Abstract
We report a four-component ring-opening reaction of pyrroles via C-N bond cleavage. In this process, elemental sulfur is used as the sulfur source of thiazole and thioamide and the reductant of olefin. A series of benzothiazoles functionalized with thiopropionamides at the C2 position were synthesized using this method. A plausible reaction mechanism is proposed based on the concise control experiments.

Abstract
Compounds possessing a thioamide function play a crucial role in organic synthesis, serving as key building blocks. They are also important in the pharmaceutical chemistry and drug design, owing to their ability to mimic the amide function in biomolecules while retaining or developing biological activity. From the synthetic viewpoint, several methods have been developed for preparing thioamides using sulfuration agents. The purpose of this review is to give an update of the last decade of contributions focusing on the formation of thioamides employing different sulfur sources. When appropriate, the cleanness and practicality of the new methods are highlighted.

Abstract
A mild, greener approach toward thioamide synthesis has been developed. Its unique features include water-mediated reaction with no input energy, additives, or catalysts as well. The presented protocol is attractive with readily available starting materials and the use of different array amines, along with a scaled-up method. Biologically active molecules such as thionicotinamide and thioisonicotinamide can be synthesized from this procedure.

Abstract
A BF3·OEt2 catalyzed highly chemoselective formal CC double bond cleavage reaction of α,β-enones with diazoamides for the synthesis of 3-alkylated oxindoles is developed. Boron trifluoride etherate is found to be an effective catalyst for the chemoselective Cα-Cβ cleavage of enones to obtain 3-alkylated oxindoles. The product formation indicates a selective β-carbon elimination pathway of α,β-enones using the inexpensive BF3·OEt2 as a catalyst, transition metal-free conditions, an open-air environment, good functional tolerance and broad substrate scope. The synthetic utility of this protocol is highlighted by synthesizing spiro-indolooxiranes.

Abstract
The first synthesis of eight-membered N-containing heterocycles by oxidative bicyclization/ring extension of arylacetylenes and aryl amines has been achieved. This protocol uses arylacetylene as an unusual two-carbon synthon by incorporating the two parts of the cracked C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C bond into the final product, which provides a new method for using arylacetylenes as two-carbon synthons and further enriches C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C bond cleavage methodology. Moreover, this multi-component reaction can provide diverse fused elegant eight-membered N-heterocycles under mild conditions with wide substrate scopes.

Abstract
We report, herein, the synthesis of thieno[3,2-b]pyrroles from the direct oxidative [4 + 1] cyclization of 2-alkynyl pyrrolidines with elemental sulfur. This transformation likely originates from electrophilic attack at the β-position of pyrrolidine followed by an intramolecular thienannulation to deliver the desired product. Mechanistic investigation suggests that the present reaction involves the formation of dihydrothieno[3,2-b]pyrrole as an intermediate.

Abstract
A metal-free approach to N-aryl thioamides from Bunte salts and anilines in DMSO has been developed. This method tolerated a wide range of functional groups on the aromatic ring, providing an ideal way to N-aryl thioamides in good to excellent yields from cheap and easily available starting materials. A plausible mechanism was also proposed based on the X-ray single crystal diffraction, NMR and MS analyses of DMSO-concerning intermediates.

Abstract
An unprecedented conversion of terminal alkynes into N-sulfonimidamides (amidines) is reported by a silver-catalyzed, one-pot, four-component reaction with TMSN3, sodium sulfinate, and sulfonyl azide. The reaction scope includes both aromatic and aliphatic alkynes. A possible cascade reaction mechanism, consisting of alkyne hydroazidation, sulfonyl radical addition, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition by TMSN3, and retro-1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, is proposed. TMSN3 is found to play an essential role in each step of the reaction.

Abstract
An unprecedented method for cleaving the C═C bond in N, N-disubstituted enaminones in the presence of elemental sulfur and N, N-dimethyl-4-aminopyridine is disclosed. Without using any metal catalyst or additive, the cascade functionalization of both C═C and C-H bonds takes place to enable the formation of new C═S and C-N bonds, thus providing a facile and practical method for the synthesis of N, N-disubstituted α-keto thioamides.

Abstract
Thiourea as a sulfur atom transfer reagent was applied for the synthesis of aryl thioamides through a three-component coupling reaction with aryl aldehydes and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) or N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC). The reaction could tolerate various functional groups and gave moderate to good yields of desired products under the transition-metal-free condition.
