Abstract
A visible-light-photocatalyzed 1,2-arylalkylation of N-(arylsulfonyl)acrylamides with ketone-based dihydroquinazolinones is described. The formal C-C bond cleavage of aliphatic ketones is unified with tandem radical alkylation/1,4-aryl migration/desulfonylation to forge two different types of vicinal C-C bonds and construct an all-carbon quaternary α-stereocenter, thus enhancing the carbogenic complexity and tolerating diverse functionalities. Additional to telescopic synthesis and product diversification, this method features a radical dicarbofunctionalization of conjugated N-(arylsulfonyl)acrylamides with a nucleophilic alkyl radical precursor (dihydroquinazolinone) utilizing oxygen as a green oxidant at ambient temperature.

Abstract
A conceptually new methodology to give unusual cyclization products from usual migration substrates was disclosed. The highly complex and structurally important and valuable spirocyclic compounds were produced through radical addition, intramolecular cyclization and ring opening instead of usual migration to the di-functionalization products of olefins. Furthermore, a plausible mechanism was proposed based on a series of mechanistic studies including radical trapping, radical clock, verification experiments of intermediates, isotope labeling and KIE experiments.

Abstract

Abstract
Herein we report a method for the synthesis of α-aryl acrylamides leveraging polar S-to-C aryl migrations induced by a Lewis basic organocatalyst. In contrast to previously reported radical aryl migrations of sulfonyl acrylimides, this polar process enables subsequent elimination, ultimately leading to a formal aryl/hydrogen exchange including SO2 extrusion. This reaction is selective for electron-deficient aromatic groups, while tolerating a variety of substituents on nitrogen and in the β-position, and it delivers useful building blocks for further transformations, including cycloaddition and cyclisation reactions. The mechanism was investigated in detail using quantum chemical calculations, which unexpectedly revealed the Lewis base to be involved in several decisive steps.

Abstract
Abstract(Het)aryl migration has emerged as a key synthetic tool and has particularly been exploited for the synthesis of α-aryl amides. This method overcomes the existing α-arylation methods, which are not always compatible with the introduction of (het)aryl groups possessing bulky or electrophilic substituents. This review focuses on SO2-extrusive (het)aryl migration in the frame of α-aryl amide synthesis. Anion- and radical-mediated transformations are reported, including the synthesis of polycyclic compounds through cascade reactions.1 Introduction2 Anionic Aryl Migration3 Radical Aryl Migration4 Conclusion

Abstract
Herein, we describe the copper-catalyzed arylalkylation of activated alkenes via hydrogen-atom transfer and aryl migration strategy. The reaction was carried out through a radical-mediated continuous migration pathway using N-fluorosulfonamides as the alkyl source. The primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl radicals formed by intramolecular hydrogen-atom transfer proceeded smoothly. This methodology is an efficient approach for the synthesis of various amide derivatives possessing a quaternary carbon center with good yields and high regioselectivity.

Abstract
AbstractThe metal-free oxidative alkene methylation/alkynylation of 1,4-enyn-3-ols with an organic peroxide as the methyl source has been developed, which provides straightforward and practical access to the challenging quaternary-carbon-containing but-3-yn-1-ones. The method is reasoned to go through methylation of functional alkenes utilizing dicumyl peroxide as the methylating reagent and subsequent intermolecular cyclization/1,2-alkynyl migration. This reaction has an excellent functional group tolerance, broad substrate scope, and exquisite selectivity.

Abstract
As the "chemical chameleon", sulfonyl-containing compounds and their variants have been merged with various types of reactions for the efficient construction of diverse molecular architectures by taking advantage of their incredible reactive flexibility. Currently, their involvement in radical transformations, in which the sulfonyl group typically acts as a leaving group via selective C-S, N-S, O-S, S-S, and Se-S bond cleavage/functionalization, has facilitated new bond formation strategies which are complementary to classical two-electron cross-couplings via organometallic or ionic intermediates. Considering the great influence and synthetic potential of these novel avenues, we summarize recent advances in this rapidly expanding area by discussing the reaction designs, substrate scopes, mechanistic studies, and their limitations, outlining the state-of-the-art processes involved in radical-mediated desulfonylation and related transformations. With a specific emphasis on their synthetic applications, we believe this review will be useful for medicinal and synthetic organic chemists who are interested in radical chemistry and radical-mediated desulfonylation in particular.

Compared with all-carbon parent compounds, the different covalent radius and electronegativity of silicon from carbon generally endow the corresponding sila-analogs with unique biological activity and physicochemical properties. Vinylsilanes feature both silyl-hyperconjugation effect and versatile reactivities, developing vinylsilane-based Smiles rearrangement will therefore provide an efficient platform to assemble complex silacycles. Here we report a practical Ir(III)-catalyzed cycloaromatization of ortho-alkynylaryl vinylsilanes with arylsulfonyl azides for delivering naphthyl-fused benzosiloles under visible-light photoredox conditions. The combination of experiments and density functional theory (DFT) energy profiles reveals the reaction mechanism involving α-silyl radical Smiles rearrangement. Arene-fused siloles have attracted interest due to their promising applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices. Here, the authors report Ir(III)-catalyzed cycloaromatization of ortho-alkynylaryl vinylsilanes with arylsulfonyl azides via α-silyl radical Smiles rearrangement for accessing naphthyl-fused benzosiloles under visible-light photoredox conditions.

Abstract
A metal-free oxidative radical methylation/arylation of 2-arylbenzoimidazoles with DTBP as the oxidant and methyl radical source was developed. The reaction proceeds through a sequential methyl radical addition/cyclization pathway and affords a series of methyl functionalized benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-6(5H)-ones in moderate to good yields. Besides, the ethylation/arylation of 2-arylbenzoimidazoles was also achieved with DTAP.

Abstract
A copper-promoted oxidative cyanomethylation/ring-expansion of vinylcyclopropanes with α-C(sp3)-H bonds in alkyl nitriles is established for the generation of 1-cyanoethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes. This cyanomethylation/ring-expansion involves a radical pathway and proceeds via cyanomethyl radical formation, radical addition and ring-expansion. This ring-expansion strategy offers a highly atom-economical route for the construction of nitrile-containing 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes, which can be transformed into other useful products under simple conditions.

Abstract
In the past decades, significant advances have been made on radical Smiles rearrangement. However, the eventually formed radical intermediates in these reactions are limited to the amidyl radical, except for the few examples initiated by a N-centered radical. Here, a novel and practical radical Smiles rearrangement triggered by photoredox-catalyzed regioselective ketyl-ynamide coupling is reported, which represents the first radical Smiles rearrangement of ynamides. This method enables facile access to a variety of valuable 2-benzhydrylindoles with broad substrate scope in generally good yields under mild reaction conditions. In addition, this chemistry can also be extended to the divergent synthesis of versatile 3-benzhydrylisoquinolines through a similar ketyl-ynamide coupling and radical Smiles rearrangement, followed by dehydrogenative oxidation. Moreover, such an ynamide Smiles rearrangement initiated by intermolecular photoredox catalysis via addition of external radical sources is also achieved. By control experiments, the reaction was shown to proceed via key ketyl radical and α-imino carbon radical intermediates.

Abstract
Polycyclic indole scaffolds are ubiquitous in pharmaceuticals and natural products and in materials science. Here, we present a visible-light-initiated intramolecular aryl migration/desulfonylation/cyclization cascade reaction for the synthesis of tetracyclic indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-6(5H)-ones. This protocol not only exhibited a wide substrate scope but also provided a mild route to access a variety of tetracyclic N-fused indoles.

Abstract
Trifluoromethylative difunctionalization and hydrofunctionalization of unactivated alkenes have been developed into powerful synthetic methodologies. On the other hand, methylative difunctionalization of olefins remains an unexplored research field. We report in this paper the Cu-catalyzed alkoxy methylation, azido methylation of alkenes using dicumyl peroxide (DCP), and di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) as methyl sources. Using functionalized alkenes bearing a tethered nucleophile (alcohol, carboxylic acid, and sulfonamide), methylative cycloetherification, lactonization, and cycloamination processes are subsequently developed for the construction of important heterocycles such as 2,2-disubstituted tetrahydrofurans, tetrahydropyrans, γ-lactones, and pyrrolidines with concurrent generation of a quaternary carbon center. The results of control experiments suggest that the 1,2-alkoxy methylation of alkenes goes through a radical-cation crossover mechanism, whereas the 1,2-azido methylation proceeds via a radical addition and Cu-mediated azide transfer process. While the trifluoromethylative difunctionalization of unactivated alkenes has been largely explored, methylative difunctionalization remains underinvestigated. Here, the authors report copper-catalyzed alkoxy- and azido-methylation reactions of alkenes leading to important synthetic building blocks and valuable O- and N-heterocycles.

Abstract
We developed a direct vicinal difunctionalization of alkenes with iodine and TBHP at room temperature. This iodination and peroxidation in a one-pot synthesis produces 1-(tert-butylperoxy)-2-iodoethanes, which are inaccessible through conventional synthetic methods. This method generates multiple radical intermediates in situ and has excellent regioselectivity, a broad substrate scope and mild conditions. The iodine and peroxide groups of 1-(tert-butylperoxy)-2-iodoethanes have several potential applications and allow further chemical modifications, enabling the preparation of synthetically valuable molecules.

Abstract
An effective and practical CuI-catalyzed methodology toward N-alkyl or N-methyl phosphonamides and phosphinamides was herein demonstrated. The transformation took place readily under the oxidative conditions, and plenty of N-alkylated (methylated) amides (30 examples) were successfully furnished in high efficiency (up to 92% yields). Dicumyl peroxide was considered to act either as the oxidant for the alkylation reaction or as methyl donator for the methylation protocol.
