Abstract
The adhesion of high-viscosity oil contamination poses limitations on three-dimensional (3D) materials' practical use in treating oilfield-produced water (OPW). In this study, we developed a hybrid pDA/TiO2/SiO2 coating (PTS) on the surface of hydrophilic activated carbon (ACF1) through a combination of dopamine (DA) polymerization, ethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) hydrolysis, and the condensation of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with SiO2 NPs. This coating was designed for gravity-based oil-water separation. The inherent porosity and generous pore size of ACF1-PTS conferred it an ultra-high permeation flux (pure water flux of 3.72 × 105 L∙m-2∙h-1), allowing it to effectively separate simulated oil-water mixtures and oil-water emulsions while maintaining exceptional permeation flux and oil rejection efficiency. When compared to cleaning methods involving ethanol aqueous solutions and NaClO, ultraviolet (UV) illumination cleaning proved superior, enabling oil-contaminated ACF1-PTS to exhibit remarkable flux recovery efficiency and oil-removal capabilities during cyclic separation of actual OPW. Furthermore, the ACF1-PTS material demonstrated impressive stability and durability when exposed to acidic environments (acid, alkali, and salt), robust hydraulic washout conditions, and 25-cycle tests. This study offers valuable insights and research avenues for the development of highly efficient and environmentally friendly 3D oil-water separation materials for the actual treatment of OPW.

Superhydrophobic modification of cellulosic paper-based materials: Fabrication, properties, and versatile applications. Carbohydr Polym 2023; 305:120570. Abstract
Cellulose is the cheapest and mostly widespread green raw material on earth. Due to the easy and versatile developed modification of cellulose, many cellulosic paper-based sustainable materials and their multifunctional applications have attained increasing interest under the background of the implementation of the "plastic ban" policy. However, intrinsic cellulose paper is hydrophilic and non-water-proof, which highly limited its application, thus becoming a bottleneck for the development of "cellulosic paper-based plastic replacement". Unquestioningly, the superhydrophobic modification of cellulosic paper-based materials and the extension of their high value-added applications are highly desired, which is the main content of this review. More importantly, we presented the comprehensive discussion of the functionalized applications of superhydrophobic cellulosic paper-based materials ranging from conventional products to high value-added functional materials such as paper straw and paper mulch film for the first time, which have great industrialization potential and value. This review would offer the valuable guidance and insightful information for the rational construction of sustainable superhydrophobic cellulosic paper for advanced functional devices.

Abstract
In view of the increasingly serious problem of oil–water separation, it is a convenient and practical method to introduce a hydrogel coating on the surface of materials to make super-wetting materials. Nowadays, researchers of super-wetting materials pay more attention to the research and development of responsive materials. Here, a thermal and magnetic dual-responsive superhydrophilicity/underwater superoleophobicity switchable device (Fe3O4@PNIPAM-Cu) was simply fabricated using the Fe3O4 nanoparticles, poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM) hydrogel as the functional coating and copper foam as the skeleton through a one-step solution immersion method. The separation efficiency of the benzene-water mixture of this dual-responsive device can reach up to 99.98%. Even after 10 separation cycles, it maintained an efficiency of more than 99.90%. At temperatures above ~34°C, the device can stop oil–water separation. The experiments presented here demonstrate this dual-responsive device possesses excellent superhydrophilicity/underwater superoleophobicity, thermal-responsive property and magnetic navigation function.

Abstract
In this study, the polymer PTSPM-PMETAC with anion adsorption properties was prepared by a one-step method, then the amino-modified nano-SiO2 was grafted onto the polymer to improve the roughness of the surface and enhance the stability of superhydrophobic properties, and a high-stability superhydrophobic paper with ion-induced wettability transition properties was successfully prepared. The study found that the paper can realize the reversible control of surface wettability through the exchange between the anions PF6- and Cl- adsorbed on the surface of PMETAC, and further investigation of the effect of different solvents on the ion exchange properties found that water was the poor solvent for ion exchange, while the mixtures of methanol, acetone, and methanol & water were the good solvent. On the whole, the preparation of superhydrophobic paper by this method not only simple in preparation process, low in cost and strong in universality, but also the prepared superhydrophobic paper has high transparency and good stability, which has great application potential in industrial production.
