Abstract
We describe herein a gold-catalyzed three-component reaction of o-alkynylbenzaldehydes, aryldiazonium salts, and trimethoxybenzene. This process enables the one-pot formation of valuable isoindoles and 1,2-dihydrophathalazines. The regioselectivity of the reaction is dictated by the nature of the aryldiazonium salt. Noticeably, the reaction is performed at room temperature under mild conditions and tolerates a variety of functional groups on both the o-alkynylbenzaldehyde and the aryldiazonium salt. Experimental mechanistic studies suggest that it is catalyzed by arylAu(III) species.

Abstract
Spirolactones are widely found in pharmaceuticals and bioactive natural products. However, efficient and environmentally friendly approaches to accessing spirolactones are still highly desirable. Herein, a novel electrochemical synthesis of spirolactones from α-tetralone derivatives with methanol as a C1 source is described. This electrochemical reaction exhibits a high efficiency and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
An efficient enantioselective synthesis of γ-chiral α-spiro-γ-lactones, which are important building blocks for pharmaceuticals, was achieved via BINOL-derived chiral bifunctional sulfide-catalyzed bromolactonizations of α-allyl carboxylic acids containing either hetero- or carbocyclic structures. Transformations of the resultant α-spiro-type bromolactonization product were examined to obtain optically active γ-functionalized α-spiro-γ-lactones. The utility of this catalytic system was also demonstrated in the asymmetric synthesis of α,α-diaryl- and dialkyl-substituted γ-lactones.

Abstract
α-Aminophosphonate analogues containing a phthalazine skeleton were efficiently obtained by a new transition-metal-free addition of dialkyl phosphites to phthalazin-2-ium bromide under mild conditions. A mechanistic study using isotope labeling and radical inhibition experiment revealed that the present transformation passes through a nucleophilic addition of dialkyl phosphates, rather than an insertion of P-H to carbenes.

Abstract
We report a catalytic asymmetric halocyclization protocol to furnish benzoxazepinones and benzoxazecinones using (DHQ)2PHAL as the catalyst. Various halogenated benzoxazepinones and benzoxazecinones were achieved in excellent yields and enantioselectivities under mild conditions. A cocrystal structure of the substrate and the catalyst was studied.

Abstract
α-exo-Methylene-γ-butyrolactones and α-exo-methylene-δ-valerolactones constitute an important group of natural and bioactive products. A simple and general protocol of halolactonization of dienoic acids to obtain various α-exo-methylene-lactones in excellent yields is described. The resulting halogenated α-exo-methylene-lactones were found to exhibit potent cytotoxic activities.
