Abstract
A new method for the synthesis of 1-aryl-2,3-diaroyl cyclopropanes has been developed by iodine/DBU-mediated cyclization of 1,3,5-triaryl-1,5-diketones. The alcohols derived by the reduction of these cyclopropanes, when treated with conc. HCl, afforded a series of 1,3-dienes through cyclopropyl ring-opening and subsequent fragmentation. Overall, the synthetic sequence represents a new non-Wittig methodology for the synthesis of 1,3-dienes from 1,5-diketones.

Abstract
This study developed an eco-friendly method to synthesize 3-arylisoquinoline from 2-alkynylbenzaldehydes using Nafion® NR50 as an acidic catalyst and hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) as a nitrogen source. The reaction proceeded via a 6-exo-dig cyclization under microwave irradiation, giving the corresponding isoquinolines in excellent yields. The advantages of this protocol include: (1) the use of recyclable acid catalysts, (2) transition-metal-free catalysis, and (3) the effective formation of the target product. These features make this methodology a promising approach for the sustainable and efficient synthesis of 3-arylisoquinoline. Some structures were also confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Herein, a new heterogeneous catalytic system through modification of urea functionalized magnetic nanoparticles with choline chloride [Fe3O4@SiO2@urea-riched ligand/Ch-Cl] was designed and synthesized. Then, the synthesized Fe3O4@SiO2@urea-riched ligand/Ch-Cl was characterized by using FT-IR spectroscopy, FESEM, TEM, EDS-Mapping, TGA/DTG and VSM techniques. After that, the catalytic usage of Fe3O4@SiO2@urea-riched ligand/Ch-Cl was investigated for the synthesis of hybrid pyridines with sulfonate and/or indole moieties. Delightfully, the outcome was satisfactory and the applied strategy represents several advantages such as short reaction times, convenience of operation and relatively good yields of obtained products. Moreover, the catalytic behavior of several formal homogeneous DESs was investigated for the synthesis of target product. In addition, a cooperative vinylogous anomeric-based oxidation pathway was suggested as rational mechanism for the synthesis of new hybrid pyridines.

Abstract
A new synthetic protocol for alicyclic[b]-fused pyridines with complete regioselectivity from α,β-unsaturated N-acetyl hydrazones and vinyl azides via Pd(II)-catalyzed C-H activation/cyclization/aromatization strategy has been described. A series of five- to eight-membered alicyclic[b]-fused pyridines were prepared in a one-step manner with wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
This review article focuses on the α-functionalization of acetophenones involving Kornblum oxidation and C-H functionalizations. Although various other strategies, such as classical approaches, enamine approaches and umpolung strategy are also known for this functionalization, here we discuss mainly the Kornblum oxidation approach and C-H functionalization strategy as they have advantages over the others. In Kornblum oxidation, the reaction uses iodine and dimethylsulfoxide and proceeds through the formation of arylglyoxal as the key intermediate. In C-H functionalization, the reaction requires metal, or metal-free catalyst, and generates radical intermediate in most cases. α-Functionalization of acetophenones is very important because of their huge applications in the synthesis of various natural products and pharmaceuticals and, therefore, a number of research articles have been published in this area. However, no review articles are available so far. In this article, we present a succinct discussion of various important and novel reactions, along with their mechanisms, published since 2012 to date. We believe that this first review article in this field will give readers one-stop information on this topic and encourage further intriguing work in this area.

Abstract
2,4,6-Triarylpyridines are key building blocks to access functional molecules that are used in the design of advanced materials, metal-organic frameworks, supramolecules, reactive chemical intermediates and drugs. A number of synthetic protocols to construct this heterocyclic scaffold have been developed to date, the most recent of which (2015-present) are included and discussed in the present review. An emphasis has been placed on the utility of each synthetic approach in view of the scope of aryl/hetaryl substituents, limitations and an outlook of each method to be used in applied sciences.

Abstract
In the process of drug discovery and development, an efficient and expedient synthetic method for imidazole-based small molecules from commercially available and cheap starting materials has great significance. Herein, we developed a TMSOTf-catalyzed synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles through the reaction of 1,2-diketones and aldehydes using hexamethyldisilazane as a nitrogen source under microwave heating and solvent-free conditions. The chemical structures of representative trisubstituted imidazoles were confirmed using X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. This synthetic method has several advantages including the involvement of mild Lewis acid, being metal- and additive-free, wide substrate scope with good to excellent yields and short reaction time. Furthermore, we demonstrate the application of the methodology in the synthesis of biologically active imidazole-based drugs. Trisubstituted imidazoles are synthesized efficiently from the readily available 1,2-diketones and aldehydes using hexamethyldisilazane as a new and stable nitrogen source under TMSOTf-catalysis system, microwave heating and solvent-free conditions.![]()

Abstract
Herein, we report a facile synthetic methodology for the preparation of 2,3-dialkylquinolines from anilines and propionaldehydes. This cyclization involved environmentally friendly Nafion® NR50 as an acidic catalyst with microwave irradiation as the heating source. A series of substituted 2-ethyl-3-methylquinolines were prepared from various anilines and propionaldehyde derivatives through this protocol with good to excellent yields. Some new chemical structures were confirmed by X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis and the related data were provided. The plausible reaction mechanism studies are also discussed.
