Abstract
The simple formulae often presented for main-group metal complexes of oligopyridines (typically 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline, and 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) hide a wide variety of polymeric solid-state structures. We present an overview of these structures and reveal a plethora of 1D chains, including ladder assemblies, and 2D networks. In most assemblies, the polymeric backbone or network is defined by the metal atoms and bridging ligands other than oligopyridines. The heterocyclic ligands typically feature as peripheral decorations, often engaging in face-to-face supramolecular π-stacking interactions which define the assembly of the crystal. In 1D coordination polymers, three types of decoration predominate which we have defined as Type 1 (all the oligopyridines on the same side and π-stacked), Type 2 (alternating arrangement of oligopyridines), and Type 3 (a pairwise alternating structure).

Abstract
Three new zinc phosphites, [Hapy]2[Zn3(HPO3)4] (1; apy = 4-aminopyridine), [H2hepip][Zn3(HPO3)4]·(H2O)0.25 (2; hepip = N-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine), and [H2tmdab][Zn3(HPO3)4] (3; tmdab = N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-1,3-diaminobutane), have been synthesized and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The frameworks of 1–3 are constructed from 4-connected ZnO4 tetrahedra and 3-connected HPO3 pseudo pyramids with distinct connection mode driven by different organic amine templates. There are 12-membered ring (12-MR) and 8-MR apertures in the (3,4)-connected three-dimensional architecture of 1–3. It is notable that helical chains are observed in the framework of compound 3.

Abstract
Hydrothermal reaction of Na2WO4, VOSO4, 2,2'-bpy and H3PO4 has afforded in high yield the compound [V(IV)2V(V)6O14(bpy)8(PO4)2][PW11V(V)O40](bpy).12H2O (1). Compound 1 contains a novel octanuclear mixed valence V(IV,V) cluster, [V(IV)2V(V)6O14(bpy)8(PO4)2]4+, with [PW11V(V)O40]4- as counterion. In the vanadium cluster, four V(V) centers are localized and the remaining two V(IV) and two V(V) ions are disordered over four crystallographically equivalent positions. The isostructural compound [V(IV)2V(V)6O14(bpy)8(PO4)2][PMo11V(V)O40](bpy).3H2O (2) has also been synthesized. Thermodiffractometry experiments indicate that 2 is stable up to 360 degrees C. Redox activities for both the vanadium and molybdenum centers have been observed by solid-state electrochemical measurements performed on mechanically attached microparticles of 2. Magnetic measurements performed on have shown the occurrence of weak ferromagnetic interactions between the V(IV) centres (J = +0.34 cm(-1), H(ex) = -JS1 x S2), and combined with DFT calculations, have allowed to propose a localization of the two V(IV) centers on two of the four equivalent crystallographic sites. Finally high field electron paramagnetic resonance has evidenced the magnetic axial anisotropy of the paramagnetic centers (g(x) = g(y) = 1.975(3); g(z) = 1.939(4)).

Abstract
Six new zinc phosphates [C18H20N4][Zn4(HPO4)4(H2PO4)2(C18H18N4)3].2H2O (1), [Zn4(HPO4)4(C18H18N4)3].4H2O (2), [Zn3(HPO4)3(H2PO4)(C22H22N8)0.5(C22H24N8)0.5] (3), [Zn2(HPO4)2(C18H16N4)] (4), [Zn(HPO4)(C18H14N2)] (5), and [Zn2(HPO4)2(C12H10N4)] (6) have been synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions in the presence of 1,4-bis(N-benzimidazolyl)butane (L1), 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (L2), 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)naphthalene (L3), 9-(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)anthracene (L4), and 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene (L5), respectively, and their structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. Compound 1 exhibits a unique inorganic motif of isolated 8-rings interconnected by L1. Compound 2, also formed from L1, contains a previously unobserved chain structure composed of edge-sharing 4-rings and 8-rings. Compound 3, prepared from L2, possesses an unusual one-dimensional framework, which is composed of vertex-sharing 4-rings and triple fused 4-rings. The inorganic portions of 4, 5, and 6 each adopt a layer structure. The sheets in 4 and 5 have a 4.8(2) topology, and in 6, a 6(3) topology is observed. The zinc atoms in compounds 1-6 are all tetrahedrally coordinated by a combination of phosphate groups and organic ligands. Potential relationships between the inorganic motifs reported in the present study are identified. These are indicative of a possible pattern of self-assembly of zinc and phosphorus tetrahedra and indicative of the role of the organic ligands in the formation of hybrid structures.

Abstract
Two new transition-metal gallophosphates, (H(2)C(4)H(10)N(2))(3)[(Ti(2.5)(H(2)O)(4)Ga(5.5)(PO(4))(10)].2H(2)O (TGP-1) and [H(3.5)(C(4)H(13)N(3))(2)][(Ni(0.5)(OH)(4)Ga(5.5)(PO(4))(3)(HPO(4))(4)].2H(2)O (NGP-1), have been synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, electron paramagnetic resonance, electron probe microanalysis, and magnetic susceptibility data. TGP-1 exhibits a unique two-dimensional structure consisting of tetrahedral and octahedral metals centers and is the foremost paramagnetic TiGaPO material ever prepared. NGP-1 as well represents the first NiGaPO compound and adopts a layer structure that is constructed from hexameric M-O clusters of trigonal bipyramids and octahedra. In both compounds, the transition metals incorporate with gallium into octahedral sites only, while the four- and five-coordinated metals centers are only Ga(3+) ions. The unique sites for Ti(3+) and Ni(2+) ions have been initially elucidated from single-crystal structure refinements and further confirmed by bond-valence-sum calculations, EPR, and magnetic susceptibility studies.
