Abstract
In this paper, we highlight the synthesis of a variety of primary phosphine-boranes (RPH2 ⋅BH3 ) from the corresponding dichlorophosphines, simply by using Li[BH4 ] as reductant and provider of the BH3 protecting group. The method offers facile access not only to alkyl- and arylphosphine-boranes, but also to aminophosphine-boranes (R2 NPH2 ⋅BH3 ) that are convenient building blocks but without the protecting BH3 moiety thermally labile and notoriously difficult to handle. The borane-protected primary phosphines can be doubly deprotonated using n-butyllithium to provide soluble phosphanediides Li2 [RP⋅BH3 ] of which the phenyl-derivative Li2 [PhP⋅BH3 ] was structurally characterized in the solid state.

Abstract
We have quantum chemically investigated the structure, stability, and bonding mechanism in highly aggregated alkali-metal salts of bismuthanediide anions [RBi](2-) using relativistic density functional theory (DFT, at ZORA-BP86/TZ2P) in combination with a quantitative energy decomposition analysis (EDA). Our model systems are alkali-metal-supported bismuth polyhedra [(RBi)(n)M(2n-4)](4-) with unique interpenetrating shells of a bismuth polyhedron and an alkali-metal superpolyhedron. Furthermore, we have analyzed the trianionic inclusion complexes [M'@{(RBi)(n)M(2n-4)}](3-) involving an additional endohedral alkali-metal ion M'. The main objective is to assist the further development of synthetic approaches toward this class of compounds. Our analyses led to electron-counting rules relating, for example, the number of bonding orbitals (N(bond)) of the cage molecules [(RBi)(n)M(2n+Q)](Q) to the number of bismuth atoms (n(Bi)), alkali-metal atoms (n(M)), and net charge Q as N(bond) = n(Bi) + n(M) - Q (R = one-electron donor ligand; M = alkali metal; n = 4-12; Q = -4, -6, -8). Finally, on the basis of our findings, we predict the next members in the 5-fold symmetrical row of alkali-metallobismaspheres with a macroicosahedral arrangement.

Abstract
The primary aminoalkyl(bisphosphanyl)ferrocenes 2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)-1,1'-bis(phosphanyl)ferrocene (3a) and N,N-dimethyl-1-[1',2-bis(phosphanyl)ferrocenyl]ethylamine (3b) are readily available in two steps from the corresponding aminoalkylferrocenes. Deprotonation of 3a gave the first alkali metal aminoalkyl(bisphosphanido)ferrocene (4) as a one-dimensional polymer.

Abstract
The lithiation of potassium triisopropylsilylphosphanide yields the corresponding phosphanediide. The subsequent metathesis reaction with SrI(2) and BaI(2) in the presence of hexamethyldisiloxane gives hexalithium hexapotassium strontium hexakis(triisopropylsilylphosphanediide)bis(trimethylsilanolate) (1) and the corresponding barium derivative (2), respectively. The alkaline earth metal atoms are surrounded octahedrally by the phosphanediide ligands. Six P(3) faces of the octahedron are capped by the K atoms, and the P-P edges of two opposite P(3) faces are bridged by the lithium atoms. The Li cations are also bonded to the Me(3)SiO substituents giving a coordination number of three for the alkali metals.
