Abstract
This review provides an in-depth analysis of recent advances and strategies employed in the Pd-catalysed asymmetric allylic alkylation (Pd-AAA) of nucleophilic prochiral heterocycles. The review is divided into sections each focused on a specific family of heterocycle, where optimisation data and reaction scope have been carefully analysed in order to bring forward specific reactivity and selectivity trends. The review eventually opens on how computer-based technologies could be used to predict an ideally matched catalytic system for any given substrate. This user-guide targets chemists from all horizons interested in running a Pd-AAA reaction for the preparation of highly enantioenriched heterocyclic compounds.

Abstract
In the work reported herein, the concise and enantioselective total synthesis of the Schizozygine alkaloid (-)-strempeliopine was developed. This synthetic strategy featured the palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative asymmetric allylic alkylation of N-benzoyl lactam to set up the absolute configuration at the C20 position, a highly diastereoselective one-pot Bischler-Napieralski/lactamization and iminium reduction sequence for the construction of the pentacyclic core structure, and the late-stage dearomative addition of indole, leading to the otherwise difficult-to-achieve hexacyclic indoline framework with complete control of four neighbouring stereocenters.

Abstract
The Pd-catalyzed asymmetric addition reaction of β-keto acids to heteroatom-substituted allene is reported. This reaction generates β-substituted ketones in an asymmetric manner through a branch-selective decarboxylative allylation pathway. The reaction accommodates various alkoxyallenes as well as amidoallenes.

Abstract
A variety of enantioenriched gem-disubstituted 4-imidazolidinones were prepared in up to >99% yield and 95% ee by the Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative asymmetric allylic alkylation of imidazolidinone-derived β-amidoesters. In the process of preparing these substrates, a rapid synthetic route to 4-imidazolidinone derivatives was developed, beginning from 2-thiohydantoin. The orthogonality of the benzoyl imide and tert-butyl carbamate groups used to protect these nitrogen-rich products was demonstrated, enabling potential applications in drug design.

Abstract
The challenging metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of highly functional quaternary carbon centers using decarboxylative C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bond formation reactions is reported. The key substrate, a vinyl cyclic carbonate, is activated to provide concomitantly both the requisite nucleophile (by formal umpolung) and electrophile reaction partner preceding the asymmetric cross-coupling process. A wide screening of reaction conditions, additives and catalyst precursors afforded a protocol that gave access to a series of compounds featuring densely functionalized, elusive quaternary carbon stereocenters in appreciable yield and with enantiomeric ratios (er's) of up to 90 : 10.

Abstract
This Review compiles the evolution, mechanistic understanding, and more recent advances in enantioselective Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution and decarboxylative and oxidative allylic substitutions. For each reaction, the catalytic data, as well as examples of their application to the synthesis of more complex molecules, are collected. Sections in which we discuss key mechanistic aspects for high selectivity and a comparison with other metals (with advantages and disadvantages) are also included. For Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution, the catalytic data are grouped according to the type of nucleophile employed. Because of the prominent position of the use of stabilized carbon nucleophiles and heteronucleophiles, many chiral ligands have been developed. To better compare the results, they are presented grouped by ligand types. Pd-catalyzed asymmetric decarboxylative reactions are mainly promoted by PHOX or Trost ligands, which justifies organizing this section in chronological order. For asymmetric oxidative allylic substitution the results are grouped according to the type of nucleophile used.

Abstract
All-carbon quaternary stereocenters are versatile building blocks, and their asymmetric construction has attracted much attention. Herein, we disclose an axial-to-central chirality transfer strategy for the synthesis of chiral quaternary stereocenters via dearomatization of (S)-BINOLs. The reaction proceeded smoothly with a wide range of propargyl carbonates to afford chiral spiro-compounds in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities. In addition, the strategy was extended to kinetic resolution of rac-BINOLs albeit with moderate s value.
