Abstract
A one-pot approach has been developed for the synthesis of α-ketothioamide derivatives from sulfur ylides, nitrosobenzenes, and thioacetic acid. This protocol is carried out under mild reaction conditions in generally moderate to excellent yields without any precious catalysts, affording the derivatives with structural diversity. Additionally, a possible mechanism for this chemical transformation is proposed.

Abstract
A Pd-catalyzed formal [4 + 1] cycloaddition reaction of sulfur ylides and in situ-generated Pd-stabilized zwitterions offers a convenient route to a series of functionalized proline derivatives. The utility of this method is demonstrated by a gram-scale synthesis and chemoselective functionalization of a proline-based derivative.

Abstract
The synthesis of 3-thioether-substituted dihydrofuro[2,3-b]benzofurans involving the [3 + 2] coupling of sulfur ylides with 2-nitrobenzofurans has been realized in moderate to good yields under mild conditions without any precious catalysts or additives. It is worth mentioning that the reutilization of the departed nitro-anion in the reaction process facilitates this new chemical transformation and presents a manner of high atom economy to provide products with a complex structure.

Abstract
The Sc(III)-catalyzed [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of sulfonium ylides derived from azoalkenes has been established. Owing to the absence of a carbenoid intermediate, this protocol represents the first non-carbenoid variant of the Doyle-Kirmse reaction. Under mild conditions, a variety of tertiary thioethers have been readily prepared in good to excellent yields.

Abstract
A straightforward strategy for the metal-free construction of trifluoromethyl-containing pyrazole derivatives has been achieved from readily available α-halo hydrazones and CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides. The cascade transformation proceeds through the formal [4+1] cycloaddition followed by an unexpected dual double bond isomerization. The protocol features mild conditions, easy operation, excellent substrate compatibility, and good regioselectivity. The synthetic utility is demonstrated by scale-up reaction and further elaboration of the obtained pyrazole products.

Abstract
Spirocycles represent a diverse class of molecules which have received significant attention in the pharmaceutical industry due to their broad biological activities and inherent molecular three-dimensionality. Herein, we demonstrate a procedurally simple method for the preparation of a range of spirocyclic dihydropyrazoles. The protocol utilises bench stable cyclic tosylhydrazones, which are trivial to prepare from the parent cyclic ketone without need for purification, and commercially available electron deficient alkenes. The synthetic utility of the core scaffold is also demonstrated to highlight potential for applications in medicinal chemistry and drug development programmes.

Zn(II)-catalyzed
divergent synthesis of functionalized polycyclic
indolines through formal [3 + 2] and [4 + 2] cycloadditions of indoles
with 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes (DDs) is reported. The nature and type of
substituents of substrates are found to act as a chemical switch to
trigger two distinct reaction pathways and to obtain two different
types of products upon the influence of the same catalyst. The mechanism
of both [4 + 2] and [3 + 2] cycloadditions was investigated and fully
rationalized by density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract
The enantioselective dearomatization of indoles by an organocatalytic (3+2) reaction has been established. The reaction makes use of simple indole derivatives as substrates, and employs azoalkenes reaction partners. A wide range of pyrroloindolines containing an all-carbon quaternary stereogenic center were readily prepared in high yields and with excellent enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Regioselective ring-opening cyclization of cyclohexane-1,3-dione-2-spirocyclopropanes with stabilized sulfonium ylides provided 2,3-trans-disubstituted 2,3,4,6,7,8-hexahydro-5H-1-benzopyran-5-ones in high yields without the formation of any isomers. The obtained product was readily converted into highly substituted chromane.

Abstract
N-Heterocyclic architectures are omnipresent in many bioactive natural
products, synthetic drugs, and materials science, thus have evoked a vast research interest
of academic, as well as industrial chemists. Recently, several efficient methods have been
developed for the preparation of various nitrogen-containing compounds with in situ generated
1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes from the easily available precursors including α -haloketohydrazones,
α-hydroxyl ketohydrazones, thiadiazole dioxides or their analogues, and
other simple hydrazones. These methods are considered powerful tools in the synthesis of
five-, six- and seven-membered ring heterocyclic compounds with good to excellent levels
of conversions and selectivities. This review mainly summarizes recent advances on the
chemistry of construction of versatile N-heterocycles from in situ generated 1,2-diaza-1,3-
dienes and presents an extensive summary of the application scopes and limitations of the corresponding cyclization
reactions. Moreover, enantioselective approaches are also covered.
