Abstract
Iridium-catalyzed sp3 C-H alkylation of an N-methyl group with 1,5- and 1,6-dienes proceeded to give five- and six-membered carbocyclic compounds, respectively, in high yields. The reaction involves intermolecular alkylation of the N-methyl group with a vinyl moiety and subsequent intramolecular cyclization at the β-position of the initially formed alkylated intermediate. The reaction using a chiral bidentate phosphine ligand enabled the asymmetric synthesis of the cyclic compounds.

Abstract
Treatment of 2-vinylbenzamide derivatives with sulfinate sodium in the presence of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O led to an intra/intermolecular aminosulfonylation reaction to produce sulfonylated lactams in moderate to good yields. The developed method features the easily available and stable sulfone reagents, ease of operation, and a broad functional group tolerance.

Abstract
A facile route to 3-sulfonylated and 3-(1-benzotriazolyl)-benzofurans is achieved from readily available o-hydroxyphenyl propargyl alcohols (o-HPPAs) and bench-top sodium sulfonylates and benzotriazoles with no assistance of any reagent or catalyst. Bifunctional o-quinone methides (o-QMs) were the putative reaction intermediates ensued from dehydration of o-HPPA. Our study revealed that the o-QM was so choosy in selection of the nucleophiles for the key Michael addition reaction.
