Abstract
Four salts of an anionic iron(III) bis-complex, [Fe(LL-thr)2]1-, were synthesized from water or methanol. H2LL-thr is a tridentate ligand derived from the L-threonine amino acid, and the cations used are Li+ (1), Na+ (2), K+ (3), and Ba2+ (4). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed that all the complexes are coordination polymers of different dimensionalities. The iron(III) complex binds to cations through its coordinated phenolate and non-coordinated carboxylate oxygen atoms. While Li+ forms a linear chain, all others have a pair of bridged cations intervening the iron(III) complexes. The 3D network of Ba2+ salt has a sizeable solvent-accessible space occupied by aquated chloride ions. The differences in circular dichroism (CD) spectra and significantly lower conductance values in water and methanol support partial retention of the polymeric nature in methanol. The visible spectra of 4 in methanol or water showed an ∼10 nm shift of the charge transfer bands from 3. However, the addition of Al3+ salt to 2 showed a significant colour shift. Further investigation confirmed that the colour shift is due to partial protonation of the complex with protons generated from salt hydrolysis. Most reports on visual aluminium detection consider aluminium's binding as the shift's source. The present results show that protonation due to hydrolysis of aluminium salt can skew the observation.

Abstract
In this work, a novel 3D lanthanide metal-organic framework (Ln-MOF) Nd-cdip (H4cdip = 5,5'-carbonyldiisophthalic acid) was successfully synthesized, which could be used as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for cyanosilylation and the synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives at room temperature based on the Lewis acid sites in the channels of the MOF. Moreover, Nd-cdip had an excellent turnover number (500) for catalyzing cyanosilylation in no solvent condition. Nd-cdip could be reused in both of the above-mentioned reactions at least five times without a significant decrease in yield. The possible mechanism of cyanosilylation catalyzed by Nd-cdip was studied by using the luminescence properties of Tb-cdip, which has the same structure and functions as Nd-cdip. Furthermore, both reactions catalyzed by Nd-cdip were fitted to zero-order dynamics.

Abstract
This article discusses the design principles and strategies and the structural outcome of various supramolecular architectures constructed by utilizing well-defined coordination complexes as the metalloligands. We have included selected examples of metalloligands, offering either pyridyl or arylcarboxylic acid groups as the appended functional groups, for illustrating the construction of their supramolecular architectures. Both geometrical position and the number of the appended functional groups emerging from a metalloligand were found to critically regulate the structural aspects and dimensionality of the resultant material. The article concludes by delineating the structure-directing lessions as well as the potential applications of the metalloligand-based supramolecular architectures for the generation of next-level materials.

Abstract
Molecular architectures offering large cavities can accommodate guest molecules, while their compositional engineering allows tunability of the band gap to support photocatalysis using visible light. In this work, two lanthanide (Ln)-based macrocycles, synthesized using a cobalt-based metalloligand and offering large rectangular cavities, exhibited selective adsorption of neutral dyes over both anionic and cationic dyes. Both Ln macrocycles illustrated complete photodegradation of cationic dyes using visible light without the use of any oxidant. Both Ln macrocycles exhibited complete photodegradation of not only cationic dyes but also a few phenothiazine-based antipsychotic drugs. Photocatalysis involved the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which was corroborated with the band gap of two Ln macrocycles. These results were supported by radical scavenger studies and the quantitative estimation of superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. Complete photodegradation of both dyes and drugs was confirmed by spectral studies, while the generation of CO2 and N2 gases was established by gas chromatography. Importantly, Ln macrocycles were able to distinguish between the neutral dyes that were quantitatively adsorbed and the cationic dyes/drugs that were completely photodegraded.

Abstract
A novel 3D lanthanide(iii) metal-organic framework (MOF) (namely Tb-MOF), was synthesized by self-assembly from Tb(iii) ion nitrate and the rigid organic ligand H2sbdc (H2sbdc = 5,5-dioxo-5H-dibenzo[b,d]thiophene-3,7-dicarboxylic acid), and could work as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the cyanosilylation of aromatic aldehydes at room temperature. The obtained Tb-MOF has been characterized and analysed in detail by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and so on. The pores of Tb-MOF provided a microenvironment that was beneficial for the substrates to be close to the Lewis acid catalytic sites. The IR spectrogram and the fluorescence titration proved that the substrates could be activated inside the channel of Tb-MOF. The heterogeneous Tb-MOF catalyst with fine catalytic efficiency exhibited a high TON (TON = 460), and could be recycled at least three times without significantly reducing its activity.

Abstract
We present synthesis and characterization of two half-sandwich Ru(II) complexes supported with amide-phosphine based ligands. These complexes presented a pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide based pincer cavity, decorated with hydrogen bonds, that participated in the binding of nitro-substrates closer to the Ru(II) centers, which is further supported with binding and docking studies. These ruthenium complexes functioned as the noteworthy catalysts for the borohydride mediated reduction of assorted nitro-substrates. Mechanistic studies not only confirmed the intermediacy of [Ru-H] in the reduction but also asserted the involvement of several organic intermediates during the course of the catalysis. A similar Ru(II) complex that lacked pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide based pincer cavity substantiated its unique role both in the substrate binding and the subsequent catalysis.

Abstract
This perspective presents the design, synthesis and crystal structures of a large number of architectures constructed using assorted metalloligands of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide based ligands. The metalloligands offered various appended functional groups, whereas design strategies included varying both their position and number. A combination of these parameters resulted in the development of assorted architectures including discrete trinuclear and tetranuclear complexes as well as 1D/2D/3D coordination polymers. The metalloligand strategy not only assisted in the construction of ordered crystalline materials with varied dimensionalities but also judiciously allowed the incorporation of Lewis acidic and redox-active secondary metals in the resultant architectures. As a result, such designer architectures illustrated their noteworthy role both as homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts in different organic transformation reactions.

Abstract
Due to their inherent ring strain and electrophilicity, epoxides are highly attractive building blocks for fundamental organic reactions. However, controlling the regioselectivity of disubstituted epoxide transformations is often particularly challenging. Most Lewis acid-mediated processes take advantage of intrinsic steric or electronic substrate bias to influence the site of nucleophilic attack. Therefore, the scope of many of these systems is frequently quite limited. Recent efforts to generate catalysts that can overcome substrate bias have expanded the synthetic utility of these well-known reactions. In this Perspective, we highlight various regioselective transformations of disubstituted epoxides, emphasizing those that have inspired the production of challenging, catalyst-controlled processes.

Abstract
Self-assembly of resorcin[4]arene-based coordination cages involving more than two resorcin[4]arenes poses significant challenges for the requirements of suitable functionalized resorcin[4]arene ligands and metals. Here, we report an unusual example of a metal-coordinated, resorcin[4]arene-based molecular trimer (1-NO3), composed of three resorcin[4]arenes and three Cd(II) cations. In particular, 1-NO3 features efficient and selective removal of environmentally toxic dichromate (Cr2O72-) anions. Moreover, the Knoevenagel condensation reaction was also explored by using 1-NO3 as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst.

Abstract
The reactions of 3,3'-{(pyridine-2,6-dicarbonyl)bis(azanediyl)}dibenzoic acid (H2L) with zinc(II), cadmium(II), and samarium(III) nitrates were studied, and the obtained compounds, [Zn(1κO:2κO'-L)(H2O)2] n (1), [Cd(1κO 2:2κO 2-L)(H2O)2]2 ⋅6n H2O⋅ n C4H8O2 ⋅1.5n DMF (2), and [Sm(1κO:2κO'O'':3κO'''-L)(NO3)(H2O)(dmf)] n ⋅ n DMF (3), were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Compounds 1 and 3 have 1D zigzag- and double-chain-type structures, respectively, whereas 2 features a dinuclear metallomacrocyclic complex. The ligand (L2-) orients in different conformations, that is, syn-syn for 1 and anti-anti for 2 and 3. Compound 1 is the first example in which the syn-syn conformation for this ligand has been observed. These compounds act as heterogeneous catalysts for the nitroaldol (Henry; in water medium) and Knoevenagel condensation reactions of different aldehydes, and the most effective is zinc coordination polymer 1. Recyclability, heterogeneity, and size-selectivity tests were performed, which showed that the catalyst was highly active over at least four recycling runs.

Abstract
Metallation of a pentadentate diNHC proligand bearing a dipropyl-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide with silver and gold affords mono- and dinuclear, double-stranded bis(NHC) complexes as useful building blocks for metallo-supramolecules. The digold(I) complex acts as a metallo-bis(pincer) ligand to furnish the first example of an organometallic NHC-helicate upon coordination to cobalt.
