfonylation and ring-expansion of vinylcyclopropanes with sodium sulfinates is established for the construction of 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes. This sulfonylation process involves a radical pathway, including sulfonyl radical formation, radical addition, ring-opening and cyclization. The 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes can be converted into other useful products.

Abstract
Herein reported is a nickel-catalyzed reductive aryl thiocarbonylation of alkene via thioester group transfer strategy by using simple and readily available thioesters. In contrast to traditional activation of weaker C(acyl)-S bond, the C(acyl)-C bond of thioester was selectively cleaved to enable this reaction under mild conditions. Furthermore, this approach features operational simplicity and broad substrate scope, providing a complementary and practical route for thioester synthesis without requiring toxic thiol or CO gas.
