Abstract
Polyimide (PI) refers to a type of high-performance polymer containing imide rings in the main chain, which has been widely used in fields of aerospace, microelectronic and photonic devices, gas separation technology, and so on. However, traditional aromatic PIs are, in general, the inefficient fluorescence or even no fluorescence, due to the strong inter- and intramolecular charge transfer (CT) interactions causing unavoidable fluorescence quenching, which greatly restricts their applications as light-emitting functional layers in the fabrication of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. As such, the development of fluorescent PIs with high fluorescence quantum efficiency for their application fields in the OLED is an important research direction in the near future. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of fluorescent PIs as well as the methods to improve the fluorescence quantum efficiency of PIs. It is anticipated that this review will serve as a valuable reference and offer guidance for the design and development of fluorescent PIs with high fluorescence quantum efficiency, ultimately fostering further progress in OLED research.

Abstract
Organic persistent luminescence (pL) systems with photoresponsive dynamic features have valuable applications in the fields of data encryption, anticounterfeiting, and bioimaging. Photoinduced radical luminescent materials have a unique luminous mechanism with the potential to achieve dynamic pL. It is extremely challenging to obtain radical pL under ambient conditions; on account of it, it is unstable in air. Herein, a new semialiphatic polyimide-based polymer (A0) is developed, which can achieve dynamic pL through reversible conversion of radical under photoexcitation. A "joint-donor-spacer-acceptor" molecular design strategy is applied to effectively modulate the intramolecular charge-transfer and charge-transfer complex interactions, resulting in effective protection of the radical generated under photoirradiation. Meanwhile, polyimide-based polymers of A1-A4 are obtained by doping different amine-containing fluorescent dyes to modulate the dynamic afterglow color from green to red via the triplet to singlet Förster resonance energy-transfer pathway. Notably, benefiting from the structural characteristics of the polyimide-based polymer, A0-A4 have excellent processability, thermal stability, and mechanical properties and can be applied directly in extreme environments such as high temperatures and humidity.

Abstract
Alkyl chain modification strategies in both organic semiconductors and inorganic dielectrics play a crucial role in improving the performance of organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). Polyimide (PI) and its derivatives have received extensive attention as dielectrics for application in OTFTs because of flexibility, high-temperature resistance, and low cost. However, low-temperature solution processing PI-based gate dielectric for flexible OTFTs with high mobility, low operating voltage, and high operational stability remains an enormous challenge. Furthermore, even though di-n-decyldinaphtho[2,3-b:2',3'-f]thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (C10-DNTT) is known to have very high mobility as an air-stable and high-performance organic semiconductor, the C10-DNTT-based TFTs on the PI gate dielectrics still showed relatively low mobility. Here, inspired by alkyl side chain engineering, we design and synthesize a series of PI materials with different alkyl side chain lengths and systematically investigate the PI surface properties and the evolution of organic semiconductor morphology deposited on PI surfaces during the variation of alkyl side chain lengths. It is found that the alkyl side chain length has a critical influence on the PI surface properties, as well as the grain size and molecular orientation of semiconductors. Good field-effect characteristics are obtained with high mobilities (up to 1.05 and 5.22 cm2/Vs, which are some of the best values reported to date), relatively low operating voltage, hysteresis-free behavior, and high operational stability in OTFTs. These results suggest that the strategy of optimizing alkyl side-chain lengths opens up a new research avenue for tuning semiconductor growth to enable high mobility and outstanding operational stability of PI-based OTFTs.

Abstract
The flexible self-powered display system integrating a flexible triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and flexible alternating current electroluminescence (ACEL) has attracted increasing attention for its promising potential in human-machine interaction applications. In this work, a performance-enhanced MXene/cellulose nanofibril (CNF)/MXene-based TENG (MCM-TENG) is reported for powering a flexible patterned ACEL device in order to realize self-powered display. The MCM multilayer composite film was self-assembled through the layer-by-layer method. The MCM film concurrently acted as a triboelectric layer and electrode layer due to its high conductivity and strength. Moreover, the effect of CNF concentration and number of layers on the output performance of TENG was investigated. It was found that the MCM-TENG realized the optimum output performance. Finally, a flexible self-powered display device was realized by integrating the flexible TENG and ACEL. The MCM-TENG with an output voltage of ≈90 V at a frequency of 2 Hz was found to be efficient enough to power the ACEL device. Therefore, the as-fabricated flexible TENG demonstrates a promising potential in terms of self-powered displays and human-machine interaction.

Abstract
In this work, a triarylimidazole-containing diamine 2-(4-methylphenyl)-4,5-bis(4-(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl)imidazole (MPBAI) was firstly synthesized and polymerized with 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (CBDA) to prepare transparent polyimide (PI) films by means of thermal imidization. Then, inorganic nanoparticles including silica (SiO2), alumina (Al2O3) and silicon nitride (Si3N4) were separately introduced into the PI(MPBAI-CBDA) with different mass fractions of 0.02%, 0.10%, 0.50% and 2.50% to obtain three series of PI nanocomposite films. All these films were close to colorless and transparent, although the light transmittance showed a downward trend due to the introduction of nanoparticles. Moreover, as the content of inorganic nanoparticles increased, the fluorescence intensities of these films were increased. Comparatively, the improvement effect of nano-SiO2 was the most obvious. When the content of SiO2 was 2.50%, the maximum intensity of the fluorescence absorption peak was increased by 9.6 times, and the absolute fluorescence quantum yield reached 17.2%, about 5.2 times that of the original PI film. Moreover, the maximum absorption peak produced a red shift of 85 nm due to the addition of 2.50% Si3N4, which was probably caused by the weakening of fluorescence quenching effect and high permittivity. The nanocomposites exhibited high glass transition temperatures of around 300 °C and excellent thermal stabilities. The surface hydrophobicity was changed by adjusting the mass and type of nanoparticles. Thus, this work provided a simple way to improve the photoluminescence effect by introducing the nanoparticles. The functional films will be expected to be applied in some optical applications.

Abstract
In this paper, three kinds of triphenyl imidazole-containing diamines including 2-phenyl-4,5-bis(4-(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl)imidazole (PBAI), 2-(4-methylphenyl)-4,5-bis(4-(4-amino-2-trifluoromethyl phenoxy)phenyl)imidazole (MPBAI) and 2-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4,5-bis(4-(4-amino-2-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenyl)imidazole (TFPBAI) were synthesized. Then, a series of polyimide (PI) films were prepared by the solution polymerization of the three diamines and various dianhydrides, such as 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), 1,2,4,5-pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (CBDA), followed by thermal imidization. The effects of chemical structures on the solubilities and thermal, optical and electrochemical properties of polyimides were explored. All the polyimides exhibited higher glass transition temperatures around 300 °C and excellent solubilities in common polar solvents. The polyimide films derived from CBDA or 6FDA showed better optical properties with light color and transparent characteristics. The fluorescence test showed that the photoluminescence color of CBDA-based polyimide films is in the blue range in the CIE 1931 spectrum, while the polyimide film based on PMDA and 6FDA presented black or weak yellow light. However, all these polyimides in solution exhibited similar blue luminescence. Electrochemical tests indicated that the HOMO and LUMO values of these films were around −6.5 and −3.6 eV, and the energy gap difference was about 3.0 eV. Therefore, the triphenyl imidazole-containing polyimides exhibit comprehensive performance, which will be expected as a new kind of functional material for certain application in the optical and optoelectronics fields. The triphenyl imidazole-containing polyimide films exhibit excellent solubility and thermal and photoluminescence properties.![]()

Abstract
A suitable insulating polymer material that is compatible with the fabrication process of organic transistors and has excellent electrical properties is critically required for the next-generation flexible organic electronics. In this study, using a one-step polymerization method, we synthesized two different solution-processable polyimides (PIs) incorporated with abundant trifluoromethyl groups. Not only were the two resulting PIs-termed 6FDA-6FDAM-PI and 6FDA-TFMB-PI-well soluble in organic solvents, but also they showed transparent and colorless optical properties. The fluorinated PI films showed smooth surface topographies and surface energy values that were appropriate for their use in bottom-gate organic transistors. Organic transistors separately fabricated with 6FDA-6FDAM-PI and 6FDA-TFMB-PI as the gate insulators showed excellent device performance and electrical stability under various testing conditions, especially for pentacene-based devices. The excellent performance of the devices with fluorinated PIs was attributed to the enhanced microstructure of the organic semiconductor and the fluorine-rich characteristic of the underlying gate insulator. Furthermore, organic complementary circuits including the basic logic gates of NOT, NOR, and NAND were demonstrated using these devices.

Abstract
Near-infrared (NIR) microlasers play a significant role in telecommunication and biomedical tissue imaging. However, it remains a big challenge to realize NIR microlasers because of the difficulty in preparing highly efficient NIR luminescent materials and perfect optical resonators. Here, we propose a molecular design strategy to creatively realize the first spiropyrane (SP)-based NIR microlasers with low threshold from self-assembled microsphercial caps. The tetraphenylethylene (TPE) moiety with a highly twisted conformation provides a large free volume to facilitate the photoisomerization process of SP and enhance NIR emission of merocyanine in the solid state. Moreover, self-assembled TPE-SP microsphercial caps simultaneously serve as gain media and resonant microcavities, providing optical gain and feedback for NIR laser oscillations with a low threshold (3.68 μJ/cm2). These results are beneficial for deeply understanding the SP microstructures-lasing emission characteristic relationship and provide a useful guideline for the rational molecular design of NIR microlasers with special functionalities.
