Abstract
A class of chiral-bridged biphenyl phosphine-carboxylate bifunctional ligands CB-Phos has been developed and successfully applied to Pd(0)-catalyzed single enantioselective C-H arylation and a one pot cascade reaction involving Suzuki cross-coupling and C-H arylation. The catalytic system provides a new and convenient way for the synthesis of versatile chiral dihydrophenanthridines with rich structures and broad functional group tolerance. Good to excellent yields with high enantioselectivities were generally achieved. The reaction mechanism of the cascade reaction was also preliminarily discussed.

Abstract
We herein report a general and efficient enantioselective C-H arylation of aryl bromides based on the use of BozPhos as the bisphosphine ligand and SP-NHC-PdII as recoverable heterogeneous catalyst. By exploiting the "release and catch" mechanism of action of the catalytic system, we used BozPhos as a broadly applicable chiral ligand, furnishing high enantioselectivities across all types of examined substrates containing methyl, cyclopropyl and aryl C-H bonds. For each reaction, the reaction scope was investigated, giving rise to 30 enantioenriched products, obtained with high yields and enantioselectivities, and minimal palladium leaching. The developed catalytic system provides a more sustainable solution compared to homogeneous systems for the synthesis of high added-value chiral products through recycling of the precious metal.

Abstract
Cyclopropanes are important substructures in natural products and pharmaceuticals. Although traditional methods for their incorporation rely on cyclopropanation of an existing scaffold, the advent of transition-metal catalysis has enabled installation of functionalized cyclopropanes using cross-coupling reactions. The unique bonding and structural properties of cyclopropane render it more easily functionalized in transition-metal-catalysed cross-couplings than other C(sp3) substrates. The cyclopropane coupling partner can participate in polar cross-coupling reactions either as a nucleophile (organometallic reagents) or as an electrophile (cyclopropyl halides). More recently, single-electron transformations featuring cyclopropyl radicals have emerged. This Review will provide an overview of transition-metal-catalysed C-C bond formation reactions at cyclopropane, covering both traditional and current strategies, and the benefits and limitations of each.

Abstract
In the past few decades, processes that involve transition-metal catalysis have represented a major part of the synthetic chemist's toolbox. Recently, the interest has shifted from the well-established cross-coupling reactions to C-H bond functionalization, thus making it a current frontier of transition-metal-catalyzed reactions. Constant progress in this field has led to the discovery of enantioselective methods to generate and control various types of stereogenic elements, thereby demonstrating its high value to generate scalemic chiral molecules. The present review is dedicated to enantioselective Pd0 -catalyzed C-H activation, which may be considered as an evolution of Pd0 -catalyzed cross-couplings, with a focus on the different chiral ligands and catalysts that enable these transformations.

Abstract
Phosphines are widely used ligands in transition metal-catalyzed reactions.
Arylphosphines, such as triphenylphosphine, were among the first phosphines to show
broad utility in catalysis. Beginning in the late 1990s, sterically demanding and electronrich
trialkylphosphines began to receive attention as supporting ligands. These ligands
were found to be particularly effective at promoting oxidative addition in cross-coupling
of aryl halides. With electron-rich, sterically demanding ligands, such as tri-tertbutylphosphine,
coupling of aryl bromides could be achieved at room temperature. More
importantly, the less reactive, but more broadly available, aryl chlorides became accessible
substrates. Tri-tert-butylphosphine has become a privileged ligand that has found application
in a wide range of late transition-metal catalyzed coupling reactions. This success
has led to the use of numerous monodentate trialkylphosphines in cross-coupling reactions. This review
will discuss the general properties and features of monodentate trialkylphosphines and their application in
cross-coupling reactions of C–X and C–H bonds.

Abstract
The bisphosphine monoxide ( R, R)-BozPhos enables enantioselective C-H functionalization of cyclopropanes in a palladium-catalyzed cyclization. The synthesis of a broad spectrum of dihydroisoquinolones and dihydroquinolones in good yields and high enantiomeric excess was achieved through the use of this hemilabile ligand. Furthermore, the isolation of an intermediary palladium(II)-BozPhos complex after oxidative addition was successful and a second complex provided further insight into bond length and angles through a crystal structure.

Abstract
A new methodology for site-selective and stereoselective C-H functionalization of aminocyclopropanes via directed remote lithiation has been developed. Treatment of N-directing group (DG = pivaloyl, tetramethylsuccinimidoyl) arylcyclopropanes with t-BuLi results in a clean β-lithiation and, following quench with electrophiles, leads to a range of cyclopropane derivatives. Sequential double lithiation-methylation to give a dimethylated cyclopropane has been achieved. X-ray, NMR, and computational studies allow rationalization of syn-DG β-deprotonation selectivity via a DG-lithium base coordinated complex.

Abstract
PdII -catalyzed enantioselective C(sp3 )-H cross-coupling of free carboxylic acids with organoborons has been realized using either mono-protected amino acid (MPAA) ligands or mono-protected aminoethyl amine (MPAAM) ligands. A diverse range of aryl- and vinyl-boron reagents can be used as coupling partners to provide chiral carboxylic acids. This reaction provides an alternative approach to the enantioselective synthesis of cyclopropanecarboxylic acids and cyclobutanecarboxylic acids containing α-chiral tertiary and quaternary stereocenters. The utility of this reaction was further demonstrated by converting the carboxylic acid into cyclopropyl amine without loss of optical activity.

Abstract
Cross-coupling reactions, which were discovered almost 50 years ago, are widely used in both industry and academia. Even though cross-coupling reactions now represent mature technology, there is still a significant amount of research in this area that aims to improve the scope of these reactions, develop more efficient catalysts, and make reactions more practical. In this tutorial, a brief background to cross-coupling reactions is provided, and then the major advances in cross-coupling research over the last 20 years are described. These include the development of improved ligands and precatalysts for cross-coupling and the extension of cross-coupling reactions to a much wider range of electrophiles. For example, cross-coupling reactions are now common with sp3-hybridized electrophiles as well as ester, amide, ether, and aziridine substrates. For many of these more modern substrates, traditional palladium-based catalysts are less efficient than systems based on first-row transition metals such as nickel. Conventional cross-coupling reactions have also inspired the development of a range of related reactions, such as cross-electrophile and decarboxylative couplings as well as couplings based on metallaphotoredox chemistry. The development of these new reactions is probably at the same stage as traditional cross-coupling reactions 30 years ago, and this tutorial highlights how many of the same strategies used to improve cross-coupling reactions may also be applicable to making the new reactions more practical.

Abstract
A monoprotected aminoethyl amine chiral ligand based on an ethylenediamine backbone was developed to achieve Pd-catalyzed enantioselective C(sp3)-H arylation of cyclopropanecarboxylic and 2-aminoisobutyric acids without using exogenous directing groups. This new chiral catalyst affords new disconnection for preparing diverse chiral carboxylic acids from simple starting materials that are complementary to the various ring forming approaches.

Abstract
Pd(II)-catalyzed enantioselective γ-C(sp3)-H cross-coupling of alkyl amines via desymmetrization and kinetic resolution has been realized for the first time using chiral acetyl-protected aminomethyl oxazoline ligands (APAO). A diverse range of aryl- and vinyl-boron reagents can be used as coupling partners. The chiral γ-arylated alkylamine products are further transformed into chiral 2-substituted 1,2,3,4-tetra-hydroquinolines and spiro-pyrrolidines as important structural motifs in natural products and biologically active molecules.

Abstract
An enantioselective C-H functionalization route to perfluoroalkyl-containing 3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexanes is disclosed. A modular and bench-stable diazaphospholane ligand enables highly enantioselective Pd(0)-catalyzed cyclopropane C-H functionalization using trifluoroacetimidoyl chlorides as electrophilic partners. In turn, the resulting cyclic ketimine products react smoothly with a broad variety of nucleophiles in one-pot processes enabling the rapid and modular construction of heavily substituted pyrrolidines.

Abstract
The catalytic activation and functionalization of unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds of alkyl groups has undergone intense development in recent years. In particular, a variety of directing groups as well as native functional groups have been employed in combination with palladium(II) catalysis in order to perform a variety of intermolecular, and to some extent intramolecular reactions. In parallel, inspired by precedents in C(sp2)-H arylation, our group and others have developed a different approach, which is the focus of this Account. This strategy relies on the use of oxidative addition of a carbon-leaving group bond to palladium(0) to induce intramolecular C(sp3)-H activation and the subsequent formation of a C(sp2)-C(sp3) or C(sp3)-C(sp3) bond. Since our first publication in 2003, the construction of olefins and, more interestingly, of an array of valuable monocyclic and polycyclic systems has been reported according to this principle. (Hetero)aryl bromides were initially employed as reactants, but the scope was later expanded to include (hetero)aryl chlorides and triflates, alkenyl bromides, carbamoyl chlorides and α-chloroamides. Mechanistic studies enabled a better understanding of the C-H activation step, which was proposed to occur through ambiphilic metal-ligand activation-6 (AMLA-6), also known as concerted metalation deprotonation (CMD), and a better rationalization of the observed selectivity patterns. Moreover, the wealth of accumulated experimental data indicate that the number of atoms separating the C-H bond from Pd and the type of C-H bond are the main factors controlling the site-selectivity of the C-H bond cleavage. Recent efforts have been devoted to the development of enantioselective reactions. To this purpose, two different strategies have been employed: a chiral ancillary ligand in combination with an achiral base, and a chiral base in combination with an achiral ligand, and allowed for the achievement of high enantioselectivities in the construction of both tri- and tetrasubstituted stereocenters. On the other hand, the current C-H activation-based ring-forming method was applied to the synthesis of pharmacologically active substances and agrochemicals, as well as complex natural products such as the aeruginosins, thereby demonstrating its great potential for step-economical organic synthesis.
