Abstract
The reaction of alkali metal acetates, M(OAc)·nH2O (M = Li, Na, K), with thermally and hydrolytically unstable di-tert-butylphosphate ((tBuO)2PO2H, dtbp-H) in a 1:1 molar ratio in MeOH at room temperature leads to clean formation of group 1 metal phosphates [Li(μ-dtbp)]n (1), [Na(μ-dtbp)]n (2), and [K4(μ-dtbp)4(μ-H2O)3]n (3). All three compounds are essentially M/L 1:1 complexes. Owing to the presence of larger potassium ions, additional coordinated water molecules are found in 3, which has been further employed as a precursor for the synthesis of a mixed-metal phosphate polymer [CaK(μ-H2O)3(μ-dtbp)3]n (4) by reacting 3 with Ca(OAc)2. Compounds 1-4 have been characterized by various analytical and spectroscopic techniques. Molecular structures of 1-4 have been established in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, which reveal them to be one-dimensional polymers, where the adjacent metal centers are connected through -O-P-O- bridges formed by the dtbp ligand. These complexes are rare examples of analytically pure alkali metal alkyl phosphates bearing no additional N-donor ligands (other than dtbp ligands, only water molecules are coordinated to the metal centers). Therefore, these compounds can be employed as single-source precursors (SSPs) for nano-sized ceramic phosphates. The thermogravimetric analysis of 1-4 reveals the loss of thermally labile tert-butyl substituents of the organophosphate ligands to form organic-free phosphate materials in the temperature range 300-500 °C. Solvothermal decomposition of 1-3 in boiling toluene leads to the formation of corresponding dihydrogen phosphates M(H2PO4) (M = Li, Na, and K). The thermal decomposition of heterometallic 4 in the temperature range 400-800 °C leads to the formation of phase-pure mixed-metal calcium potassium metaphosphate CaK(PO3)3.

Abstract
Highly symmetric enneanuclear copper(ii) phosphates [Cu9(Pz)6(μ-OH)3(μ3-OH)(ArOPO3)4(DMF)3] (PzH = pyrazole, Ar = 2,6-(CHPh2)2-4-R-C6H2; R = Me, 2MeAr; Et, 2EtAr; iPr, 2iPrAr; and Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3, 2Dip) comprising nine copper(ii) centers and pyrazole, hydroxide and DMF as ancillary ligands were synthesized by a reaction involving the arylphosphate monoester, 1, copper(i)chloride, pyrazole, and triethylamine in a 4 : 9 : 6 : 14 ratio. All four complexes were characterized by single crystal structural analysis. The complexes contain two distinct structural motifs within the multinuclear copper scaffold: a hexanuclear unit and a trinuclear unit. In the latter, the three Cu(ii) centres are bridged by a μ3-OH. Each pair of Cu(ii) centers in the trinuclear unit are bridged by a pyrazole ligand. The hexanuclear unit is made up of three dinuclear Cu(ii) motifs where the two Cu(ii) centres are bridged by an -OH and a pyrazole ligand. The three dinuclear units are connected to each other by phosphate ligands. The latter also aid the fusion of the trinuclear and the hexanuclear motifs. Magnetic studies reveal a strong antiferromagnetic exchange between the Cu(ii) centres of the dinuclear units in the hexanuclear part and a strong spin frustration in the trinuclear part leading to a degenerate ground state.

Abstract
Copper phosphate metalloligands [Cu(X-dipp)(Pyterpy)]2 [X = H (1), Br (2)], exemplifying expanded 4,4'-bipyridine type molecules, have been synthesized by reacting 4'-(4-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (Pyterpy) and para substituted 2,6-diisopropylphenyl phosphate (X-dippH2) with copper acetate. The pendant N,N-ends of dimeric copper phosphates 1 and 2 have been forced to engage in further coordination by limiting the concentration of Pyterpy in the reaction mixture to yield rare Pyterpy bridged corner-shared polymeric copper phosphates [Cu2(X-dippH)(X-dipp)(Pyterpy)(H2O)]n [X = Cl (3), Br (4), I (5)]. The formation of 1-5 is supported by spectroscopic and analytical data. The solid state structures of these compounds have further been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Soluble dimeric complexes 1 and 2 have been assessed for their in vitro anti-tumour properties against human breast and colorectal cancer cell lines. The DNA cleavage, protein cleaving and cytotoxicity assays revealed that these compounds are effective in cleaving DNA, while the activity of 1 as an anti-tumor agent is better than 2.

Abstract
The use of a potentially tridentate mono-anionic bridging ligand, 1,3-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)-propan-2-ol (bdmpp-H), in assembling new dimeric copper complexes with interesting magnetic properties has been investigated. The reaction of copper hydroxide or copper acetate with phenyl phosphinic acid or diphenyl phosphinic acid in the presence of bdmpp-H produces the dinuclear complexes [Cu(bdmpp)(ppi)]2 (1) and [Cu(bdmpp)(dppi-H)]2(dppi)2 (2) (ppi-H = phenylphosphinic acid: dppi-H = diphenylphosphinic acid), respectively. The products have been characterized with the help of analytical, thermal, and spectroscopic (IR, UV-vis, and EPR) techniques. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies of 1 and 2 reveal that the two bdmpp ligands hold together the dimeric copper unit in each complex through mu-O alkoxide and the pyrazolyl nitrogen ligating centers. Two phenyl phosphinate ligands additionally bridge the dicopper core in 1 to result in octahedral coordination geometry around each metal ion. The diphenyl phosphinic acid acts as a terminal ligand in 2, and thus completes a square pyramidal geometry around each copper ion. Both complexes show a very short Cu...Cu separation (3.001 and 3.065 angstroms for 1 and 2, respectively). The investigation of the magnetic properties reveals the efficiency of the double alkoxide bridge between the two paramagnetic copper ions to mediate strong antiferromagnetic interactions [J/k(B) = -620(5) K (-431(4) cm(-1)) and -685(5) K (-476(4) cm(-1)) for 1 and 2, respectively]. Compounds 1 and 2, along with a few other copper phosphate complexes, were tested as catalysts for the oxidative polymerization of 2,6-dimethylphenol; 1 and 2 were found to be efficient catalysts with an increased selectivity for the formation of the polyphenylene ether. However a related mononuclear octahedral copper complex [Cu(imz)4(dtbp)2] (dtbp-H = di-tert-butylphosphate) was found to be more efficient.

Abstract
Copper(II) perchlorate and (PhCONH)P(O)(OH)2 (H2bpa) react in methanol to yield [Cu(Hbpa)2]n, a novel layered solid that displays several interesting features. Unlike the previously reported copper phosphonates, a rare hexacoordination around the metal is observed in the title compound because of the amide C=O coordination to Cu in addition to the phosphoramidate P-O coordination. The six-membered chelate rings present in the title compound are made up of five different elements (Cu, P, C, N, and O).

Abstract
Novel polynuclear Cu(II) complexes containing derivatives of 1,2,4-trizaole and pivalate ligands, [Cu(3)(mu(3)-OH)(mu-adetrz)(2)(piv)(5)(H(2)O)].6.5H(2)O (1) (adetrz = 4-amino-3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-triazole, piv = pivalate), [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)(mu-atrz)(2)(mu-piv)(4)(piv)(2)].2MeOH.H(2)O (2) (atrz = 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole), [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)(mu-tbtrz)(2)(mu-piv)(2)(piv)(4)].4H(2)O (3) (tbtrz = 4-tert-butyl-1,2,4-trizaole), and [Cu(4)(mu(3)-O)(2)(mu-admtrz)(4)(admtrz)(2)(mu-piv)(2)(piv)(2)].2[Cu(2)(mu-H(2)O)(mu-admtrz)(piv)(4)].13H(2)O [4 = 4a.2(4b).13H(2)O; admtrz = 4-amino-3,5-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole], have been prepared and structurally characterized. 1 is an asymmetrical triangular complex containing a [Cu(3)(mu(3)-OH)] core with two Cu---Cu edges spanned by bridging adetrz ligands. 2, 3, and 4a are novel tetranuclear compounds containing a [Cu(4)(mu(3)-O)(2)] or [Cu(4)(mu(3)-OH)(2)] core with Cu---Cu edges spanned by bridging 1,2,4-triazole or pivalate ligands. 4b is a dinuclear compound with one admtrz and one water bridge, and it is the first dinuclear Cu(II) triazole complex with one bridging water molecule. 1 is one of few reported triangular Cu(II) complexes with derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole, while 2, 3, and 4a are the first group of the nonlinear tetranuclear Cu(II) compounds with derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies on the powder samples of 1-3 reveal the overall antiferromagnetic coupling between Cu(II) ions with J values of -55.6 to -12.8 cm(-1) (1), -216.4 to 0 cm(-1) (2), and -259.8 to 4.8 cm(-1) (3).
