Abstract
This study demonstrates the rearrangement of C2-spirooxindoles to the 2-hydroxyhemi-indigo and chromenoindole. The N-H-spirooxindole exhibits double proton translocation and its conversion to the (Z)-2-hydroxyhemi-indigo photoswitch with trifluoroacetic acid, while the N-methyl-spirooxindole undergoes structural rearrangement to the chromenoindole. The mechanism of the reactions was proposed, and the structure of the products was confirmed by one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) NMR spectra and X-ray structure analysis. The photoswitching performance of (Z)-2-hydroxyhemi-indigo, which allows the stabilization of the E-switched form by intramolecular hydrogen bonding, has been studied in solvents of different polarities. It was found that in the less polar solvents, the E-switched metastable isomer is characterized by high stability.

Abstract
3-Diazoindolin-2-imines reacted with nitrones to furnish 2-iminoindolin-3-ones through a Au(I)-catalyzed cascade oxygen transfer/imine exchange process. The prepared 2-iminoindolin-3-ones could be further transformed into 2-alknyl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones through a Ag(I)-catalyzed reaction with terminal alkynes. A MeOH-triggered ring expansion mechanism involving cyclic iminium formation and nucleophilic addition is proposed for this novel alkynylation reaction. This two-step procedure provides a general and convenient approach to 2-alknyl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones, which are privileged structures in medicinal chemistry.

A novel rhodium(ii)-catalyzed divergent intramolecular tandem cyclization of N- or O-tethered cyclohexa-2,5-dienones and 1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazole is disclosed, affording cyclopropa[cd]indole and benzofuran derivatives in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
A highly diastereoselective rhodium(II)-catalyzed transannulation of aldehyde-tethered N-sulfonyl triazoles with electron-rich aromatic nucleophiles is reported for the first time to afford functionalized 6-substituted piperidin-3-ones. The reaction has a broad substrate scope including both aliphatic and aromatic N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles together with various aromatic nucleophiles. The addition of a catalytic amount of Lewis acid has proven to be crucial for the yield improvement. By employing this methodology, hardly accessible piperidin-3-ones bearing quaternary carbons could be obtained.
