Abstract
We have designed and synthesized a novel pyrene-naphthalene sulphonyl conjugate, 1-((1Z)-(4-((Z)-4-(pyrene-1-yl)methyleneamino)phenylsulfonyl)phenylimino)methyl)naphthalene-2-ol (PSN) through a facile two-step reactions. It was characterized by various spectral techniques. Fluorescence spectral studies showed that compound PSN featured fluorescence enhancement upon increasing the water content in THF. This can be attributed to the phenomena of aggregated induced emission (AIE), which is confirmed by SEM and AFM studies, due to the restriction of CHN isomerization of PSN. The anion sensing of PSN was examined with various anions. Among these anions, H2PO4- and F- ions were selectively sensing with a low detection limit of 3.52 × 10-7 M and 7.23 × 10-7 M, respectively, and an obvious color change from yellow to orange was observed by the naked eye. The mechanism of sensing involved the formation of hydrogen bonding interaction between O-H group of PSN and H2PO4-/ F- ions. The binding of PSN with LYZ was also examined by docking studies, which shows that H-bonding and hydrophobic interactions play crucial roles for the interaction of LYZ toward PSN.

Abstract
The theoretical charge density study for the gas phase of anti-leprosy drug Dapsone has been carried out in the light of the theory of atoms in molecules using density functional theory employing B3LYP(6-311G++(d, p) hybrid functional completed with dispersion corrections. The Hirshfeld surface analysis as well as fingerprint plots has been utilized to visualize and quantify the intermolecular contacts present in the molecule. The topological properties such as electron density and its Laplacian, delocalization index have been elucidated to throw light into the chemical bonding and atomic and molecular details. The electron localization function has been used to visualize and deduce information on the lone pair and the subshells of the Cl atom. The electrostatic potential visualizes the positive and negative electrostatic potential regions which are susceptible to nucleophilic and electrophilic attack. On the whole, this study provides an exact mechanism, interaction, and topological and electrostatic properties of the drug through theoretical insights which all will be a platform for our further investigation of the interaction between dapsone and dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS).

Abstract
Dapsone is a sulfone drug mainly used as anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of various diseases including leprosy. Recently, its interaction with protein (bovine serum albumin) is evidenced. But, the binding propensity of this anti-mycobacterial drug towards DNA is still unknown. Also, the mode of dapsone-DNA interaction (if any) is still an unknown quantity. In this study, we have taken a thorough attempt to understand these two unknown aspects using various biophysical and in silico molecular docking techniques. Both UV-visible and fluorescence titrimetric studies indicated that dapsone binds to CT-DNA with a binding constant in order of 104 M-1. Circular dichroism, thermal denaturation and viscosity experiments revealed that dapsone binds to the grooves of CT-DNA. Competitive DNA binding studies clearly indicated the minor groove binding property of this anti-mycobacterial drug. Molecular docking provided detailed information about the formation of hydrogen bonding in the dapsone-DNA complex. This in silico study further revealed that dapsone binds to the AT-rich region of the minor groove of DNA having a relative binding energy of -6.22 kcal mol-1. Overall, all these findings evolved from this study can be used for better understanding the medicinal importance of dapsone.

Abstract
The sole existence of a t-bone-shaped naphthalimide derivative [2-(2-aminoethyl)-1H-benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3(2H)dione] (NAP), which gives rise to a photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mechanism, has been established using a combination of experimental and theoretical studies. In parallel an in vitro-in cell PET mechanism has also been shown. To understand the photophysics of NAP, solvent studies have been carried out in different solvents. In addition, theoretical calculations have been conducted to explain the spectroscopic properties through optimized structures. A "turn off" PET mechanism has also been observed in the presence of specific metal ions, namely, Cr3+ , Fe3+ and Hg2+ among a series of metal ions. Theoretical studies reveal that NAP-Cr3+ , NAP-Fe3+ and NAP-Hg2+ have their HOMO energy states lying in between a HOMO-LUMO energy state of the t-bone-type NAP molecule. On the contrary, the HOMO state of the other metal ion-NAP conjugate (NAP-Mn+ ) does not lie in between the HOMO-LUMO energy gap of the t-bone-type NAP molecule. Coupled with in vitro studies, in cell investigations reveal an enhancement of fluorescence intensity of NAP upon cytosolic metal sensing. Furthermore, a very high cell viability of NAP treated cells as tested by MTT assay and a fast permeation of the said compound as revealed by flow cytometry suggest NAP to be a potential candidate in metal sensing and bioimaging applications.

Abstract
This paper reports the double confinement of 4,4-diaminodiphenyl sulfone (Dapsone) inside γ-cyclodextrin (CD) in presence of surfactants (cationic, anionic and nonionic) using steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Interpretation of fluorescence spectra, fluorescence anisotropy and time resolved fluorescence decay of the γ-CD • Dapsone•micellar system hints at lesser microviscosity and the partial release of the probe molecule from the supramolecular host-guest complex in ionic micelles, of which greater in cationic micelles, but due to greater restriction and rigidity in presence of non-ionic micelle makes the probe more rigidly inside CD. Changes in computed rotational decay also corroborate the above findings.
