Abstract
An efficient asymmetric synthesis of isochromanone derivatives was realized through Z-selective-1,3-OH insertion/aldol cyclization reaction involving acyclic carboxylic oxonium ylides. The combination of achiral dirhodium salts and chiral N,N′-dioxide–metal complexes, along with the use of α-diazoketones instead of α-diazoesters, enables the cascade reaction efficiently. A variety of benzo-fused δ-lactones bearing vicinal quaternary stereocenters were obtained with good to excellent enantioselectivity, bypassing the competitive 1,1-OH insertion and racemic background aldol reaction. A highly enantioselective cascade Z-selective-1,3-OH insertion/aldol cyclization of ketoacids with diazoketones involving carboxylic oxonium ylides was achieved by using a bimetallic Rh(ii)/chiral N,N′-dioxide-Fe(iii) or Sc(iii) complex catalyst.![]()

Abstract
Herein we report the synthesis of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine heterocycles via a Cu(II)-mediated functionalization of α'-C(sp3)-H bonds of pyridinylaldimines and subsequent cyclization. This strategy exploits the inherent directing ability of heteroleptic aldimine and pyridine groups in the substrate yielding the C-H functionalization of α'-methylene groups in a regioselective fashion over distant methyl or methylene groups in β or γ positions. The observed correlation between the nature of the anionic ligands (halide vs. carboxylate) bonded to copper and the chemoselectivity of the C(sp3)-H activation process points to a concerted metalation-deprotonation pathway prior to cyclization to furnish the corresponding imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine derivative. This copper-mediated C(sp3)-H bond functionalization reaction works for a variety of substrates incorporating linear alkyl chains (from 3 to 12 carbon atoms), and good functional group tolerance (aryl, ether and ester groups). Cu-Catalyzed C(sp2)-H cyanation on the imidazole ring can then take place selectively under oxidative conditions.

Abstract
A binary hybrid system comprising a hypervalent iodine(III) reagent and BF3•OEt2 Lewis acid was found to be effective for the diastereoselective α-acetoxylation of cyclic ketones. In this hybrid system, BF3•OEt2 Lewis acid allowed the activation of the hypervalent iodine(III) reagent and cyclic ketones for smooth α-acetoxylation reaction, achieving high diastereoselectivity. This hypervalent iodine-mediated α-acetoxylation of the cyclic ketone reaction plausibly undergoes an SN2 substitution mechanism via an α-C-bound hypervalent iodine intermediate. The diastereoselectivity of the reaction mainly originates from thermodynamic control.

Abstract
A silver-catalyzed nitration/annulation of α-alkynyl arylols is reported by using tert-butyl nitrite (TBN) as a NO2 radical precursor, from which a set of 3-nitrated benzofurans were synthesized with moderate to good yields. This transformation initiated by an in situ generated NO2 radical proceeds efficiently under mild and neutral redox conditions, which provides a new pathway toward the 3-nitrobenzofuran framework via catalytic difunctionalization of internal alkynes.

Abstract
Reported herein is an unprecedented synthesis of isoxazolines and oxazines through electrochemical intermolecular annulation of alkenes with tert-butyl nitrite, in which diazo compounds serve as radical acceptors. Notably, [2 + 1 + 2] and [2 + 1 + 3] annulations occur when styrenes and allylbenzenes are used as substrates, respectively. The latter reaction undergoes group migration to form more stable radical, manifesting radical route instead of conventional 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition occurs. Moreover, scale-up experiments suggest the potential application value of these transformations in industry.

Abstract
A novel, secondary amide activation strategy has been developed through the in situ generation of ylides from amides and diazoacetates. Under the developed reaction conditions, Mn-catalyzed ylide formation and interception reaction by sulfonamide delivered a variety of N-sulfonylamidines. Notably, when highly active Zn(OTf)2 was used as the catalyst, further N-H insertion products were obtained. In contrast with traditional methods, our amide activation strategy is distinguished by accessible starting material, inexpensive catalyst, and broad substrate scope.

Abstract
An unprecedented three-component domino oxidative coupling of diazocompounds for the efficient synthesis of α-azido-β-amino esters with non-activated dimethylamino compounds and simple TMSN3 was achieved. The main features of this method include metal-free catalysis, satisfactory functional group tolerance, general applicability in complex molecule architectures, and excellent diastereoselectivity in the presence of chiral auxiliaries. In addition, several related control experiments have been conducted to investigate the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
Enantioselective catalytic methods allowing the addition of both a nucleophile and an electrophile onto diazo compounds give a fast access into important building blocks. Herein, we report the highly enantioselective oxyalkynylation of diazo compounds using ethynylbenziodoxol-(on)e reagents and a simple copper bisoxazoline catalyst. The obtained α-benzoyloxy propargylic esters are useful building blocks, which are difficult to synthesize in enantiopure form using other methods. The obtained products could be efficiently transformed into vicinal diols and α-hydroxy propargylic esters without loss in enantiopurity.
