Abstract
Biopolymers derived from natural resources are highly abundant, biodegradable, and biocompatible, making them promising candidates to replace non-renewable fossil fuels and mitigate environmental and health impacts. Nano-fibrous biopolymers possessing advantages of biopolymers entangle with each other through inter-/intra-molecular interactions, serving as ideal building blocks for gel construction. These biopolymer nanofibers often synergize with other nano-building blocks to enhance gels with desirable functions and eco-friendliness across various applications in biomedical, environmental, and energy sectors. The inter-/intra-molecular interactions directly affect the assembly of nano-building blocks, which determines the structure of gels, and the integrity of connected nano-building blocks, influencing the mechanical properties and the performance of gels in specific applications. This review focuses on four biopolymer nanofibers (cellulose, chitin, silk, collagen), commonly used in gel preparations, as representatives for polysaccharides and polypeptides. The covalent and non-covalent interactions between biopolymers and other materials have been categorized and discussed in relation to the resulting gel network structures and properties. Nanomechanical characterization techniques, such as surface forces apparatus (SFA) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), have been employed to precisely quantify the intermolecular interactions between biopolymers and other building blocks. The applications of these gels are classified and correlated to the functions of their building blocks. The inter-/intra-molecular interactions act as "sewing threads", connecting all nano-building blocks to establish suitable network structures and functions. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the interactions involved in gel preparation and the design principles needed to achieve targeted functional gels.

Investigating the Effect of Carbon Nanotubes Decorated SmVO 4-MoS 2 Nanocomposite for Energy Storage Enhancement via VARTM-Fabricated Solid-State Structural Supercapacitors Using Woven Carbon Fiber. Abstract
Traditional supercapacitors are cumbersome and need separate enclosures, which add weight and reduce space efficiency. In contrast, structural supercapacitors combine energy storage with load-bearing materials, optimizing space and weight for automotive and aerospace applications. This study investigates the synthesis of SmVO4-MoS2 and SmVO4-MoS2-CNT nanocomposites, focusing on optimizing CNT concentration in SmVO4-MoS2-CNT for high-performance supercapacitors. The optimal concentration of SmVO4-MoS2-CNT is identified and used to fabricate structural supercapacitor devices via the vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) technique. The results indicate that the specific capacitance of Sm-Mo-C5, using a three-electrode system, reached 1.01 F cm-2 at a current density of 2.187 mA cm-2. The performance improvement is attributed to the synergistic interaction among SmVO4, MoS2, and CNTs, collectively enhancing conductivity and active site availability. The practical application of this study is demonstrated by synthesizing Sm-Mo-C5 on woven carbon fiber (WCF) and subsequently fabricating a structural supercapacitor device (SSD) using the VARTM. The SSD, produced via VARTM, exhibited a specific capacitance of 0.287 F cm- 2 at a current density of 2 A cm-2. The device showcased exceptional cyclic stability, maintaining 72.5% of its initial capacitance after 50,000 charge-discharge cycles. Additionally, it achieved a maximum energy density of 79.86 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 1017.69 W kg-1.

The present work deals with Sb2O3-MoS2nanocomposites electrode for supercapacitor applications. The x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations have been studied to analyze the phase formation, vibrational modes, morphology, elemental composition and binding energies of the prepared Sb2O3-MoS2nanocomposites electrode material, as well as their electrochemical measurements such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) have been analyzed. The developed Sb2O3-MoS2nanocomposites electrode provides a high specific capacitance of 454.3 F g-1at the current density of 1 A g-1. Further, the hybrid supercapacitor device has been constructed which shows 104.04 F g-1of specific capacitance at 2 A g-1and manifests a good energy density of 24.42 Wh kg-1at a power density of 1299.89 W kg-1.
