Abstract
Herein, we report a rhodium-catalyzed C-H activation/[4+2] cyclization reaction between α,β-unsaturated amides and iodonium ylides for the synthesis of novel 7,8-dihydroquinoline-2,5-diones and analogues. This protocol provides a series of pyridones fused with saturated cycles with good functional group compatibility, good water and air tolerance, and good to excellent yields under mild and green reaction conditions. Additionally, scale-up synthesis can be smoothly performed with as low as 0.25 mol % catalyst loading. Recycling experiments and different transformation experiments were also carried out to demonstrate the potential synthetic utility of this protocol.

Abstract
Presented herein is a novel synthesis of CF3-substituted pyrrolo[1,2-a]indole derivatives based on the cascade reactions of N-alkoxycarbamoyl indoles with CF3-ynones. Mechanistically, the formation of a product involves a tandem process initiated by Rh(III)-catalyzed and N-alkoxycarbamoyl group-directed regioselective C2-H alkenylation of the indole scaffold followed by in situ removal of the directing group and intramolecular N-nucleophilic addition/annulation under one set of reaction conditions. To our knowledge, this is the first example in which a N-alkoxycarbamoyl unit initially acts as a directing group for C2-H functionalization of the indole scaffold and is then removed to provide the required reactive NH-moiety for subsequent intramolecular condensation. Moreover, the products thus obtained could be conveniently transformed into structurally and biologically attractive cycloheptenone fused indole derivatives through an acid-promoted cascade transformation. In addition, studies on the activity of selected products against human cancer cell lines demonstrated their potential as lead compounds for the development of novel anticancer drugs.

Abstract
Herein, we report a rare example of rhodium-catalyzed C-H activation/[4 + 2] annulation of alkenyl amides with bicyclic alkenes under mild and green conditions. The reactivity of the rhodium catalyst in this study differed from that observed in cobalt-catalyzed C-H activation/[3 + 2] annulation between vinylic amides and bicyclic alkenes. In addition, the reaction was performed in EtOH at room temperature, which also displayed excellent diastereoselectivity, good functional group tolerance, and air compatibility. A series of novel bridged-ring skeletons were obtained in good to excellent yields. Scale-up experiments were carried out with 1 or 0.75 mol % rhodium catalyst, affording the desired bridged-ring skeleton in excellent yields.

Abstract
Selective annulations of alkynes represent a powerful tool for constructing multicyclic scaffolds while installing desired substitution patterns with precision. Herein, we report a Rh-catalyzed unique annulation of indolyl oxopropanenitrile with hydroxy-alkynoates to access pyranoindole cyclic motifs, featuring enol oxygen as a rare chemoselective reactive terminal. The reaction proceeds via a five-membered oxy-rodacycle through C-H activation by a rhodium complex guided by enolic- and propargyloxy dual co-ordination to enable a regio- and stereoselective modular assembly.

Abstract
The mechanism of the rhodium-catalyzed C-H alkenylation/directing group migration and [3+2] annulation of N-aminocarbonylindoles with 1,3-diynes has been investigated with DFT calculations. On the basis of mechanistic studies, we mainly focus on the regioselectivity of 1,3-diyne inserting into the Rh-C bond and the N-aminocarbonyl directing group migration involved in the reactions. Our theoretical study uncovers that the directing group migration undergoes a stepwise β-N elimination and isocyanate reinsertion process. As studied in this work, this finding is also applicable to other relevant reactions. Additionally, the role of Na+ versus Cs+ involved in the [3+2] cyclization reaction is also probed.

Abstract
With the assistance of the acetamido directing group (DG), a rhodium-catalyzed C-H alkenylation/DG migration cascade for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted 1,3-enynes from N-phenoxyacetamides and 1,3-diynes has been achieved in this work. Alternatively, a rhodium-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation for the synthesis of alkynylated benzofurans from the same set of substrates has also been achieved by simply changing the reaction conditions. This work highlights the tunable divergent synthesis of valuable compounds triggered by C-H activation.

Abstract
A Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation of α-keto oximes and a cyclization cascade with diazo compounds were developed to construct the highly fused indano[1,2-b]azirine frameworks in good yields with a broad range of substrates under mild reaction conditions. More intriguingly, a [4+1+1] sequential annulation cascade is demonstrated for the first time in this reaction and opened a new reaction mode for α-keto oximes. These fused indano[1,2-b]azirine derivatives could also be further transformed into intriguing privileged drug scaffolds.
