Abstract
We describe herein a gold-catalyzed three-component reaction of o-alkynylbenzaldehydes, aryldiazonium salts, and trimethoxybenzene. This process enables the one-pot formation of valuable isoindoles and 1,2-dihydrophathalazines. The regioselectivity of the reaction is dictated by the nature of the aryldiazonium salt. Noticeably, the reaction is performed at room temperature under mild conditions and tolerates a variety of functional groups on both the o-alkynylbenzaldehyde and the aryldiazonium salt. Experimental mechanistic studies suggest that it is catalyzed by arylAu(III) species.

Abstract
Gold(I) catalysis has been recognized as a valuable tool for the unique transformation of multiple carbon-carbon bonds. Enantioselective π-catalysis based on gold(I) complexes is, however, still underdeveloped due to lack of privileged ligands. Herein, we present an accessible method to a new family of stable yet catalytically active chiral NHC-Au(I)-Cl complexes. The key to preserving a simultaneous fine balance between reactivity and stability in this newly developed family appears to be sterically hindered, but conformationally flexible NHC ligands. These could be easily accessed on a multigram scale by merging sterically hindered anilines with commercially available amino alcohols and amines via a four-steps synthetic sequence without the need for chromatographic purification. Further investigations of the catalytic activity of NHC-Au-Cl complexes identified the OH functionality incorporated into the NHC core as crucial for the level of enantioselectivity as well as the TsO- anion responsible for the activation of NHC-Au(I)-Cl. Finally, NMR studies and X-ray investigations revealed for the first time that the widely accepted ion metathesis (NHC-Au-Cl to NHC-Au-OSO2 R) responsible for the activation of NHC-Au-Cl complexes does not take place (or it is very slow) in commonly used MeNO2 in contrast to DCM.

Abstract
For the first time site-specific doping of silver into a spherical Au25 nanocluster has been achieved in [Au19Ag6(MeOPhS)17(PPh3)6] (BF4)2 (Au19Ag6) through a dual-ligand coordination strategy. Single crystal X-ray structural analysis shows that the cluster has a distorted centered icosahedral Au@Au6Ag6 core of D3 symmetry, in contrast to the Ih Au@Au12 kernel in the well-known [Au25(SR)18]− (R = CH2CH2Ph). An interesting feature is the coexistence of [Au2(SPhOMe)3] dimeric staples and [P–Au–SPhOMe] semi-staples in the title cluster, due to the incorporation of PPh3. The observation of only one double-charged peak in ESI-TOF-MS confirms the ordered doping of silver atoms. Au19Ag6 is a 6e system showing a distinct absorption spectrum from [Au25(SR)18]−, that is, the HOMO–LUMO transition of Au19Ag6 is optically forbidden due to the P character of the superatomic frontier orbitals. For the first time site-specific doping of silver into a spherical Au25 nanocluster has been achieved in [Au19Ag6(MeOPhS)17(PPh3)6] (BF4)2. It is a 6e system showing quite a different absorption spectrum from [Au25(SR)18]−.![]()
