Abstract
A Rh(III)-catalyzed weak enone carbonyl/ketone-assisted aerobic oxidative C-H olefination of aromatics with unactivated alkenes has been developed. This protocol involves cross-dehydrogenative Heck-type olefination reaction of various substituted biologically relevant chalcones and aromatic ketones such as acetophenones and chromones with various functionalized unactivated olefins in moderate to good yields. Further, ortho-alkylation of chalcones with norbornene is also demonstrated. A possible reaction mechanism involving weak chelation-assisted C-H activation/insertion/β-hydride elimination was proposed and supported by the deuterium labeling studies.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of aryl-substituted quinones via Pd(II)-catalyzed C-H functionalization of less expensive and abundant benzoquinones with aryl acetamides is demonstrated. An auxiliary ligand N,N-bidentate-directing group 8-aminoquinoline plays a crucial role in the success of the reaction. A broad range of substituted phenyl acetamides including commercially available drug molecules were examined and also found to be highly compatible with quinones. The aryl-substituted quinones were also easily converted into aryl-substituted hydroquinone derivatives. A plausible reaction mechanism was proposed to account for the selective distal C-H bond functionalization.

Abstract
The present work introduces Pd(II)/LA-catalyzed (LA: Lewis acid) olefination of arylacetamides with dioxygen as the oxidant source. This protocol tolerates with different functional groups on the substrates, and the catalytic efficiency is highly Lewis acidity-dependent on added LA, that is, a stronger LA provided a better promotional effect. The 1H NMR studies of the semireaction between the arylacetamide and the Pd(II)/Sc(III) catalyst in HOAc-d4 disclosed the formation of a palladacycle intermediate, and the C-H activation step was reversible, which led to the formation of the deuterated arylacetamide substrate and the palladacycle intermediate. Further semireaction between the palladacycle intermediate and the olefin disclosed that it was a clean and much faster reaction than the C-H activation step, thus revealing multiple mechanistic information for Pd(II)-catalyzed C-H activation.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization is one of the fascinating scientific fronts in organic synthesis for the formation of conjugated arenes and has emerged as a benchmark to revolutionize the synthetic enterprise since past decades. In this realm, chelation-guided functionalization of C-H bonds using an exogenous directing group has received considerable attention recently for the expedient regioselective construction of C-C and C-heteroatom bonds as an efficient and sustainable alternative. This article outlines our contribution towards a wide variety of transformations that have been achieved by the directed C-H functionalization through the fine tuning of catalytic systems.

Abstract
A novel approach to synthesize 3-methylisoquinolines via a one-pot, two-step, palladium(II)-catalyzed tandem C-H allylation/intermolecular amination and aromatization is reported. A wide series of 3-methylisoquinoline derivatives were obtained directly using this method in moderate to good yields, and we highlight the synthetic importance of this new transformation.

Abstract
An efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed aerobic oxidative C-H alkenylation of arylamides with unactivated alkenes is described. The olefination reaction was compatible with various substituted arylamides including primary, secondary, and tertiary as well as functionalized unactivated olefins. Meanwhile, ortho mono/bis-alkylated arylamides were synthesized in the reaction of arylamides with norbornene. In the alkenylation reaction, molecular oxygen along with organic acid was used to regenerate the active catalyst for the next catalytic cycle. A possible reaction mechanism involving C-H activation/insertion/β-hydride elimination followed by aerobic oxidation was proposed and supported by the deuterium labeling studies.
