Abstract
In recent decades, the traceless nature of visible photons has been exploited for the development of efficient synthetic strategies for the photoconversion of colourless compounds, namely, photocatalysis, chromophore activation, and the formation of an electron donor/acceptor (EDA) complex. However, the use of photoreactive coloured organic compounds is the optimal strategy to boost visible photons as ideal reagents in synthetic protocols. In view of such premises, the present review aims to provide its readership with a collection of recent photochemical strategies facilitated via direct light absorption by coloured molecules. The protocols have been classified and presented according to the nature of the intermediate/excited state achieved during the transformation.

Abstract
The acetyl group of chiral α-fluorinated dicarbonyl compounds was transformed to nonaflates through a reaction with perfluorobutanesulfonyl fluoride in the presence of DBU in 82-95% yield. These nonaflates were used in Suzuki and Sonogashira coupling reactions to afford chiral tertiary allylic fluorides bearing gem-disubstituted terminal alkenes with excellent optical purities (45-91%, ≥94% ee). In addition, chiral tertiary propargylic fluorides were obtained from the reaction of nonaflates with DBU (73-86%, ≥94% ee).

Abstract
A visible-light-induced difluoroalkylation of unactivated alkenes by fluoro-containing hypervalent iodine-based difluoroalkylation reagent was achieved for the first time under photo-catalyst-free conditions. Moreover, the same reaction conditions were applicable to the difluoroalkylation of alkynes to give the hydrodifluoroalkylation products in moderate to excellent yields. The readily available reagent, broad substrate scope, and photo-catalyst-free conditions make this protocol an efficient and environmental friendly method for the hydrodifluoroalkylation of alkenes and alkynes.

Abstract
The introduction of fluorine atoms into organic molecules is an attractive but challenging topic. In this work, an interesting palladium-catalyzed difluoroalkylative carbonylation of aryl olefins has been developed. A wide range of aryl olefins were transformed into the corresponding difluoropentanedioate compounds with good functional-group tolerance and excellent regioselectivity. Inexpensive ethyl bromodifluoroacetate acts both as a difluoroalkyl precursor and a nucleophile here. Additionally, a scale-up reaction was also performed successfully, and further transformations of the obtained product were shown as well.

Abstract
AbstractA base/B2pin2-mediated iodofluoroalkylation of alkynes and a part of alkenes, using ethyl difluoroiodoacetate (ICF2CO2Et) or ICnF2n+1 (n = 3, 4, 6) as difluoroacetylating or perfluoroalkylating reagent, is disclosed. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions, and iododifluoroalkylation, hydrodifluoroalkylation and several perfluoroalkylation products were generated from alkynes or alkenes. Notably, this methodology provides a simple access to difluoroalkylated and perfluoroalkylated organic compounds starting from simple alkynes or alkenes.

Abstract
The atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) of bromodifluoroacetamides to arylalkynes and terminal alkenes was conducted using von Wangelin's Co catalyst system (CoBr2/1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene/Zn) in acetone/H2O at 30 °C to afford the corresponding functionalized difluoroacetamides in 33-89% yields. Moreover, the Co catalyst was successfully applied to the tandem addition/cyclization of 1,6-diene and -enyne substrates and intramolecular ATRA of N-allyl and N-propargyl bromodifluoroacetamides, significantly expanding the scope of radical difluoroalkylation.

Abstract
A gold-catalyzed synthesis of polyfluoroalkylated oxazoles from N-propargylamides under visible-light irradiation has been developed. These reactions display excellent compatibility of radicals and gold catalysts under visible-light irradiation. Mechanistic experiments indicate that polyfluoroalkyl iodides play a dual role in enhanced compatibility of radicals and gold catalysts through assisted protodeauration of vinyl gold and reactivated the gold catalyst. In addition, PPh3 AuNTf2 not only activates N-propargylamide to generate vinyl gold intermediate, but also greatly promotes homolysis of polyfluoroalkyl iodides under blue light irradiation.

Abstract
A novel diethylzinc-mediated radical 1,2-addition of perfluoroalkyl iodides to unactivated alkenes and alkynes is presented, which demonstrates a novel way to generate an ethyl difluoroacetate radical. This method is highly efficient and gives full conversions of the substrates, high yields of the products, and negligible byproducts and requires no column chromatography purifications. The mild conditions enable this protocol to exhibit excellent functional group compatibility.

Abstract
Visible light photocatalytic cross-coupling and addition reactions of arylalkynes with perfluoroalkyl iodides have been developed. Through slight modifications of the reaction conditions, reactions that are selective for the preparation of the C-C coupling product (perfluoroalkyl alkynes) and the addition products (iodo-perfluoroalkyl substituted alkenes) can be achieved. These reactions work well with different types of alkynes and perfluoroalkyl iodides. As the iodide generated from the reaction can serve as a reductant to regenerate the photocatalyst from its oxidized form, no sacrificial electron donor is required.

Abstract
Two classes of new catalytic spiroannulation-fluormethylfunctionaliztions of para-quinone methide (p-QM)-containing 1,5-enynes have been established under redox-neutral conditions. Palladium-catalyzed spiroannulation-iododifluoromethylation with ethyl difluoroiodoacetate oriented completely stereoselective access to (Z)-spiroindenes and the latter included copper-catalyzed three-component spiroannulation-cyanotrifluoromethylation starting from Togni's reagent and trimethylsilanecarbonitrile (TMSCN). Both reaction pathways involve fluoroalkyl radical-triggered 1,6-addition/5-exo-dig annulation/metal radical cross-coupling/reductive elimination sequence, providing practical and stereoselective protocols for rapidly constructing cyclohexadienone-containing spiroindenes with generally good yields.

Abstract
We report herein a novel photoredox-catalyzed synthesis of allylic trifluoromethanes. The use of sulfilimino iminium as a source of trifluoromethyl radicals proves crucial to achieving high selectivity. Importantly, both styrene derivatives and unactivated alkenes are for the first time suitable partners for this process. The mild reaction conditions are compatible with a variety of functional groups. Remarkably, this method is readily broadened to other perfluoroalkyl groups (RF =CFCl2 , CF2 Br, C4 F9 ). An extensive mechanistic study is also provided.
