Abstract
A three-dimensional (3D) dysprosium(III) metal-organic framework with nicotinate N-oxide (NNO-) and squarate (C4O4 2-) mixed bridging ligands, [Dy(NNO)(C4O4)(H2O)] n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized. The dysprosium(III) ions are linked to each other by the squarate anions to form a unique dysprosium(III) squarate double-layered network; the NNO- anions then bridge such layers to complete the 3D framework. Complex 1 exhibits a two-step relaxation of magnetization under a dc field of 1000 Oe, with effective energy barrier values of 8.5 and 14.3 K, respectively.

Abstract
Four gadolinium(III) complexes with dicarboxylate ligands of formulas [Gd2(mal)3(H2O)5]n.2nH2O (1), [Gd2(mal)3(H2O)6]n (2), [NaGd(mal)(ox)(H2O)3]n (3), and [Gd2(ox)3(H2O)6]n.2.5nH2O (4) (mal = malonate; ox = oxalate) have been prepared, and their magnetic properties have been investigated as a function of the temperature. The structures of 1-3 have been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The crystal structure of 4 was already known, and it is made of hexagonal layers of Gd atoms that are bridged by bis-bidentate oxalate. Compound 1 is isostructural with the europium(III) malonate complex [Eu2(mal)3(H2O)5]n.2nH2O,1 whose structure was reported elsewhere. The Gd atoms in 1 define a two-dimensional network where a terminal bidentate and bridging bidentate/bis-monodentate and tris-bidentate coordination modes of malonate occur. Compound 2 has a three-dimensional structure with a structural phase transition at 226 K, which involves a change of the space group from I2/a to Ia. Although its structure at room temperature was already known, that below 226 K was not. Pairs of Gd atoms with a double oxo-carboxylate bridge occur in both phases, and the main differences between both structures deal with the Gd environment and the H-bond pattern. 3 is also a three-dimensional compound, and it was obtained by reacting Gd(III) ions with malonic acid in a silica gel medium. Oxalic acid results as an oxidized product of the malonic acid, and single crystals of the heteroleptic complex were produced. The Gd atoms in 3 are connected through bis-bidentate oxalate and carboxylate-malonate bridges in the anti-anti and anti-syn coordination modes. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibit weak but significant ferromagnetic couplings between the Gd(III) ions through the single (1) and double (2) oxo-carboxylate bridges, whereas antiferromagnetic interactions across the bis-bidentate oxalate account for the overall antiferromagnetic behavior observed in 3 and 4.

Abstract
Two novel homochiral lanthanide-silver heterometallic coordination polymers LnAg(OAc)(IN)3 [Ln = Nd (1), Eu (2), HIN = isonicotinic acid, HOAc = acetic acid] have been prepared under hydrothermal conditions, which were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both complexes are isostructural and crystallize in a hexagonal system, chiral space group P6(1)22. Both polymers are constructed from infinite right-handed homochiral helical chains with Ln-O-Ag connectivity, representing the first examples of homochiral lanthanide-transition metal heterometallic coordination polymers with a 3D coordination framework based on spontaneous resolution. Furthermore, the luminescent properties of 2 were studied.

Abstract
A systematic investigation of the factors governing the reaction product composition, hydrogen bonding, and symmetry was conducted in the MoO3/3-aminoquinuclidine/H2O system. Composition space analysis was performed through 36 individual reactions under mild hydrothermal conditions using racemic 3-aminoquinuclidine. Single crystals of three new compounds, [C7H16N2][Mo3O10] x H2O, [C7H16N2]2[Mo8O26] x H2O, and [C7H16N2]2[Mo8O26] x 4 H2O, were grown. The relative phase stabilities for these products are dependent upon the reactant mole fractions in the initial reaction gel. This phase stability information was used to direct the synthesis of two new noncentrosymmetric compounds, using either (S)-(-)-3-aminoquinuclidine dihydrochloride or (R)-(+)-3-aminoquinuclidine dihydrochloride. [(R)-C7H16N2]2[Mo8O26] and [(S)-C7H16N2]2[Mo8O26] both crystallize in the noncentrosymmetric space group P2(1) (No. 4), which has the polar crystal class 2 (C2). The second-harmonic generation activities were measured on sieved powders. The structure-directing properties of the molybdate components in each compound were determined using bond valence sums. The structures of all five compounds were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
A series of novel two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) praseodymium coordination polymers, namely, {[Pr3(PDA)4(HPDA)(H2O)8] x 8H2O}n (2), {[Pr2(PDA)3(H2O)3] x H2O}n (3), {[Pr(PDA)(H2O)4] x ClO4}n (4), and { [Pr2(PDA)2(H2O)5SO4] x 2H2O}n (5) (PDA = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic anion), was designed and synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Complexes 1-3 (chainlike polymer, {[Pr(PDA)(HPDA)(H2O)2] x 4H2O}n (1) was also obtained independently by us, although it has been reported recently by Ghosh et al.) were fabricated successfully by simply tuning the Pr/PDA ratio and exhibited various and intriguing topological structures from a 1D chain to a 3D network. While the synthetic strategy of 5 was triggered and further performed only after 1 was structurally characterized. The complexes were characterized by X-ray single-crystal determination, spectroscopic, and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility analyses. In complex 2 an unusual nanosized square motif as a building block constructed by eight Pr ions was further assembled into a highly ordered 2D grid compound. In complex 3 the decanuclear Pr metal-based structure as a repeat unit interpenetrated to form a novel 3D polymer. Complex 4 was a 3D network polymer fabricated through a hexanuclear Pr ring as a building block, and ClO4- anions as guests were trapped in the cavity. In complex 5 six Pr atoms, two SO4(2-) anions, and carboxylic oxygen bridges constructed an intriguing rectangle structure as a repeat unit in the grid to form a 2D coordination polymer in which the unique bi-bidentate coordination mode of SO4(2-) anion was observed.

Abstract
The ability of templated uranium sulfate fluorides to adopt diverse inorganic architectures is demonstrated in six novel materials. The inorganic structures present in [N2C6H16][UO2F2(SO4)](USFO-2), [N2C6H16][UO2F(SO4)]2(USFO-3), [N2C3H12][UO2F(SO4)]2.H2O (USFO-4), [N2C5H14][UO2F(H2O)(SO4]2(USFO-5), [N2C6H18]2[UO2F(SO4)]4.H2O (USFO-6) and [N2C3H12][UO2F(SO4)]2.H2O (USFO-7) range from infinite chains to five different layer topologies. The chain, and two of the five layers, have unprecedented structure types. These compounds illustrate the structural diversity within this new family of materials, arising from the varied coordination of the U6+ centres. Each material was synthesised under hydrothermal conditions, through reaction of uranyl acetate, sulfuric acid, HF(aq), water, and the respective organic template.
