Abstract
A transition-metal-free postmodification of the Groebke-Blackburn-Bienaymé (GBB) reaction for the synthesis of spiro[chromene-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin]-3'-imine was discovered. The unusual transformation represents the first example of activation and the reaction of the imidazole carbon atom. In this postcondensational modification, KOt-Bu acts as a base, which, after the isomerization of an alkyne moiety to allene, causes the next unique nucleophilic reaction of the imidazole carbon atom that results in spirocyclic structures. The proposed reaction mechanism was confirmed based on the DFT calculations.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of diketopiperazinoindolines through an indium-catalyzed intramolecular 5-exo-dig cyclization of ortho-alkynyl diketopiperazines has been reported. The formation of diketopiperazinoindolines proceeds via a regio- and diastereoselective Conia-ene reaction. This synthetic method opens a new door for easy access to functionalized fused diketopiperazinoindolines in high to excellent yields with exclusive Z diastereoselectivity.

Abstract
A series of new deferasirox derivatives were synthesized through the reaction of monosubstituted hydrazides with 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4H-benzo[e][1,3]oxazin-4-one. For the first time, deferasirox and some of its derivatives were evaluated for their in vitro inhibitory activity against Jack bean urease. The potencies of the members of this class of compounds are higher than that of acetohydroxamic acid. Two compounds, bearing tetrazole and hydrazine derivatives (bioisoester of carboxylate group), represented the most potent urease inhibitory activity with IC50 values of 1.268 and 3.254 μm, respectively. In silico docking studies were performed to delineate possible binding modes of the compounds with the enzyme, urease. Docking analysis suggests that the synthesized compounds were anchored well in the catalytic site and extending to the entrance of binding pocket and thus restrict the mobility of the flap by interacting with its crucial amino acid residues, CME592 and His593. The overall results of urease inhibition have shown that these target compounds can be further optimized and developed as a lead skeleton for the discovery of novel urease inhibitors.

Abstract
An efficient approach for the synthesis of immobilized copper (triazole-5-yl)methanamine complexes onto MCM-41 (Cu@TZMA@MCM-41), as a novel recyclable nanocatalyst, is described. This nanocatalyst was used for the synthesis of pyridine-containing pseudopeptides through a sequential Ugi/nucleophilic addition/1,5-enyne cyclization reaction and elicited good-to-excellent yields. The nanocatalyst was fully characterized by SEM, EDS, TEM, BET, ICP-OES, TGA, and XRD techniques. Furthermore, the catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and could be used for at least 5 cycles without significant loss of activity.

Abstract
An efficient approach for the synthesis of pyrazolopyridines containing the aminochromane motif through a base-catalyzed cyclization reaction is reported. The synthesis was carried out through a three-component reaction of (arylhydrazono)methyl-4H-chromen-4-one, malononitrile, primary amines in the presence of Et3N at room temperature. However, carrying out the reaction under the same conditions without base led to a fused chromanyl-cyanopyridine. High selectivity, high atom economy, and good to high yields in addition to mild reaction conditions are the advantages of this approach.

Abstract
An unprecedented catalytic isocyanide-based cycloaddition of alkyl and aryl isocyanides with (Z)-2-(2-hydroxy-2-alkylvinyl)quinoline-3-carbaldehydes was developed for the direct and efficient synthesis of 1H-cyclopenta[b]quinolin-1-one derivatives. On the basis of DFT calculations, a mechanism is proposed involving formal [4 + 1] cycloaddition of isocyanides, followed by imine-enamine tautomerization and air oxidation.

Abstract
Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have proved as a valuable tool for organic and medicinal chemist because of their ability to introduce a large degree of chemical diversity in the product in a single step and with high atom economy. One of the dominant MCRs is the Ugi reaction, which involves the condensation of an aldehyde (or ketone), an amine, an isonitrile, and a carboxylic acid to afford an α-acylamino carboxamide adduct. The desired Ugi-adducts may be constructed by careful selection of the building blocks, opening the door for desired post-Ugi modifications. In recent times, the post-Ugi transformation has proved an important synthetic protocol to provide a variety of heterocyclic compounds with diverse biological properties. In this review, we have discussed the significant advancements reported in the recent literature with the emphasis to highlight the concepts and synthetic applications of the derived products along with critical mechanistic aspects.

Abstract
Indium(III) halides catalyze the hydroalkoxylation reaction of ortho-alkynylphenols to afford benzo[ b]furans in good yields. The reaction proceeds with 5- endo- dig regioselectivity with a variety of phenols functionalized at the arene and alkyne moieties in high yields using InI3 (5 mol %) in DCE. Experimental and computational studies support a mechanism based on the indium(III) π-Lewis acid activation of the alkyne followed by nucleophilic addition of the phenol and final protodemetalation to afford the corresponding benzo[ b]furan. DFT calculations suggest that dimer In2I6 is the catalytic species through a novel double coordination with the alkyne and the hydroxyl group.
