Abstract
A 1 : 1 metallic charge-transfer salt is obtained by cosublimation of (Z,E)-(SMe)2Me2TTF and TCNQ. X-ray diffraction studies confirm the formation of segregated stacks comprising donor and acceptor molecules in [(E)-(SMe)2Me2TTF](TCNQ). The crystal packing features lateral SS interactions between TTF stacks, which is in sharp contrast to that in (TTF)(TCNQ). Structural analysis and theoretical studies afford a partial charge-transfer (ρ ≈ 0.52), leading to a system with the electronic structure close to quarter-filled. Resistivity measurements reveal that this material behaves as a metal down to 56 K and 22 K at 1 bar and 14.9 kbar, respectively. The thermopower is negative in the metallic regime, indicating the dominant role of the acceptor stacks for the observed conducting behavior. Analysis of single-crystal EPR spectra shows the remaining spin susceptibility at 4.3 K, suggesting the importance of the Hubbard U correction. These results highlight the judicious engineering of electronic and geometrical effects on the TTF core; the combined use of methyl and thiomethyl groups has decreased the TCNQ bandwidth while maintaining the segregated stacks, converting the metal to insulator (M-I) transition to more 4kF like. In addition, the enhanced SS contacts between the TTF stacks lead to more rapidly decreasing M-I transition temperature under various pressures.

Abstract
Two new dithiolene ligand precursors, containing fused TTF and alkyl thiophenic moieties 3,3'-{[2-(5-(tert-butyl)thieno[2,3-d][1,3]dithiol-2-ylidene)-1,3-dithiole-4,5-diyl]bis[sulfanediyl]}dipropanenitrile (α-tbtdt, 1), and 3,3'-{[2-(5-methylthieno[2,3-d][1,3]dithiol-2-ylidene)-1,3-dithiole-4,5-diyl]bis[sulfanediyl]}dipropanenitrile (α-mtdt, 2), were synthesized and characterized. The electrochemical properties of these electronic donors were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in dichloromethane. Both compounds show two quasi-reversible oxidation processes, versus Ag/AgCl, typical of TTF donors at E11/2 = 279 V and E21/2 = 680 V for 1 and E11/2 = 304 V and E21/2 = 716 V in the case of 2. The single-crystal X-ray structure of 1 and of a charge transfer salt of 2, (α-mtdt)[Au(mnt)2] (3), are reported.

Abstract
The second polymorph, the β-crystal, of the nickel-bis-dithiolene compound [4'-CF3bzPy][Ni(mnt)2], where 4'-CF3bzPy = 1-(4'-trifluoromethylbenzyl)pyridinium and mnt(2-) = maleonitriledithiolate, was obtained. The variable-temperature single crystal structures, magnetic behavior in 1.8-300 K and dielectric nature in 123-373 K have been investigated for the β-crystal. This polymorph experiences two hysteretic magnetic phase transitions in a narrow temperature region (190-217 K) with the thermal hysteresis loops ca. 6 K and ca. 11 K. The two hysteretic magnetic phase transitions are coupled with two isostructural phase transitions (IPTs), respectively, which are driven by the novel step-wise dynamic orientation motion of the anion and cation in the β-crystal. There is an absence of a dielectric anomaly in the structural transformation temperature interval. However, a dielectric relaxation, related to the dipole motion of polar CF3 groups in the cations under an ac electrical field, emerges in the high-temperature phase.
