Abstract
The conformational flexibilities are studied in two new organotin(IV) complexes, namely, trans-dichloridodimethylbis[N,N',N''-tris(2-chlorobenzyl)phosphoric triamide]tin(IV), [Sn(CH3)2(C21H21Cl3N3OP)2Cl2] or Sn(CH3)2Cl2{OP[NHCH2C6H4(2-Cl)]3}2, (I), and bis(dipropylammonium) tetrachloridodimethylstannate(IV), [(CH3CH2CH2)2NH2]2[Sn(CH3)2Cl4], (II), and their analogous structures from the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). The conformations are considered based on the N-P=O-Sn torsion angles for (I) and the C-C-C-N, C-C-N-C, C-N-C-C and N-C-C-C torsion angles for the two symmetry-independent [CH3CH2CH2NH2CH2CH2CH3]+ cations in (II), and the ±ac±sp±ac (ac = anticlinal and sp = synperiplanar) and ±ap±ap±ap±ap (ap = antiperiplanar) conformations are observed, respectively. In both structures, the four atoms in the corners of the square-planar segment of the octahedral shape around the Sn atom participate in normal hydrogen-bonding interactions as acceptors, which include two O and two Cl atoms for (I), and four Cl atoms for (II). However, the phosphoric triamide ligands block the environment around the Sn atom and limit the hydrogen-bond pattern to form a supramolecular ribbon assembly, while in the presence of small organic cations in (II), a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded architecture is achieved. The weak interactions π-π, C-H...π and C-Cl...π in (I), and C-H...Cl in (II) do not change the dimensionality of the hydrogen-bond pattern. The 62 CSD structures analogous to (I), i.e. with an SnOPN3 segment (including 83 entries) fall into four categories of conformations based on the N-P=O-Sn torsion angles. The 132 [(CH3CH2CH2)2NH2]+ cations from 85 CSD structures are classified into seven groups based on the torsion angles noted for (II). Most of the CSD structures adopt the same associated conformations noted for (I) and (II). 15 [Sn(CH3)2Cl4]2- anions extracted from the CSD are compared with the structure of (II).

Abstract
![]()
We report the development of a stereoselective
method for the allylation
of ketones utilizing N-substituted allyl equivalents
generated from a chiral allenamide. By choice of the appropriate ligand
for the Cu-catalyst, high linear selectivity can be obtained with
good diastereocontrol. This methodology allows access to chiral γ-hydroxyaldehyde
equivalents that were applied in the synthesis of chiral γ-lactones
and 2,5-disubstitued tetrahydrofurans.

Abstract
A new chiral phosphine oxide based on a 3,3'-bithiophene scaffold (TetraPh-Tol-BITIOPO) was synthesized, fully characterized and separated into antipodes through chiral HPLC. This new compound was successfully employed as an organocatalyst in Lewis base-catalyzed Lewis acid mediated reactions involving trichlorosilyl compounds. The new atropisomeric catalyst was able to promote the allylation of aldehydes with allyltrichlorosilane in up to 98% yield and up to 96% enantiomeric excess (ee), and the direct aldol reaction to afford β-hydroxy ketones and β-hydroxy thioesters, with good chemical yields and modest stereochemical efficiency. Computational studies helped to elucidate and to rationalize the stereochemical outcome of the reactions catalyzed by TetraPh-Tol-BITIOPO that was found to favour the formation of the isomer with an opposite absolute configuration in comparison with the products obtained with the previously reported 3,3'-bithiophene-based catalyst.

Abstract
This review summarizes significant contributions reported on aminophosphine oxides (AmPOs), specifically those containing at least one amino group present as amino substituents on α- and β-carbons including direct P-N bond containing molecules. AmPOs have additional 'N' site(s), including highly basic 'P=O' groups, and these features make favor smooth and unexpected behavior. The most striking manifestations of flexibility of AmPOs are that they are exciting ligand systems for the coordination chemistry of actinides, and their involvement in catalytic organic reactions including enantioselective opening of meso-epoxides, addition of silyl enol ethers, allylation with allyltributylstannane, etc. The diverse properties of the AmPOs and their metal complexes demonstrate both the scope and complexity of these systems, depending on the basicity of phosphoryl group, and nature of the substituents on the pentavalent tetracoordinate phosphorus atom and metal. Two components key to understanding the challenges of actinide separations are detailed here, namely, previously described separation methods, and recent investigations into the fundamental coordination chemistry of actinides. Both are aimed at probing the critical features necessary for improved selectivity of separations. This review leads to the conclusion that, although many AmPOs have already been discovered and developed over the past century, many opportunities nevertheless exist for further developments towards new extraction processes and new catalytic materials by fine tuning the electronic and steric properties of substituents on the central phosphorus atom.

Abstract
We describe the rational design of a linked, bis-thiourea catalyst with enhanced activity relative to monomeric analogues in a representative enantioselective anion-abstraction reaction. Mechanistic insights guide development of this linking strategy to favor substrate activation though the intramolecular cooperation of two thiourea subunits while avoiding nonproductive aggregation. The resulting catalyst platform overcomes many of the practical limitations that have plagued hydrogen-bond-donor catalysis and enables use of catalyst loadings as low as 0.05 mol %. Computational analyses of possible anion-binding modes provide detailed insight into the precise mechanism of anion-abstraction catalysis with this pseudo-dimeric thiourea.

Abstract
Four novel organotin(IV) complexes containing phosphoric triamide ligands were synthesized and characterized by multinuclear ((1)H, (31)P, (13)C) NMR, infrared, ultraviolet and fluorescence spectroscopy as well as elemental analysis. The (1)H NMR spectra of complexes 1-4 proved that the Sn atoms adopt octahedral configurations. The nanoparticles of the complexes were also prepared by ultrasonication, and their SEM micrographs indicated identical spherical morphologies with particles sizes about 20-25 nm. The fluorescence spectra exhibited blue shifts for the maximum wavelength of emission upon complexation.

Abstract
The mechanism of the allylation of aldehydes in the presence of allyltrichlorosilane employing the commercially available (R)-methyl p-tolyl sulfoxide as a Lewis base has been investigated. The combination of kinetic measurements, conductivity analysis and quantum chemical calculations indicates that the reaction proceeds through a dissociative pathway in which an octahedral cationic complex with two sulfoxides is involved. The lack of turnover is ascribed to the formation of neutral sulfurane derivatives.

Abstract
A Rapid Injection NMR (RINMR) apparatus has been designed and constructed to allow the observation of fast chemical reactions in real time by NMR spectroscopy. The instrument was designed to allow the rapid (<2 s) injection and mixing of a metered volume of a reagent into a spinning NMR tube followed by rapid acquisition of the data resulting from the evolution of the chemical process. The various design criteria for this universal system included the ability to deliver any chemical reagent at any temperature and allow for the observation of any nucleus. The various challenges associated with the construction and implementation of this instrument are documented along with the validation of the accuracy of the apparatus with respect to volume and temperature. Finally, the ultimate validation and reproducibility of the technique is presented in the form of three case studies that used the instrument to elucidate various aspects of organic reaction mechanisms. The authors urge interested parties to not embark on the construction of their own instrument and invite those whose research problems might be amenable to this kind of analysis to contact the corresponding author for access to the apparatus described herein.

Abstract
A total synthesis of (+)-papulacandin D has been achieved in 31 steps, in a 9.2% overall yield from commercially available materials. The synthetic strategy divided the molecule into two nearly equal sized subunits, the spirocyclic C-arylglycopyranoside and the polyunsaturated fatty acid side chain. The C-arylglycopyranoside was prepared in 11 steps in a 30% overall yield from triacetoxyglucal. The fatty acid side chain was also prepared in 11 steps in a 30% overall yield from geraniol. The key strategic transformations in the synthesis are: (1) a palladium-catalyzed, organosilanolate-based cross-coupling reaction of a dimethylglucal-silanol with an electron rich and sterically hindered aromatic iodide and (2) a Lewis base-catalyzed, enantioselective allylation reaction of a dienal and allyltrichlorosilane. A critical element in the successful execution of the synthesis was the development of a suitable protecting group strategy that satisfied a number of stringent criteria.

Abstract
New phosphoramidates with the formula RC(O)N(H)P(O)X
2, R = 2-NO2—C6H4, 3-NO2—C6H4 and 4-NO2—C6H4, X = N(CH2CH3) (1)–(3), NC4H8 (4)–(6), and NC4H8O (7)–(9) were synthesized and characterized by 1H, 13C, 31P NMR and IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The reaction of (9) with hydrated lanthanide(III) nitrate leads to ten- or nine-coordinated complexes, (10)–(13). The crystal structure has been determined for (3), (5), (9), (10) and (13). In contrast to all of the previously reported similar phosphoramidate compounds, the —C(O)—N(H)—P(O) skeleton in the free ligand (9) shows a cisoid conformation, with the C=O and P=O double bonds adopting a nearly syn conformation. Quantum chemical calculations were applied for clarifying this exceptional conformational behavior. The monodentate neutral ligand (9) is coordinated to the metal ions via the phosphoryl O atom, adopting the usual anti conformation between the C=O and P=O groups.

Abstract
A new catalytic allylation of aldehydes has been developed that employs allyl acetate as the allylating reagent. Under catalysis by ruthenium trichloride (3 mol %) in the presence of carbon monoxide (30 psi), water (1.5 equiv), and triethylamine (0.1 equiv), a wide range of aromatic, olefinic, and aliphatic aldehydes are efficiently allylated under mild conditions (70 degrees C, 24-48 h). The stoichiometric byproducts of this reaction are carbon dioxide and acetic acid.
