Abstract
Synthesis, inter-conversions and biological study of the dichloro bridged dicopper(II) compound [CuLCl]2 (1) and its two mononuclear derivatives [CuLCl(H2O)]·H2O (2) and [CuLCl(py)] (3) (HL=2-(2-pyridylmethyleneamino)benzenesulfonic acid) are described. The dimeric compound 1 collapses into monomers 2 and 3 in the presence of coordinating solvents, water and pyridine, respectively, and 1 is regenerated upon simple stirring of 2 or 3 in methanol. The reactions of 1 with neutral (present study) and charged (earlier studies) ligands result in monomeric and multimeric compounds, respectively, attesting that it is a versatile dicopper(II) precursor. The anticancer activity of these copper complexes (1-3) was screened against lung (A-549) and breast (MDA-MB-231) human cancer cell lines. The IC50 (half maximal inhibitory concentration) value for one (3) of the compounds suggests preferential cytotoxicity against breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cell line. Furthermore, the IC50 value obtained for complex 3 is found to be almost two-fold times cytotoxic than the standard drug cisplatin. In addition, the underlying possible mechanism of its apoptosis-inducing efficacy in MDA-MB-231 cells has been rationalized by using flow cytometry (FACS) and Hoechst 33342/propidium iodide (PI) fluorescence staining. The stimulation of apoptotic induction for complex 3 has further been affirmed by reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mitochondrial aggregations studies.

Abstract
Three ternary copper (II) complexes containing 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, 1), dipyrido[3,2-d:2',3'-f]quinoxaline (dpq, 2) and dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine (dppz, 3), with the formulation [Cu2(NCL)2(H4PASP)]·4.5H2O (1-3) (where NCL=the diimine coligand, H4PASP=N,N'-(p-xylylene)di-2-aminosuccinic acid), were isolated and characterized. The binding of these complexes with calf thymus DNA was studied using UV-visible absorption titration, emission, and circular dichroism spectroscopy, among other methods. The changes in physicochemical properties that occurred upon binding of these complexes with DNA indicate that binding occurs primarily through intercalative interactions. Human tumor cell lines HeLa, PC3, and HepG2 were treated with the copper(II) complexes in vitro and cell survival rate was assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethyl thiazol-2yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and crystal violet survival assay. Flow cytometry was performed on treated cells labeled with AnnexinV/Propidium Iodide staining to determine rates of apoptosis. Western blot was performed to determine the expression levels of the apoptotic markers p53, Bax, and Bcl-2. The complexes reduced cell viability and induced apoptosis in cells of human tumor cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, using a nude mouse xenograft model, we found that the three ternary copper (II) complexes inhibited human tumor cell growth in vivo. In conclusion, these novel synthetic copper complexes have profound antitumor effects on human tumor cells and are promising therapeutic agents for human tumors.

Abstract
A polyazamacrocycle formed from two tris(2-aminoethyl)amine units connected by 1H-pyrazole units shows unique hexanuclear Cu(ii) complexes by combination of two binuclear Cu(ii) cryptand complexes through pyrazolate moieties belonging to both cryptands. The formation of these dimeric entities has been proven both in solution by potentiometric studies and mass spectroscopy and in the solid state by X-ray diffraction of crystals of three different batches of formulae [Cu6(H-3)2(H2O)2](TsO)6·22H2O (), [Cu6(H-3)2(NO3)2](NO3)4·2H2O () and [Cu6(H-3)2Cl2]Cl4·(C4H5N3O2)2·14.35H2O (). The hexanuclear unit in and can be viewed like three magnetically independent binuclear complexes with J = -366(3) cm(-1), g = 2.08(1) for and J = -360(3) cm(-1), g = 2.07(1) for .

Hexanuclear-based 1 and octanuclear metallamacrocycle-based three-dimensional isostructural framework 2 and 3 have been obtained and characterised. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that the three complexes display antiferromagnetic couplings.

Abstract
The title compound, [Ni(C4H5N4O2)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, represents the first transition metal complex of the novel chelating triazole ligand, 2-(5-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)acetic acid (ATAA), to be structurally characterized. In the mol-ecule of the title complex, the nickel(II) cation is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two water mol-ecules in axial positions and two O and two N atoms from two trans-oriented chelating anions of the deprotonated ATAA ligand, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The trans angles of the octa-hedron are all 180° due to the inversion symmetry of the mol-ecule. The cis-angles are in the range 87.25 (8)-92.75 (8)°. The six-membered chelate ring adopts a slightly twisted boat conformation with puckering parameters Q = 0.542 (2) Å, Θ = 88.5 (2) and ϕ = 15.4 (3)°. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the amino group and the chelating carboxyl-ate O atom of two trans-oriented ligands. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules and lattice water mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework by an extensive network of N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
