Abstract
A new class of ferroelectric coordination-based polymers has been developed by the self-assembly of lipophilic zinc porphyrin (ZnP) and ditopic bridging ligands. The ligands contain dipolar benzothiadiazole or fluorobenzene units, which are axially coordinated to ZnP with the dipole moments oriented perpendicular to the coordination axes. The coordination-based polymers show ferroelectric characteristics in the liquid crystalline state, as revealed by distinctive hysteresis in the polarization-electric field (P-E) loops and inversion current peaks in current-voltage (I-V) loops. The observed ferroelectric properties are explainable by flip-flop rotation of the dipolar axle ligands induced by the applied electric field, as demonstrated by the positive-up-negative-down (PUND) measurements. The present system provides a new operating principle in supramolecular ferroelectrics.

Abstract
Abstract
From the adsorptive precipitation of Cl–, eosin Y (EY) and Ag+, we developed in-situ inclusion of EY into growing silver chloride particles to form ternary electronegative micro-conductors. The composition of the particles was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), ion chromatography (IC) and spectrophotometry and the size and pattern of the particles characterized by the particle size analysis, X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetry. The results showed that the in-situ inclusion of EY into AgCl crystal particles in layer-by-layer and the supermolecular complex {[(AgCl)50EY]n}2n– was formed in cubic and globe-like shape. The ternary inclusion particles adsorbed cationic dyes selectively, rapidly and with high efficiency. A representative cationic dye, victoria blue B (VBB), was used to investigate the performance of the ternary particles as adsorbents and the mechanism involved. The equilibrium adsorption capacity of the ternary particles is 353 mg/g VBB, over 10 times higher than absorption to the silver chloride–only particles and over 3 times to activated carbon. Moreover, the adsorption approached the equilibrium in 10 min, which is much less than that with activated carbon in about 2 h. This work advanced a sample method for preparation of the supramolecular inclusion materials as dye adsorbent and it provided a simple, efficient and practical approach for the recovery or removal of organic substances from aqueous.

Abstract
The self-assembly and self-organization of porphyrins and related macrocycles enables the bottom-up fabrication of photonic materials for fundamental studies of the photophysics of these materials and for diverse applications. This rapidly developing field encompasses a broad range of disciplines including molecular design and synthesis, materials formation and characterization, and the design and evaluation of devices. Since the self-assembly of porphyrins by electrostatic interactions in the late 1980s to the present, there has been an ever increasing degree of sophistication in the design of porphyrins that self-assemble into discrete arrays or self-organize into polymeric systems. These strategies exploit ionic interactions, hydrogen bonding, coordination chemistry, and dispersion forces to form supramolecular systems with varying degrees of hierarchical order. This review concentrates on the methods to form supramolecular porphyrinic systems by intermolecular interactions other than coordination chemistry, the characterization and properties of these photonic materials, and the prospects for using these in devices. The review is heuristically organized by the predominant intermolecular interactions used and emphasizes how the organization affects properties and potential performance in devices.
