Abstract
The synthesis, thermolysis, and surface organometallic chemistry of thermolytic molecular precursors based on a new germanosilicate ligand platform, -OGe[OSi(OtBu)3]3, is described. Use of this ligand is demonstrated with preparation of complexes containing the first-row transition metals Cr, Mn, and Fe. The thermolysis and grafting behavior of the synthesized complexes, Fe{OGe[OSi(OtBu)3]3}2 (FeGe), Mn{OGe[OSi(OtBu)3]3}2(THF)2 (MnGe) and Cr{OGe[OSi(OtBu)3]3}2(THF)2 (CrGe), was evaluated using a combination of thermogravimetric analysis; nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopies; and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). Grafting of the precursors onto SBA-15 mesoporous silica and subsequent calcination in air led to substantial changes in transition metal coordination environments and oxidation states, the implications of which are discussed in the context of low-coordinate and low oxidation state thermolytic molecular precursors.

Abstract
Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes of two tri-pyridine-based ligands with two hydroxy and two amide exchangeable protons (TDTA) and with six amide exchangeable protons (TMTP) were investigated for application as paraCEST-based magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents. The two hydroxy groups present in the TDTA ligand were found to be passive while the amide group was active towards the CEST process. In the case of the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes of the TMTP ligand, all three coordinated amide groups participated in the exchange process, and excellent CEST signals were observed. The X-ray structure of the four complexes revealed the seven-coordinate geometry of Co(II) complexes and the six-coordinate geometry of Ni(II) complexes. The presence of amide protons and hydroxy protons in the complexes was detected by the NMR method. The stability of the complexes in solution at high temperatures, in different pH ranges and acidic conditions, in the presence of competing cations, and biologically relevant anions was investigated. Potentiometric titrations were carried out to determine the ligand's protonation constants and the complexes' thermodynamic stability constant at 25.0 °C and I = 0.15 mol L-1 NaClO4. ParaCEST studies of [Co(TMTP)]2+ and [Ni(TMTP)]2+ at variable pH and variable pulse power are highlighted.

Abstract
In this study, we determine the acidity constants of methylthymol blue (MTB) and association constants of its complexes with the ZnII, CuII, and FeII metal ions (MIs), through theoretical and experimental means. The complexes were characterized using UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy combined with soft/hard chemometrics methods and quantum chemical calculations. Quantum chemical calculations revealed that electronic transitions in the UV-Visible spectra of MTB have mixed n → π* and π → π* characters. The results of molar ratio and multivariate curve resolution alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) revealed the formation of successive 1:2 and 1:1 complexes (MI:MTB) for the ZnII and CuII systems. However, the formation of successive 1:1 and 2:1 complexes are suggested for FeII by the molar ratio and MCR-ALS. The majority of transitions observed in the UV-Visible spectra of the Zn(MTB) and Cu(MTB) complexes have ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (LLCT) characters. However, the transitions in the UV-Visible spectrum of the Fe(MTB) complex have LLCT and metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) characters. For the Fe2(MTB) complex, the lowest energy transition of has an LLCT character. However, its higher energy transitions are a mixture of LLCT, MLCT, and metal-to-metal charge transfer (MMCT) characters. The correlation between experimental and computed wavelengths revealed that the 1:1 complexes of ZnII and CuII prefer square pyramidal geometries. However, the FeII complexes always show octahedral geometry.

Abstract
This work presents the synthesis and characterization of a 3d-4f bimetallic complex based on the redox-active macrocyclic biquinazoline ligand, Mabiq. The mixed Yb-Ni complex, [(Cp*)2Yb(Mabiq)Ni]BArF (3), was synthesized upon reaction of [NiII(Mabiq)]BArF (2) with (Cp*)2YbII(OEt2). The molecular structures of 3 and its sister complex, [(Cp*)2Yb(Mabiq)Ni][(Cp*)2Yb(OTf)2] (1), confirmed the presence of a Yb(III) center and a reduced Ni-Mabiq unit. Spectroscopy (absorption and NMR), cyclic voltammetry, and magnetic susceptibility studies were employed to analyze the electronic structure of 3, which is best described by the [(Cp*)2YbIII(Mabiq•)NiII]+ formulation. Notably, the ligand-centered radical is delocalized over both the diketiminate and bipyrimidine units of the Mabiq ligand. The magnetic susceptibility and variable temperature NMR studies for 3 denote coupling between the Ni-Mabiq site and the peripheral Yb center-previously unobserved in 3d-3d Mabiq complexes. The complex nature of the exchange interactions is highlighted by the multiconfigurational ground state for 3, comprising nearly degenerate singlet and triplet states.

Abstract
In this work a new curvilinear coordinate system is presented for the comprehensive description of polytopal rearrangements of N-coordinate compounds (N = 4-7) and systems containing an N-coordinate subunit. It is based on normal vibrational modes and a natural extension of the Cremer-Pople puckering coordinates ( J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1975, 97, 1354) together with the Zou-Izotov-Cremer deformation coordinates ( J. Phys. Chem. A 2011, 115, 8731) for ring structures to N-coordinate systems. We demonstrate that the new curvilinear coordinates are ideal reaction coordinates describing fluxional rearrangement pathways by revisiting the Berry pseudorotation and the lever mechanism in sulfur tetrafluoride, the Berry pseudorotation and two Muetterties' mechanisms in pentavalent compounds, the chimeric pseudorotation in iodine pentafluoride, Bailar and Ray-Dutt twists in hexacoordinate tris-chelates as well as the Bartell mechanism in iodine heptafluoride. The results of our study reveal that this dedicated curvilinear coordinate system can be applied to most coordination compounds opening new ways for the systematic modeling of fluxional processes.

Abstract
The interaction of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with seven-coordination iron (II) complex containing sulfur-based macrocyclic ligand was investigated by means of UV/vis absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence quenching technique. The accurate fluorescence spectra are obtained by using Inner filter effect (IFE) correction. The apparent association constant, kapp, the number of binding sites, n, and the apparent binding constant KSV were found to be 0.95 × 103 M-1, 0.96, and 6.13 × 104 M-1, respectively. It found that BSA molecules are adsorbed on the surface of iron (II) complex by electrostatic interaction. The quenching mechanism is discussed involving energy transfer from BSA to iron (II) complex.

Abstract
A quinoline-based heptadentate ligand, N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-quinolylmethyl)-2,6-bis(aminomethyl)pyridine (TQLN), exhibits a Zn2+-specific fluorescence increase at 428 nm, which is assigned to excimer emission (IZn/I0 = 38, ICd/IZn = 24%, ϕZn = 0.069). In contrast, the isoquinoline counterpart 1-isoTQLN exhibits a Cd2+-specific fluorescence increase at 365 nm attributable to monomer emission (ICd/I0 = 83, IZn/ICd = 19%, ϕCd = 0.015).
