Abstract
Reaction of a sterically demanding iminophosphorano-phosphine, Ph2PCH2Ph2PNAr* (here onwards referred to as PCPNAr*; Ar* = 2,6-dibenzhydryl-4-methylphenyl), (1) with [Ru(η6-p-cymene)Cl2]2 yielded three different types of complex, [RuCl2{(η6-p-cymene)(PCPNAr*)-κ1-P}] (2), [RuCl{(P(O)CPNAr*)(κ2-N,C)(C-η6-arene)}] (3) and [RuCl{(POCPNAr*)(κ2-N,C-o)(C-η6-arene)}] (4), depending on the reaction conditions via CH activation, tethered η6-arene coordination, ortho-metallation or PN bond cleavage/rearrangement reactions. Interestingly, a similar reaction in CH3CN in the presence of AgBF4 resulted in the insertion of CH3CN into the PN bond to form a novel metallacycle [Ru(NCMe)3{(PC2PN(CH3)CNAr*)-κ3-N,N,P}][BF4]2 (5) containing 4- and 5-membered rings via an aza-Wittig type reaction. Complex 4 showed very good catalytic activity in the transfer hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds.

Abstract
The synthesis of iron complexes supported by a mixed phosphine-lutidine-iminophosphorane (PPyNP) ligand was carried out. While bidentate κ2-N,N coordination was observed for FeCl2, pincer coordination modes were adopted at cationic iron centers, either through dechlorination of [LFe(PPyNP)Cl2] (1) or direct coordination of PPyNP to Fe(OTf)2. Reaction with tert-butylisocyanide gave access to the diamagnetic octahedral complex [Fe(PPyNP)(CNtBu)3]X2 (X = OTf (4), Cl (4')). Both 1 and 4 were shown to undergo deprotonation of the phosphinomethyl group, but the resulting complexes were not active for the dehydrogenative coupling of hexan-1-ol. The hydrosilylation of acetophenones was catalyzed at room temperature with 1 mol% of a catalyst generated in situ from cationic PPyNP-supported iron triflate complexes and KHBEt3.

Abstract
Treatment of bis(iminophosphorane)phosphane ligands 2a-2e with Li2PdCl4 gave a set of novel diphosphane-derived complexes bearing two metallacycle rings, each one enclosing a P=N double bond: the unprecedented bis(iminophosphorane)phosphane-[C,N,S] palladacycles. In the case of the ligand derived from bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, 2a, both the single and the double palladacycle complexes were obtained. Reaction of 3a with bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane did not yield the expected product with the diphosphane bonded to both palladium atoms, but rather the novel coordination compound 5. The crystal structures of 3c and 5 are described.

Abstract
The bis-carbonyl Fe(II) complex trans-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2Cl]+ reacts with Zn as reducing agent under a dihydrogen atmosphere to give the Fe(II) hydride complex cis-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2H]+ in 97% isolated yield. A crucial step in this reaction seems to be the reduction of the acidic NH protons of the PNP-iPr ligand to afford H2 and the coordinatively unsaturated intermediate [Fe(PNPH-iPr)(CO)2]+ bearing a dearomatized pyridine moiety. This species is able to bind and heterolytically cleave H2 to give cis-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2H]+. The mechanism of this reaction has been studied by DFT calculations. The proposed mechanism was supported by deuterium labeling experiments using D2 and the N-deuterated isotopologue of trans-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2Cl]+. While in the first case deuterium was partially incorporated into both N and Fe sites, in the latter case no reaction took place. In addition, the N-methylated complex trans-[Fe(PNPMe-iPr)(CO)2Cl]+ was prepared, showing no reactions with Zn and H2 under the same reaction conditions. An alternative synthesis of cis-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2H]+ was developed utilizing the Fe(0) complex [Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2]. This compound is obtained in high yield by treatment of either trans-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2Cl]+ or [Fe(PNP-iPr)Cl2] with an excess of NaHg or a stoichiometric amount of KC8 in the presence of carbon monoxide. Protonation of [Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2] with HBF4 gave the hydride complex cis-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2H]+. X-ray structures of both cis-[Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2H]+ and [Fe(PNP-iPr)(CO)2] are presented.

Abstract
The addition of primary amines to the C=C bond of diphenylalkenyl iminophosphoranes yielded a new subtype of N,N-bidentate ligands bearing N=P(V)-C-C-NH backbones. These donor ligands reacted with PdCl(2)(COD) to give the corresponding σN,σN-palladium complexes containing secondary amino groups, bearing an intrinsically chiral nitrogen atom, and iminophosphorane units. These new complexes have been fully characterized by the use of spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography. The comparison of the data extracted from their solution NMR spectra with their solid state structures demonstrated the conformational stability of their six-membered chelate ring and also the configurational stability of the chiral nitrogen atom, thus ruling out an arm-off racemization process. The addition of the chiral, racemic α-methylbenzylamine to the prochiral P-alkenyl iminophosphoranes yielded mixtures of the two expected diasteroisomeric ligands in low diastereoisomeric ratios. One of these mixtures was resolved into their components, each one in turn giving rise to a pair of diasteromeric palladium complexes epimeric at the amino nitrogen atom. One selected example of the new complexes efficiently catalyzes the copper- and amine-free Sonogashira reaction of aryl halides with acetylenes.
