Abstract
Nowadays, it is still a great challenge for lanthanide complexes to be applied in solid state lighting, especially for high-power LEDs because they will suffer severe thermal-induced luminescence quenching and transmittance loss when LEDs are operated at high current. In this paper, we have not only obtained high efficient and thermally chemical stable red emitting hybrid material by introducing europium complex into nanozeolite (NZ) functionalized with the imidazolium-based stopper but also abated its thermal-induced transmittance loss and luminescence quenching behavior via coating it onto a heat-resistant luminescent glass (LG) with high thermal conductivity (1.07 W/mK). The results show that the intensity at 400 K for Eu(PPO)n-C4Si@NZ@LG remains 21.48% of the initial intensity at 300 K, which is virtually 153 and 13 times the intensity of Eu(PPO)3·2H2O and Eu(PPO)n-C4Si@NZ, respectively. Moreover, an organic-resin-free warm white LEDs device with a low CCT of 3994K, a high Ra of 90.2 and R9 of 57.9 was successfully fabricated simply by combining NUV-Chip-On-Board with a warm white emitting glass-film composite (i.e., yellowish-green emitting luminescent glass coated with red emitting hybrid film). Our method and results provide a feasible and promising way for lanthanide complexes to be used for general illumination in the future.

Abstract
A series of new core-shell structure materials based on lanthanide complexes [H2NMe2]3[Ln(dpa)3] (Ln = Eu, Tb, Sm, Dy, Nd, and Yb; [H2NMe2](+) = dimethylamino cation; dpa = 2-dipicolinate) and silica microspheres has been prepared under solvothermal conditions. Electron microscopy reveals that the nanosized materials SiO2@Ln-dpa are spherical with a narrow size distribution and a [H2NMe2]3[Ln(L)3] coating was generated on the surface of silica microspheres successfully. The core-shell structure materials exhibit excellent optical performance. The white-light-emitting material SiO2@(Dy:Eu)-dpa has a potential application in the development of a white-light device, as a result of the fact that its CIE chromaticity coordinate is very close to that of pure white. Then, we selected SiO2@Eu-dpa as a representative sample for sensing experiments. Eventually, we found that the core-shell structure sensors are highly selective and sensitive for acetone and Cu(2+) cations. The detection of Cu(2+) in the human body is an important issue. Interestingly, the core-shell structure materials display better selectivity and higher sensitivity than the pure lanthanide complexes in sensing Cu(2+) and the value of the quenching effect coefficient has increased by more than 20%.

A series of photofunctional polymer hybrid thin films based on rare earth ion-functionalized MOFs have been synthesized and can display multi-colors (red, blue, blue-green and white). Interestingly, Tb0.999Eu0.001-2 thin film can be used as ratiometric luminescent thermometer in a wide temperature range.

Abstract
Luminescent materials based on the functionalization of zeolite with lanthanide constitute an intense research topic since they combine the attractive properties of zeolite and unique optical properties of Ln3+ ions. This review highlights the utilization of zeolite as luminescent materials showing tunable luminescence performance, well-organized structures and useful host–guest interactions.

Abstract
A series of new visible and near-infrared (NIR) luminescent lanthanide-hydroxybenz[de]anthracen derivatives (Ln(HBAN)(3)(H(2)O)(2)(NO(3))(3), Ln(HBAN)(3)phen(NO(3))(3)) were synthesized (HBAN-6-hydroxybenz[de]anthracen-7-one, Ln=Eu, Yb, Nd). Further, chemically bonded lanthanide hybrids of functionalized mesoporous silica (SBA-15) are prepared using HBAN-functionalized alkoxysilane (HBAN-Si) as linker, which is named as Ln(HBAN-SBA-15)(3)(NO(3))(3), Ln(HBAN-SBA-15)(3)phen(NO(3))(3) (Ln=Eu, Yb, Nd), respectively. The physical characterization and especially the photoluminescence properties for these hybrids are performed. SAXRD and BET of them revealed that all of these hybrid materials have uniformity in the mesostructure. Worth noting here is that the excitation spectra of these hybrid materials are extended to visible light region (439-535 nm). Upon ligand-mediated excitation with the ultraviolet and visible light, the visible luminescence for europium hybrids and NIR luminescence for Yb(3+) and Nd(3+) hybrids are obtained.

Abstract
A novel series of multi-component hybrids are assembled based on rare earth coordinated to rare earth ion (Eu(3+), Tb(3+), Sm(3+), Dy(3+)) complex systems and ZnO nanocomposites through three different ester units (ethyl methacrylate (EMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and 2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutyl methacrylate (HFMA)) as functional polymer linkages. Methacrylic-group-modified ZnO nanoparticles (designated ZnO-MAA) are synthesized based on the reaction between zinc methacrylate and LiOH with the molar ratio 1 : 3.5 via sol-gel process. The final hybrid materials are prepared by introducing rare earth complexes into ZnO-MAA matrix via addition polymerization reaction in the presence of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as the initiator. The detailed characterization and luminescence of these hybrid materials are discussed. It is found that ZnO-MAA-HEMA/EMA/HFBMA-RE-phen hybrid systems have effective intramolecular energy transfer process and exhibit longer lifetime and higher quantum efficiency.

Abstract
A novel green emissive terbium inorganic-polymeric hybrid particle was designed and this material could detect cations in water. Polyvinyl alcohol as an amphiphilic surfactant rendered the powders dispersible in water with regular round shape (10-20 μm). Interestingly, we noticed that not only Cu(2+) (detection limit 10(-4)M) but also Fe(3+) (detection limit 10(-4) M) can give rise to emission quenching to this target material in comparison with K(+), Na(+), Fe(2+), Mn(2+), Pd(2+), Cd(2+) and Co(2+) (10(-3) mol L(-1)). We regarded that the coordination interactions between ligand and metal ions resulted in these quenching processes. Additionally, it was found that the sensing material can be repeatedly used at least 5 cycles. More importantly, this novel material demonstrated higher thermal-stability in aqueous media than pure silica hybrid material.
