Abstract
Artificial metalloenzymes (BSA-ML) have been prepared by non-covalent insertion of transition metal Schiff-base complexes, ML (L = 2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-naphthaldehyde and 3,4-diaminobenzenesulfonic acid; M = Co, Mn, V, Fe, Cr), into bovine serum albumin (BSA) as the host protein and were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, ESI-TOF mass spectrometry and molecular docking studies. The catalytic activities of the BSA-ML in the selective oxidation of various prochiral sulfides in aqueous media, using H2O2 as oxidant, have been evaluated. During the optimization process, pH and the concentrations of catalyst and oxidant were found to have a remarkable influence on both yield and enantioselectivity. In certain cases, BSA-ML gave satisfactory results in the oxidation of organic sulfides to sulfoxides (up to 100% conversion, 100% chemoselectivity, 96% ee and 500 h-1 turnover frequency).

Abstract
The highly enantioselective enzyme methionine sulfoxide reductase A was combined with an oxaziridine-type oxidant in a biphasic setup for the deracemization of chiral sulfoxides. Remarkably, high ee values were observed with a wide range of substrates, thus providing a practical route for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure sulfoxides.

Abstract
An artificial metalloenzyme (BSA-CoL) based on the incorporation of a cobalt(ii) Schiff base complex {CoL, H2L = 2,2'-[(1,2-ethanediyl)bis(nitrilopropylidyne)]bisphenol} with bovine serum albumin (BSA) has been synthesized and characterized. Attention is focused on the catalytic activity of this artificial metalloenzyme for enantioselective oxidation of a variety of sulfides with H2O2. The influences of parameters such as pH, temperature, and the concentration of catalyst and oxidant on thioanisole as a model are investigated. Under optimum conditions, BSA-CoL as a hybrid biocatalyst is efficient for the enantioselective oxidation of a series of sulfides, producing the corresponding sulfoxides with excellent conversion (up to 100%), chemoselectivity (up to 100%) and good enantiomeric purity (up to 87% ee) in certain cases.

Abstract
Heterogeneous catalysts typically lack the specific steric control and rational electronic tuning required for precise asymmetric catalysis. Here we demonstrate that a phosphonate metal–organic framework (MOF) platform that is robust enough to accommodate up to 16 different metal clusters, allowing for systematic tuning of Lewis acidity, catalytic activity and enantioselectivity. A total of 16 chiral porous MOFs, with the framework formula [M3L2(solvent)2] that have the same channel structures but different surface-isolated Lewis acid metal sites, are prepared from a single phosphono-carboxylate ligand of 1,1′-biphenol and 16 different metal ions. The phosphonate MOFs possessing tert-butyl-coated channels exhibited high thermal stability and good tolerances to boiling water, weak acid and base. The MOFs provide a versatile family of heterogeneous catalysts for asymmetric allylboration, propargylation, Friedel–Crafts alkylation and sulfoxidation with good to high enantioselectivity. In contrast, the homogeneous catalyst systems cannot catalyze the test reactions enantioselectively. Asymmetric synthesis predominantly falls within the realm of homogeneous catalysis. Here, the authors synthesized 16 chiral metal–organic frameworks differing in the nature of the transition metal and demonstrate their excellent stability, catalytic activity and recyclability in a number of enantioselective reactions.

Abstract
The first enantioselective tungstate-catalyzed oxidation reaction is presented. High enantioselectivities were achieved for a variety of drug-like phenyl and heterocyclic sulfides under mild conditions with H2 O2 , a cheap and environmentally friendly oxidant. Synthetic utility was demonstrated through the preparation of (S)-Lansoprazole, a commercial proton-pump inhibitor. The active ion-pair catalyst was identified to be bisguanidinium diphosphatobisperoxotungstate using Raman spectroscopy and computational studies.

Abstract
Aluminum complexes of non-chiral-salalen ligands were investigated in the catalysis of ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of lactide and ε-caprolactone and in their copolymerization. The aluminum-salalen complexes were found to polymerize all varieties of lactide, namely: l-, d-, rac- and meso-lactide, and showed moderate productivities. rac-LA gave rise to isotactic polylactides (with Pm up to 72%), while meso-LA gave rise to heterotactic polylactides (with a Pm of 79%). An experiment was designed for distinguishing between chain-end control and enantiomorphic-site control combined with polymeryl exchange for the isotactic stereoblock microstructure observed for the PLA produced from rac-LA; it gave strong evidence for polymeryl exchange between propagating species. Finally, this class of catalysts promoted the copolymerization of ε-caprolactone and lactides. In particular, compound allowed controlled random copolymerization of ε-caprolactone and l-lactide.

Abstract
In this paper nine various salalen ligands have been prepared and characterised. The steric and electronic effects of both the salen and salan fragments have been varied in a systematic fashion to ascertain how this affects the selectivity for the ROP of rac-lactide. These were complexed to AlMe3 to generate pseudo trigonal bypyramidal metal centred complexes. Upon addition of benzyl alcohol the active initiator can be easily prepared. The complexes were screened for the ROP of rac-lactide in solution and melt conditions. PLA with narrow molecular weight distributions (PDIs range from 1.07-1.67) could be isolated with moderate degrees of tacticity. Significantly it was found that chloro groups on the imine fragment increased the degree of heterotactic enchainment in the polymer. The kinetics for one series of salalen-Al complexes was also investigated.
