Abstract
Uranium diazomethanediide complexes can be prepared and their synthesis, structure and reactivity were explored. Reaction of the uranium imido compound [η5 -1,2,4-(Me3 Si)3 C5 H2 ]2 U=N(p-tolyl)(dmap) (1) or [η5 -1,3-(Me3 C)2 C5 H3 ]2 U=N(p-tolyl)(dmap) (4) with Me3 SiCHN2 cleanly yields the first isocyanoimido metal complexes [η5 -1,2,4-(Me3 Si)3 C5 H2 ]2 U(=NNC)(μ-CNN=)U(dmap)[η5 -1,2,4-(Me3 Si)3 C5 H2 ]2 (2) and {[η5 -1,3-(Me3 C)2 C5 H3 ]2 U[μ-(=NNC)]}6 (5), respectively. Both compounds exhibit remarkable thermal stability and were fully characterized. According to density functional theory (DFT) studies the bonding between the Cp2 U2+ and [NNC]2- moieties is strongly polarized with a significant 5 f orbital contribution, which is also reflected in the reactivity of these complexes. For example, complex 5 acts as a nucleophile toward alkylsilyl halides and engages in a [2+2] cycloaddition with CS2 , but no reaction occurs in the presence of internal alkynes.

Abstract
A combined photoluminescence (PL) and theoretical study has been performed on Ca10(PO4)6F2:U6+ and Ca10(PO4)6F2:U6+,Eu3+ compounds in order to explore Ca10(PO4)6F2 as potential host for radioactive waste immobilization by understanding the distribution U6+, Eu3+ and Am3+ ions among the lattice sites and the related radiation stability. DFT based calculations on various structures with different distribution of U6+, Eu3+ and Am3+ ions showed that Eu3+ and Am3+ ions prefer to occupy the Ca2 sites while the highly charged U6+ ions prefer Ca1 site. This is also supported by the PL lifetime study, which provided two lifetime components with different contribution for both U6+ and Eu3+ ions present at two different lattice sites. The PL study of U6+ doped compounds confirmed the existence of U in the UO22+ form, which makes it as a pure green emitter. Upon co-doping Eu3+ ion, the compounds were transformed to red emitter. Further, there is an energy transfer process from U6+to Eu3+, which shifted the CIE color coordinates towards pure red region while increasing doping level of U6+. This proves U6+ as a good sensitizer for Eu3+ ion. PL study on gamma irradiated U6+ doped Ca10(PO4)6F2 compound also showed excellent radiation stability at Ca2 site.

Abstract
A comprehensive ab initio study of periodic actinide-ligand bonding trends for trivalent actinides is performed. Relativistic density functional theory (DFT) and complete active-space (CAS) self-consistent field wavefunction calculations are used to dissect the chemical bonding in the [AnCl6]3-, [An(CN)6]3-, [An(NCS)6]3-, [An(S2PMe2)3], [An(DPA)3]3-, and [An(HOPO)]- series of actinide (An = U-Es) complexes. Except for some differences for the early actinide complexes with DPA, bond orders and excess 5f-shell populations from donation bonding show qualitatively similar trends in 5f n active-space CAS vs DFT calculations. The influence of spin-orbit coupling on donation bonding is small for the tested systems. Along the actinide series, chemically soft vs chemically harder ligands exhibit clear differences in bonding trends. There are pronounced changes in the 5f populations when moving from Pu to Am or Cm, which correlate with previously noted "breaks" in chemical trends. Bonding involving 5f becomes very weak beyond Cm/Bk. We propose that Cm(III) is a borderline case among the trivalent actinides that can be meaningfully considered to be involved in ground-state 5f covalent bonding.

Abstract
We report the synthesis and characterization of a family of UO22+/Co2+ isothiocyanate materials containing [UO2(NCS)5]3- and/or [Co(NCS)4]2- building units charged balanced by tetramethylammonium cations and assembled via SS or SOyl non-covalent interactions (NCIs), namely (C4H12N)3[UO2(NCS)5], (C4H12N)2[Co(NCS)4], and (C4H12N)5[Co(NCS)4][UO2(NCS)5]. The homometallic uranyl phase preferentially assembles via SS interactions, whereas in the heterometallic phase SOyl interactions are predominant. The variation in assembly mode is explored using electrostatic surfaces potentials, revealing that the pendant -NCS ligands of the [Co(NCS)4]2- anion is capable of outcompeting those of the [UO2(NCS)5]3- anion. Notably, the heterometallic phase displays atypical blue shifting of the uranyl symmetric stretch in the Raman spectra, which is in contrast to many other compounds featuring non-covalent interactions at uranyl oxygen atoms. A combined experimental and computational (density functional theory and natural bond orbital analyses) approach revealed that coupling of the uranyl symmetric stretch with isothiocyanate modes of equatorial -NCS ligands was responsible for the atypical blue shift in the heterometallic phase.

Abstract
The synthesis and single crystal structures of Am(iii) and Cm(iii) thiocyanate complexes are reported along with an isostructural series of lanthanide thiocyanate complexes. Because the complexes are isostructural, a comparative study of the metal-thiocyanate bonds was conducted using Raman spectroscopy indicating very similar and electrostatic metal-ligand interactions.

Abstract
A series of uranyl thiocyanate and selenocyanate of the type [R4N]3[UO2(NCS)5] (R4 = nBu4, Me3Bz, Et3Bz), [Ph4P][UO2(NCS)3(NO3)] and [R4N]3[UO2(NCSe)5] (R4 = Me4, nPr4, Et3Bz) have been prepared and structurally characterized. The resulting noncovalent interactions have been examined and compared to other examples in the literature. The nature of these interactions is determined by the cation so that when the alkyl groups are small, chalcogenide···chalcogenide interactions are present, but this "switches off" when R = nPr and charge assisted U═O···H-C and S(e)···H-C hydrogen bonding remain the dominant interaction. Increasing the size of the chain to nBu results in only S···H-C interactions. The spectroscopic implications of these chalcogenide interactions have been explored in the vibrational and photophysical properties of the series [R4N]3[UO2(NCS)5] (R4 = Me4, Et4, nPr4, nBu4, Me3Bz, Et3Bz), [R4N]3[UO2(NCSe)5] (R4 = Me4, nPr4, Et3Bz) and [Et4N]4[UO2(NCSe)5][NCSe]. The data suggest that U═O···H-C interactions are weak and do not perturb the uranyl moiety. While the chalcogenide interactions do not influence the photophysical properties, a coupling of the U═O and δ(NCS) or δ(NCSe) vibrational modes is observed in the 77 K solid state emission spectra. A theoretical examination of representative examples of Se···Se, C-H···Se, and C-H···O═U by molecular electrostatic potentials and NBO and AIM methodologies gives a deeper understanding of these weak interactions. C-H···Se are individually weak but C-H···O═U interactions are even weaker, supporting the idea that the -yl oxo's are weak Lewis bases. An Atoms in Molecules study suggests that the chalcogenide interaction is similar to lone pair···π or fluorine···fluorine interactions. An oxidation of the NCS ligands to form [(UO2)(SO4)2(H2O)4]·3H2O was also noted.

Abstract
The reactivity of terminal uranium(V/VI) nitrides with CE2 (E=O, S) is presented. Well-defined C=E cleavage followed by zero-, one-, and two-electron redox events is observed. The uranium(V) nitride [U(TrenTIPS )(N)][K(B15C5)2 ] (1, TrenTIPS =N(CH2 CH2 NSiiPr3 )3 ; B15C5=benzo-15-crown-5) reacts with CO2 to give [U(TrenTIPS )(O)(NCO)][K(B15C5)2 ] (3), whereas the uranium(VI) nitride [U(TrenTIPS )(N)] (2) reacts with CO2 to give isolable [U(TrenTIPS )(O)(NCO)] (4); complex 4 rapidly decomposes to known [U(TrenTIPS )(O)] (5) with concomitant formation of N2 and CO proposed, with the latter trapped as a vanadocene adduct. In contrast, 1 reacts with CS2 to give [U(TrenTIPS )(κ2 -CS3 )][K(B15C5)2 ] (6), 2, and [K(B15C5)2 ][NCS] (7), whereas 2 reacts with CS2 to give [U(TrenTIPS )(NCS)] (8) and "S", with the latter trapped as Ph3 PS. Calculated reaction profiles reveal outer-sphere reactivity for uranium(V) but inner-sphere mechanisms for uranium(VI); despite the wide divergence of products the initial activation of CE2 follows mechanistically related pathways, providing insight into the factors of uranium oxidation state, chalcogen, and NCE groups that govern the subsequent divergent redox reactions that include common one-electron reactions and a less-common two-electron redox event. Caution, we suggest, is warranted when utilising CS2 as a reactivity surrogate for CO2 .

Abstract
The title ZnII complex, [Zn(NCS)2(C20H21N3)], has been characterized by synchrotron single-crystal diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy. The central ZnII ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry, with three N atoms of the chiral (S) 1-phenyl-N,N-bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]ethanamine (S-ppme) ligand and one N atom of a thio-cyanate anion in the equatorial plane, and one N atom of another thio-cyanate anion at the apical position. The average Zn-N S-ppme and Zn-NNCS bond lengths are 2.183 (2) and 1.986 (2) Å, respectively. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds and a face-to-face π-π inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.482 (1) Å] link the mol-ecules and give rise to a supra-molecular sheet structure parallel to the ac plane.

Abstract
Recently, MIL-125(Ti) and NH2 -MIL-125(Ti), two titanium-based metal-organic frameworks, have attracted significant research attention in the field of photocatalysis for solar fuel generation. This work reveals that the differences between these structures are not only based on their light absorption range but also on the decay profile and topography of their excited states. In contrast to MIL-125(Ti), NH2 -MIL-125(Ti) shows markedly longer lifetimes of the charge-separated state, which improves photoconversion by the suppression of competing decay mechanisms. We used spectroelectrochemistry and ultrafast spectroscopy to demonstrate that upon photoexcitation in NH2 -MIL-125(Ti) the electron is located in the Ti-oxo clusters and the hole resides on the aminoterephthalate unit, specifically on the amino group. The results highlight the role of the amino group in NH2 -MIL-125(Ti), the electron donation of which extends the lifetime of the photoexcited state substantially.
