Abstract
Intense interests in mid-infrared (MIR) nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals have erupted in recent years due to the development of optoelectronic applications ranging from remote monitoring to molecular spectroscopy. Here, two polar crystals Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) (M = Mo, W) were grown from TeO2-MO3 flux by high-temperature solution methods. Ca3(TeO3)2(MoO4) and Ca3(TeO3)2(WO4) are isostructural, which feature novel structures consisting of asymmetric MO4 tetrahedra and TeO3 trigonal pyramids. Optical characterizations show that both crystals display ultrawide transparency ranges (279 nm to 5.78 μm and 290 nm to 5.62 μm), especially high optical transmittance over 80% in the important atmospheric transparent window of 3-5 μm, and superhigh laser damage thresholds (1.63 GW/cm2 and 1.50 GW/cm2), 54.3 and 50 times larger than that of state-of-the-art MIR NLO AgGaS2, respectively. Notably, they exhibit the widest band gaps and the loftiest laser-induced threshold damages among the reported tellurates so far. Moreover, Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) exhibit type I phase matching at two working wavelengths owing to their large birefringence and strong second-harmonic generation responses from the distorted anions, as further elucidated by the first-principles calculations. The above characteristics indicate that Ca3(TeO3)2(MO4) crystals are high-performance MIR NLO materials, especially applying in high-power MIR laser operations.

Abstract
We provide the material synthesis method, crystal structure information, and characterization of a novel mixed-valent metal oxide KIn0.33IIITe0.67VITe2IVO7, closely related to zirconolite (CaZrTi2O7), a radioactive waste immobilized material, having a 3D framework. The reported metal oxide containing an alkali-metal cation (K+), main-group cation (In3+), tellurate, and tellurite has been synthesized as both single crystals and a pure polycrystalline phase through a hydrothermal synthesis method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction indicates that KIn0.33Te2.67O7 crystallizing in the orthorhombic space group Cmcm (No. 63) reveals a 3D framework structure with a 1D channel consisting of Te/InO6 octahedra and TeO4 polyhedra. An interesting transition reaction from KIn0.33Te2.67O7 to KIn(TeO3)2 under hydrothermal conditions at 230 °C is discussed.

Abstract
Three new transition metal copper(II) selenites or tellurites, namely, CdCu(SeO3)2 (1), HgCu(SeO3)2 ()2, and Hg2Cu3(Te3O8)2 (3), have been obtained by conventional hydrothermal reactions of CdO (or Hg2Cl2), CuO and SeO2 (or TeO2). Compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and crystallize in P2(1)/c. Their structures feature a 3D anionic framework of Cu(SeO3)2(2-) with 1D channels of eight-membered rings (MRs) along the c-axis and a-axis, respectively, which are filled by Cd(2+) or Hg(2+) cations. Compound 3 crystallizes in a tetragonal system of space group P42(1)2. Its structure is characterized by a [Cu3(Te3O8)2](2-) honeycomb layer composed of [Te3O8](4-) anions interconnected by Cu(2+) ions with 1D channels of 8-MRs along the c-axis. TOPOS analysis indicates that the copper(ii) tellurite layer exhibits a new topological structure with a Schläfli symbol of {4(6)·8(9)}(2){4(6)}(3). The above anionic copper(II) tellurite layers are further linked by dumbbell Hg2(2+) cations to form a novel 3D framework. Magnetic measurements based on magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity indicate that compounds 1 and 2 show a spin-singlet ground state with a spin gap based on the [Cu2O8](12-) dimeric model, whereas compound e3 xhibits a 2D spin-system with an antiferromagnetic ordering around 25 K correlated with its honeycomb [Cu3(Te3O8)2](2-) layer. Furthermore, crystalline structures, thermal stabilities, IR spectra and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra have also been studied.

Abstract
New tellurite-sulfate compounds M2(TeO3)(SO4)·H2O (M = Co, Mn) are synthesized by a conventional hydrothermal method. Two compounds are found to exhibit a similar structure, which both crystallize in the orthorhombic system of space group Pbcm. Te(4+) ions are coordinated by three O atoms, forming a quite distorted TeO3 trigonal pyramid with lone-pair electrons, while magnetic Co(2+) or Mn(2+) ions construct a wavelike layer with a distorted honeycomb spin-lattice. Magnetic measurements confirm that two isostructural compounds display different magnetic behaviors, in which Co2(TeO3)(SO4)·H2O shows a canted antiferromagnetic ordering at ∼15 K, while Mn2(TeO3)(SO4)·H2O shows a collinear antiferromagnetic ordering at ∼28 K. The nature of different magnetic behaviors between two isostructural compounds is also discussed.

Abstract
A new polar material containing two types of stereoactive lone-pairs has been synthesized. The unique parallel alignment of the stereoactive lone-pairs on Pb(2+) cations and the synergistic effect of two types of stereoactive lone-pairs on I(5+) and Pb(2+) cations make it exhibit a very large second-harmonic generation response of about 8 × KDP (KH(2)PO(4)).

Abstract
Six new phases in the alkali metal-Nb(V)/Ta(V)-Se(IV)/Te(IV)-O systems have been prepared by solid-state reactions at high-temperatures. Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. AM(3)O(6)(QO(3))(2) (A = K, Rb, M = Nb, Ta, Q = Te; A = K, M = Nb, Q = Se) are isomorphous and their structures feature a 3D network with 1D 4- and 6-MRs tunnels along the a-axis which is composed of 2D layers of corner-sharing MO(6) octahedra bridged by QO(3) groups. The alkali metal ions are located at the above 1D tunnels of 6-MRs. The structure of Cs(3)Nb(9)O(18)(TeO(3))(2)(TeO(4))(2) features a thick Nb-Te-O layer built of corner-sharing NbO(6) octahedra, TeO(3) and TeO(4) groups. The 2D layer of the NbO(6) octahedra with 1D tunnels of 6-MRs along the c-axis are formed by 1D chains of NbO(6) chains along the c-axis and linear Nb(4)O(21) tetramers by corner-sharing. The TeO(3) and TeO(4) groups are grafted on both sides of the niobium-oxide layer via Nb-O-Te or/and Te-O-Te bridges. The caesium(i) ions are located at the above 1D tunnels of 6-MRs. TGA, UV-vis and infrared spectral measurements as well as electronic structure calculations have also been performed.
