Abstract
The supramolecular chemistry of coordination compounds has become an important research domain of modern inorganic chemistry. Herein, six isostructural group IIB coordination compounds containing a 2-{[(2-methoxyphenyl)imino]methyl}phenol ligand, namely dichloridobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)zinc(II), [ZnCl2(C28H26N2O4)], 1, diiodidobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)zinc(II), [ZnI2(C28H26N2O4)], 2, dibromidobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)cadmium(II), [CdBr2(C28H26N2O4)], 3, diiodidobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)cadmium(II), [CdI2(C28H26N2O4)], 4, dichloridobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)mercury(II), [HgCl2(C28H26N2O4)], 5, and diiodidobis(2-{(E)-[(2-methoxyphenyl)azaniumylidene]methyl}phenolato-κO)mercury(II), [HgI2(C28H26N2O4)], 6, were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography and spectroscopic techniques. All six compounds exhibit an infinite one-dimensional ladder in the solid state governed by the formation of hydrogen-bonding and π-π stacking interactions. The crystal structures of these compounds were studied using geometrical and Hirshfeld surface analyses. They have also been studied using M06-2X/def2-TZVP calculations and Bader's theory of `atoms in molecules'. The energies associated with the interactions, including the contribution of the different forces, have been evaluated. In general, the π-π stacking interactions are stronger than those reported for conventional π-π complexes, which is attributed to the influence of the metal coordination, which is stronger for Zn than either Cd or Hg. The results reported herein might be useful for understanding the solid-state architecture of metal-containing materials that contain MIIX2 subunits and aromatic organic ligands.

Abstract
Using deprotonated forms of tridentate azo-containing pyridine-2-/pyrazine-2-carboxamide 2-[N-(2-phenylazo)carbamoyl]-pyridine/pyrazine, seven bis-ligand complexes of FeII/CoII and FeIII/CoIII have been synthesized. Molecular structures of six of them reveal that these six-coordinate complexes utilize all available donor sites of the ligands and assume MII/IIIN2(pyridine/pyrazine)N'2(amide)N''2(azo) coordination. Complexes of FeII and CoIII are diamagnetic and those of FeIII and CoII are paramagnetic (S = 1/2; room-temperature magnetic data and EPR spectra). Cyclic voltammetry experiments in CH2Cl2 reveal facile metal-centred FeIII/FeII and CoIII/CoII redox responses, and all complexes display quasireversible-to-irreversible ligand(azo)-centred redox processes. The E1/2 values of MIII/MII redox processes for Fe, Co and Ni (reported earlier) complexes of the pyridine amide ligand linearly correlate with those for six-coordinate [MIII(bpy)3]3+/[MII(bpy)3]2+, [MIII(terpy)2]3+/[MII(terpy)2]2+, [MIII(L)]+/[MII(L)]0 or [MIII(L')2]+/[MII(L')2]0 (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, terpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine, hexadentate L(2-) = 1,4-bis[o-(pyridine-2-carboxamidophenyl)]-1,4-dithiobutane and tridentate L'(-) = {2-[2-(arylimino)phenylazo]-pyridine}) couples. Density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP level and time-dependent (TD)-DFT calculations rationalize the electronic structure of the present complexes and throw light on the origin of observed electronic transitions.

Abstract
Abstract
In this work, a coordination polymer formed from 4,5-diamino-3-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ium chloride (DAMT·HCl) and HgCl2 formulated as [Hg5(μ-DAMT)2(μ-Cl)6(μ
3-Cl)2Cl2]
n
has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray analysis of the complex revealed an organic-inorganic hybrid coordination polymer containing three different mercury atoms with coordination numbers of 4 (HgN(μ-Cl)2(μ
3-Cl)), 5 (Hg(μ-Cl)3(μ
3-Cl)Cl), and 6 (HgN2(μ-Cl)2(μ
3-Cl)2) and seesaw, octahedral, and square pyramidal geometries, respectively. The polymeric chains are extended to a three-dimensional (3D) array by C–H···Cl and N–H···Cl interactions. In addition to these hydrogen bonds, there are Hg···Cl interactions with the mercury atoms with coordination numbers 4 and 5 to complete their pseudo-square planar and -octahedral geometries, respectively.

Abstract
Two distinct three-dimensional (3D) CdII coordination polymers with 1,2-naphthalenedicarboxylate (ndc2–) and dipyridyl co-ligands have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Interestingly, the slight difference in the two 4,4′-dipyridyl building blocks, namely, 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpp) and 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe) with C–C or C=C spacers, results in the significant structural divergence of the resultant coordination polymers. Structural analysis reveals that complexes [Cd(ndc)(bpp)(H2O)]n (1) and {[Cd5(ndc)4(bpe)2(OH)2](H2O)1.5}n (2) are constructed by discrete metal–carboxylate dimeric units and metal–carboxylate chains, respectively, which are further extended by bpp or bpe linkers to form the inclined interpenetrated two-dimensional (2D)→3D network for 1 and the 3D porous framework for 2. This result reveals that the flexibility of auxiliary ligands plays an important role in the structural assemblies of coordination networks. The thermal and luminescence properties of both complexes were also investigated in solid state.

Abstract
The title compound, [Cu(C11H9N4O)(CH3CO2)]·2H2O (CuL), is a hydrated copper acetate complex of the ligand N-[(pyridin-4-yl)meth-yl]pyrazine-2-carboxamide (HL). Complex CuL has a metal-organic framework (MOF) structure with a 10 (3) network topology. The ligand coordinates in a bidentate and a bis-monodentate manner, bridging three equivalent Cu(II) atoms via the pyridine N atom and the second pyrazine N atom. The Cu(II) atom has a fivefold coordination sphere, CuN4O, being coordinated to three N atoms of the ligand and the acetate O atom in the equatorial plane and to the second pyrazine atom in the apical position. This gives rise to a fairly regular square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, the water mol-ecules are linked to each other and to the three-dimensional framework via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. There are also a number of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds present within the framework.

Abstract
The title compounds, C11H10N4O (HL1) and C11H10N4O (HL2), are pyridine 2-ylmethyl and 4-ylmethyl derivatives, respectively, of pyrazine-2-carboxamide. HL1 was measured at 153 K and crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/c with Z = 4. There has been a report of the same structure measured at room temperature but assumed to crystallize in the triclinic space group P-1 with Z = 4 [Sasan et al. (2008 ▶). Monatsh. Chem. 139, 773-780]. In HL1, the pyridine ring is inclined to the pyrazine ring by 61.34 (6)°, while in HL2 this dihedral angle is 84.33 (12)°. In both mol-ecules, there is a short N-H⋯N inter-action involving the pyrazine carboxamide unit. In the crystal of HL1, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(10) ring motif. The dimers are linked via bifurcated-acceptor C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming sheets lying parallel to (102). The sheets are linked via C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional structure. In the crystal of HL2, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯N and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds to form chains propagating along [010]. The chains are linked via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming sheets lying parallel to (100). Within the sheets there are π-π inter-actions involving neighbouring pyrazine rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.711 (15) Å]. Adjacent sheets are linked via parallel slipped π-π inter-actions involving inversion-related pyridine rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.6395 (17) Å], forming a three-dimensional structure.
