Abstract
A Pd-catalyzed alkyne and aryne annulation strategy via C-H activation has been implemented for the synthesis of π-extended coumarins. This synthetic strategy provides a wide range of π-extended coumarins in moderate to good yields with good functional group compatibility. Photophysical properties of the synthesized π-extended coumarins have been evaluated, and some of them show interesting fluorescent properties. Three of the synthesized coumarins have been unambiguously established by a single-crystal XRD study.

Abstract
The versatility of isocoumarin frameworks offers the privilege to access many pharmacological targets. This unique heterocycle core present in many natural products and complex organic molecules contribute to medicinal chemistry as anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agents. The attractive properties exhibited by its analogues urged the scientists to explore their synthetic analogues. In regard to the myriads of synthetic methodologies, we have compiled a review update covering all the articles that have been published towards the synthesis of 3-substituted and 3,4-disubstituted isocoumarins. Additionally, we have also highlighted a systematic survey of catalytic methods for their synthesis along with their scope towards diverse functionalizations and plausible mechanistic aspects.

Abstract
Carbocycles and heterocycles are the most relevant structural moieties, which find boundless applications in interdisciplinary areas. In this regard, the interesting chemistry of aryne is highly embraced by the researchers for the synthesis of structurally different polycyclic systems i.e. carbocycles and heterocycles. In this review, we intended to provide a comprehensive overview on annulative approach considering Kobayashi's aryne intermediate as the key reactive species with diverse nucleo-/electrophilic partners. The review highlights the different aryne annulation reactions adopted for the synthesis of carbocycles and heterocycles (covering articles mainly from middle of 20’s), showcasing their viability towards broad range of substrates bearing diverse functionalities.

Abstract
Herein we report the mild and efficient synthesis of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline, and 2-phenoxypyridine derivatives from the starting materials viz. quinazolin-4(3H)-one, quinoxalin-2(1H)-one, and pyridin-2(1H)-one and aryne generated in situ from 2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate and cesium fluoride. This synthetic methodology gives a new environmentally benign way for the preparation of several unnatural series of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline and 2-phenoxypyridine compounds with high yields and broad substrate scope. Efficient synthesis of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline, 2-phenoxypyridine derivatives were generated of aryne from 2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyltrifluoromethanesulfonate with cesium fluoride.![]()

Abstract
A method for the intermolecular annulation of benzynes with allenes is disclosed. This protocol utilized allenes as an unconventional diene component for the selective synthesis of phenanthrenes and dihydrophenanthrenes under the control of different benzyne precursors, featuring high atom-economy and good functional group compatibility. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that different migratory routes of the aromatic C-H bond are crucial for the observed selectivity.

Abstract
An enantioselective Michael/transesterification tandem reaction of α-hydroxy indanones with ortho-ester chalcones was realized using dinuclear zinc catalysts. A series of enantiomerically pure spiro[indanone-2,3'-isochromane-1-one] derivatives were obtained in good yields with excellent stereoselectivities (up to >20 : 1 dr, up to >99% ee). This protocol could be conducted on a gram scale without affecting its stereoselectivities. In addition, the absolute stereochemistry of the products was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis of 3ac, and a positive nonlinear effect was observed. Finally, a possible catalytic cycle was proposed to explain the origin of the enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A mild, efficient and transition-metal free synthetic strategy has been developed for the α-arylation of 4-aminocoumarins using arynes as an aryl source. This synthetic strategy proceeds via C(sp2)–C(sp2) bond formation between 4-aminocoumarins and aryne precursors in a single step in the absence of a metal-catalyst.

Abstract
An interesting σ-bond insertion/benzannulation reaction for the synthesis of polysubstituted naphthalene derivatives has been developed from readily accessible ketones, arynes, and alkynoates. This practical and transition-metal-free method provides a novel route to diverse naphthalenes through a substrate-controlled rearrangement reaction with the cleavage of C-C bonds.
