Abstract
The enantiomerically pure Schiff base ligands H2L-S and H2L-R yield chiral heterometallic dodecanuclear complexes of the form [Cu8Ln4(OH)8(OMe)4(O2CBut)8(L-S or L-R)4(H2O)4] where LnIII=Gd (1S), Tb (2S), Dy (3S, 3R), Ho (4S, 4R), Er (5S) or Y (6S, 6R) and H2L=(S or R)-2-{[(1-hydroxypropan-2-yl)imino]methyl}-6-methoxyphenol. The complexes are isomorphous and crystallize in the non-centrosymmetric polar space group C2 in enantiomeric conformation. The chirality of the Schiff base ligands originates from the respective S- or R- enantiomer of 2-aminopropan-1-ol, is imparted to the complexes and to the crystals that belong to non-centrosymmetric space group. The chirality and enantiomeric conformation of all complexes are retained in dmso solutions as confirmed by Circular Dichroism spectra which consist of mirror images, expected for enantiomeric pairs. All complexes consist of four distorted cubane-like subunits [Cu2Ln2(μ3-OH)2(μ3-OMe)(μ3-OR)], which share the LnIII ions and result in a cyclic distorted tetragonal arrangement; each edge of the {LnIII 4} quadrilateral is occupied by two μ-OH- ions that further bridge to a CuII ion. Magnetic susceptibility measurements revealed ferromagnetic interactions for 3S with LnIII=Dy and antiferromagnetic interactions for all other complexes. AC susceptibility data of 3S under 1 kOe external dc field indicate slow magnetic relaxation phenomena below 2 K.

Abstract
In an assisted self-assembly approach starting from the [Mn6 O2 (piv)10 (4-Me-py)2 (pivH)2 ] cluster a family of Mn-Ln compounds (Ln=Pr-Yb) was synthesised. The reaction of [Mn6 O2 (piv)10 (4-Me-py)2 (pivH)2 ] (1) with N-methyldiethanolamine (mdeaH2 ) and Ln(NO3 )3 ⋅ 6H2 O in MeCN generally yields two main structure types: for Ln=Tb-Yb a previously reported Mn5 Ln4 motif is obtained, whereas for Ln=Pr-Eu a series of Mn7 Ln3 clusters is obtained. Within this series the GdIII analogue represents a special case because it shows both structural types as well as a third Mn2 Ln2 inverse butterfly motif. Variation in reaction conditions allows access to different structure types across the whole series. This prompts further studies into the reaction mechanism of this cluster assisted self-assembly approach. For the Mn7 Ln3 analogues reported here variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest that antiferromagnetic interactions between the spin carriers are dominant. Compounds incorporating Ln=NdIII (2), SmIII (3) and GdIII (5) display SMM behaviour. The slow relaxation of the magnetisation for these compounds was confirmed by ac measurements above 1.8 K.

Abstract
The reaction of a multisite coordination ligand, LH3, with Cu(II) salts and Ln(NO3)3·nH2O in a 1:2:1 stoichiometric ratio in the presence of triethylamine was found to afford a series of one-dimensional heterometallic [{Cu5Ln2(L)2(μ3-OH)4(ClO4)(NO3)3(OH2)5}(ClO4)2(H2O)x]∞ [Ln = Tb(1), Dy(2) and Ho(3), x = 4.25, 5.5, and 5 for 1-3, respectively] coordination polymers. Complexes 1-3 have been characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The detailed study of the magnetic properties has also been performed and compared with the parent [Cu5Ln2] molecular analogues. The ac susceptibility measurements for complexes 1-3 confirm their SMM behavior with the following characteristics: Δeff/kB = 23.4 K, τ0 = 1.1 × 10-6 s and Δeff/kB = 27.9 K, τ0 = 6.6 × 10-7 s under 0 and 1200 Oe dc fields, respectively for 1; Δeff/kB = 8.3 K, τ0 = 3.1 × 10-6 s for 2 under 0 dc field. For 3, the fast QTM below 4 K prevents the estimation of the SMM energy barrier. Remarkably, the magnetic and SMM properties of the previously reported molecular [Cu5Ln2] analogues are preserved after their assembly in these coordination networks.

Abstract
Four novel Cd(ii) supramolecular complexes (1–4) have been prepared and their luminescent and nonlinear optical properties have been researched. Complexes 1 and 3 showed obvious nonlinear absorption when compared with to complexes 2 and 4.

Abstract
Two benzoxazoles derivative ligands were synthesized from the condensation of 3,5-di-tert-butyl-o-benzoquinone (DTBBQ) with ethanolamine or 1,3-diamino-2-hydroxypropane in methanol. Condensation of DTBBQ with ethanolamine gives the expected 5,7-di-tert-butyl-2-methylenhydroxylbenzoxazole (HL1) while with 1,3-diamino-2-hydroxypropane it gives (2-hydroxyethyl-2-{2,4-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1-phenol-6 amino}-2{5,7-di-tert-butyl-benzoxazole}) (H(2)L2) with only one benzoxazole ring instead of the symmetric bis-benzoxazole derivative. The structure of HL1 and H(2)L2 were confirmed by NMR-spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction on a single crystal for HL1. The reaction of HL1 with CuCl(2) gives a mononuclear [Cu(II)(HL1)(2)Cl(2)] (1) complex for which the crystal structure shows that HL1 is preserved. In contrast, upon reaction with nickel(II), cobalt(II), and manganese(II) H(2)L2 is further oxidized and transformed in new ligands HL3 in mononuclear complexes [M(II)(L3)(2)] (M = Ni(II) (2); M = Co(II) (3)) and H(2)L4 in tetranuclear complex [Mn(II)(4)(HL4)(4)Cl(4)] (4) as found from the crystal structures of complexes 2-4. Electrochemical studies for complexes 2 and 3 evidence complicated redox properties. [Mn(II)(4)(HL4)(4)Cl(4)] (4) has a cubane-like structure with a "4 + 2" fashion The magnetic susceptibility of 4 is well fitted considering one Mn---Mn interaction J(a)(Mn(II)-Mn(II)) = -0.50(1) cm(-1) with g = 2.00(7).
