Abstract
A highly regioselective 5-exo-dig cyclization of aromatic N-propargyloxycarbonyl guanidines was developed via an Ag(I)-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamination reaction. This method features a fast reaction rate and mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, it was extended to access halogenated analogues via a one-pot Ag(I)-catalyzed bromocyclization reaction or an I2-mediated iodocyclization reaction with high E/Z selectivity.

Abstract
A rhodium-catalyzed 3-component conjunctive diastereo- and regioselective arylamidation of (homo)allylic sulfides, organon boronic acids, and dioxazolones is reported. These reactions deliver the 1,2-insertion and 2,1-insertion arylamidation products, respectively, for allylic sulfides and homoallylic sulfides. The enantioselective arylamidation of terminal and internal allylic sulfides is achieved, furnishing various 1,3-N,S compounds featuring one or two contiguous stereocenters in high yields and with high diastereo- and enantioselectivities. Mechanistic studies suggest a change in the turnover-limiting and selectivity-determining steps induced by the native and easily removable sulfide group.

Abstract
Catalytic carboamination of alkenes is a powerful synthetic tool to access valuable amine scaffolds from abundant and readily available alkenes. Although a number of synthetic approaches have been developed to achieve the rapid buildup of molecular complexity in this realm, the installation of diverse carbon and nitrogen functionalities onto unactivated alkenes remains underdeveloped. Here we present a ligand design approach to enable nickel-catalyzed three-component carboamidation that is applicable to a wide range of alkenyl amine derivatives via a tandem process involving alkyl migratory insertion and inner-sphere metal-nitrenoid transfer. With this method, various nitrogen functionalities can be installed into both internal and terminal unactivated alkenes, leading to differentially substituted diamines that would otherwise be difficult to access. Mechanistic investigations reveal that the tailored Ni(cod)(BQiPr) precatalyst modulates the electronic properties of the presumed π-alkene-nickel intermediate via the quinone ligand, leading to enhanced carbonickelation efficiency across the unactivated C═C bond. These findings establish nickel's ability to catalyze multicomponent carboamidation with a high efficiency and exquisite selectivity.

Abstract
This article describes continued studies on Pd-catalyzed alkene diamination reactions between N-allylguanidines or ureas and O-benzoylhydroxylamine derivatives, which serve as N-centered electrophiles. The transformations generate cyclic guanidines and ureas bearing dialkylaminomethyl groups in moderate to good yield. We describe new mechanistic experiments that have led to a revised mechanistic hypothesis that involves a key oxidative addition of the electrophile to a PdII complex, followed by reductive elimination from PdIV to form the alkyl carbon-nitrogen bond. In addition, we demonstrate that acac, not phosphine, serves as a key ligand for palladium. Moreover, simple acac derivatives bearing substituted aryl groups outperform acac in the catalytic reactions, and phosphines inhibit catalysis in many cases. These discoveries have led to a significant expansion in the scope of this chemistry, which now allows for the coupling of a variety of cyclic amines, acyclic secondary amines, and primary amines. In addition, we also demonstrate that these new conditions allow for the use of amide nucleophiles, in addition to guanidines and ureas.

Abstract
Expansion of the scope of the 1,3-diaza-Claisen rearrangement beyond bridged-bicyclic tertiary allylic amines has been investigated through a tethering strategy. Isothioureas tethered to tertiary allylic amines are converted to carbodiimides through a reaction with AgOTf/Et3N. Intramolecular cyclization of the tertiary allylic amine to the carbodiimide equilibrates with a zwitterionic intermediate. Heating the carbodiimide/zwitterion affords a rearrangement product. Heating carbodiimide/zwitterion with a deuterated allyl group results in the scrambling of the deuterium label, which is consistent with an ionic mechanism involving heterolytic cleavage of the allylic C-N bond, followed by trapping of the allyl cation at either terminal carbon. The ionic mechanism is attributed to silver salt contamination since pushing deuterium-labeled carbodiimide/zwitterion through silica gel prior to heating results in clean deuterium transposition consistent with a sigmatropic mechanism, and adding back silver salts results in deuterium scrambling. Overall, the tethering strategy broadens the scope of the rearrangement to simpler allylic substrates. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the sigmatropic rearrangement are in agreement with reactivity trends observed with reactions run under silver-free conditions.

Abstract
The convenient preparation of N2-unprotected five-membered cyclic guanidines was achieved through a cascade [3 + 2] cycloaddition between organo-cyanamides and α-haloamides under mild conditions in good to excellent yields (up to 99%). The corresponding cyclic guanidines could be easily transformed into hydantoins via hydrolysis.

Abstract
Over the past few years our group has described a new type of alkene difunctionalization reaction in which aryl or alkenyl triflates bearing tethered alkenes are coupled with various nucleophiles to afford carbocyclic products. The products are formed in moderate to good chemical yield, with generally high levels of stereoselectivity. Our progress to date in this area, which includes reactions of amine, alcohol, enolate, and indole nucleophiles, is described in this review.

Abstract
Toward a method for direct conversion of alkenes to cyclic guanidines, we report that 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of 2-amido-1,3-diamino allylic cations with alkenes provide a new method for direct cyclic guanidine annulation. Generated under oxidative conditions, the 2-amido-1,3-diaminoallyl cations react as 1,3-dipoles providing rapid access to 2-amino imidazolines through net (3 + 2) cycloadditions. The utility is demonstrated through a concise synthesis of the oroidin alkaloid, phakellin. The described 1,3-dipole also participates in net (4 + 3) cycloadditions with dienes.

Abstract
The Pd-catalyzed coupling of N-allylguanidines or N-allylureas with O-benzoylhydroxylamine derivatives affords cyclic guanidines or cyclic ureas bearing dialkylaminomethyl groups. The desired products are obtained in good yield, and substrates bearing substituents at the allylic position are transformed with moderate diastereoselectivity. The mechanism of these reactions appears to involve anti-aminopalladation of the alkene, followed by a rare sp3C-sp3N bond-forming reductive elimination from an alkylpalladium complex that contains β-hydrogen atoms.

Abstract
The first example of a Pd(OAc)2-catalyzed ring-forming alkene aminoaroylation of unsaturated hydrazones and sulfonamides is described. This protocol features the use of diaryliodonium salts as both oxidants and aryl sources, thus enabling mild reaction conditions, good chemoselectivity, a broad substrate scope, and high functional group tolerance. A wide range of synthetically and biologically important functionalized dihydropyrazoles and isoxazolidines have been obtained in good yields.
