Abstract
This comprehensive review, covering the years 1968-2022, is not only a retrospective investigation of a certain group of linearly fused aromatics, called acenes, but also a presentation of the current state of the knowledge on the synthesis, reactions, and applications of these compounds. Their characteristic feature is substitution of the aromatic system by one, two, or three organophosphorus groups, which determine their properties and applications. The (PIII, PIV, PV) phosphorus atom in organophosphorus groups is linked to the acene directly by a P-Csp2 bond or indirectly through an oxygen atom by a P-O-Csp2 bond.

Abstract
Long-chain n-alkyl-H-phosphinic acids (Alk = C4-C18) are chemoselectively synthesized in yields up to 90% via the direct one-pot alkylation/oxidation of red phosphorus (Pn) in the multi-phase alkyl bromide/KOH/H2O/toluene system with alkyl-PEG recyclable micellar catalysts, which demonstrate good recyclability.

Abstract
The electrophile-electrophile cross-coupling of carboxylic acid derivatives and alkylpyridinium salts via C-N bond cleavage is developed. The method is distinguished by its simplicity and steers us through a variety of functionalized ketones in good to excellent yields. Besides acid chlorides, carboxylic acids were also employed as acylating agents, which enabled us to incorporate acid-sensitive functional groups such as MOM, BOC, and acetal. Control experiments with TEMPO revealed a radical pathway.

Abstract
The results of studies on the application of elemental phosphorus for the synthesis of important organophosphorus compounds are surveyed and summarized. Currently, this trend represents a synthetically, environmentally and technologically attractive alternative to classical organophosphorus chemistry based on toxic and corrosive phosphorus chlorides. Direct phosphination and phosphinylation of organic compounds with elemental phosphorus (discussed in the first part of the review) basically extend the range of available phosphines, phosphine chalcogenides and phosphinic acids and provides further development of their synthetic potential (discussed in the second part of the review). It is shown that the breakthrough in this area is largely due to the discovery of reactions of elemental phosphorus (white and red) with various electrophiles in superbasic suspensions and emulsions derived from alkali metal hydroxides and to the development of electrochemical, electrocatalytic and catalytic activation of white phosphorus.
The bibliography includes 299 references.

Abstract
AbstractThe new efficient and environmentally safe methods for preparation of various classes of organic and organoelement compounds, including organonickel sigma-complexes and organophosphorus compounds bearing P–C bonds have been created using the electrochemical methods. The synthetic application of the elaborated techniques towards the process of formation of new carbon-carbon, carbon-metal and carbon-phosphorus bonds are discussed. The mechanisms of the proposed processes and the nature of the formed in the overall electrochemical process intermediates are disclosed. The elaborated methods operated in the principals of “green chemistry” can be considered as an efficient alternative to some classical methods for preparation of active catalysts, biologically active molecules and new polynuclear complexes displaying practically useful properties.
