Abstract
A versatile one-pot strategy for the generation of compounds of synthetic interest has been presented, promoting the development of practical processes. First, the transannulation of N-sulfonyltriazoles through alkenes and rhodium catalysis was described, giving 2,3-dihydropyrroles in 13-76% yield. As contributions of the strategy, the evaluation of alkenes with different properties, and the use of only drops of solvent (0.40 M) was highlighted. In addition, we described a methodology for the modulation of the N-sulfonyltriazoles, to obtain selectively cyclopropyl tosylimines or 2,3-dihydropyrroles. For the latter products, neat conditions were also included. Finally, the potential of the methodology was demonstrated by the synthesis of six structurally different analogues starting from the same substrates and late-stage transformation of bioactive molecules. These compounds were generated in 38-63% yield, after two or more conversion steps carried out in the same reaction vessel.

Abstract
2,3-Dihydroquinazolinone derivatives are known for antiviral, antimicrobial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. However, recent approaches used for their synthesis suffer from various drawbacks. Therefore, we have fabricated a highly efficient magnetic EDTA-coated catalyst, Fe3O4@EDTA/CuI via a simple approach. The ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) plays a crucial role by strongly trapping the catalytic sites of CuI nanoparticles on the surface of the Fe3O4 core. The designed nanocatalyst demonstrates its potential for the catalytic synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolinones using 2-aminobenzamide with aldehydes as the reaction partners. The nanocatalyst was thoroughly characterized through X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and inductively coupled plasma analysis (ICP). The physiochemically characterized nanocatalyst was tested for synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolinones and higher yields of derivatives were obtained with less time duration. Moreover, the catalytic synthesis is easy to operate without the use of any kind of additives/bases. Furthermore, the catalyst was magnetically recoverable after the completion of the reaction and displayed reusability for six successive rounds without any loss in its catalytic efficiency (confirmed by XRD, SEM, and TEM of the recycled material) along with very low leaching of copper (2.12 ppm) and iron (0.06 ppm) ions. Also, the green metrics were found in correlation with the ideal values (such as E factor (0.10), process mass intensity (1.10), carbon efficiency (96%) and reaction mass efficiency (90.62%)).

Abstract
The synergistic use of chiral bifunctional ammonium iodide catalysts in combination with simple catalytically relevant aldimines allows for an unprecedented asymmetric α-hydroxylation reaction of β-ketoesters using H2O2. The reaction proceeds via in situ formation of a hypervalent iodine species, which then reacts with the used aldimine to generate an activated electrophilic oxygen transfer reagent.

Abstract
Oxaziridines have emerged as powerful and elegant oxygen- and nitrogen-transfer agents for a broad array of nucleophiles, due to the remarkably high and tunable reactivities. However, the asymmetric catalysis involving oxaziridines is still in its infancy. Herein, this review aims to examine recent advances in the catalytic asymmetric transformations of oxaziridines, including oxidation, amination, cycloaddition and deracemization.

Abstract
The development of highly efficient reactions at only the desired position is one of the most important subjects in organic chemistry. Most of the reactions in current organic chemistry are reagent- or catalyst-controlled reactions, and the regio- and stereoselectivity of the reactions are determined by the inherent nature of the reagent or catalyst. In sharp contrast, substrate-directed reaction determines the selectivity of the reactions by the functional group on the substrate and can strictly distinguish sterically and electronically similar multiple reaction sites in the substrate. In this Perspective, three topics of substrate-directed reaction are mainly reviewed: (1) directing group-assisted epoxidation of alkenes, (2) ring-opening reactions of epoxides by various nucleophiles, and (3) catalytic peptide synthesis. Our newly developed synthetic methods with new ligands including hydroxamic acid derived ligands realized not only highly efficient reactions but also pinpointed reactions at the expected position, demonstrating the substrate-directed reaction as a powerful method to achieve the desired regio- and stereoselective functionalization of molecules from different viewpoints of reagent- or catalyst-controlled reactions.

Abstract
Cinchona alkaloids with a free 6'-OH functionality are being increasingly used within asymmetric organocatalysis. This fascinating class of bifunctional catalyst offers a genuine alternative to the more commonly used thiourea systems and because of the different spacing between the functional groups, can control enantioselectivity where other organocatalysts have failed. In the main, this review covers the highlights from the last five years and attempts to show the diversity of reactions that these systems can control. It is hoped that chemists developing asymmetric methodologies will see the value in adding these easily accessible, but underused organocatalysts to their screens.

Abstract
A highly enantioselective Lewis base-catalysed formal [3+2] cycloaddition of ammonium enolates and oxaziridines to give stereodefined oxazolidin-4-ones in high yield is described. Employing an enantioenriched oxaziridine in this process leads to a matched/mis-matched effect with the isothiourea catalyst and allowed the synthesis of either syn- or anti-stereodefined oxazolidin-4-ones in high d.r., yield and ee. Additionally, the oxazolidin-4-one products have been derivatised to afford functionalised enantioenriched building blocks.

Abstract
An efficient and highly enantioselective Payne-type oxidation of N-sulfonyl imines is developed. The reaction exhibits broad substrate generality and unique chemoselectivity based on the combined use of hydrogen peroxide and trichloroacetonitrile under the catalysis of P-spiro chiral triaminoiminophosphorane.

Abstract
Metal-catalyzed stereoselective reactions are a central theme in organic chemistry research. In these reactions, the stereoselection is achieved predominantly by introducing chiral ligands at the metal catalyst's center. For decades, researchers have sought better chiral ligands for asymmetric catalysis and have made great progress. Nevertheless, to achieve optimal stereoselectivity and to catalyze new reactions, new chiral ligands are needed. Because of their high metal affinity, hydroxamic acids play major roles across a broad spectrum of fields from biochemistry to metal extraction. Dr. K. Barry Sharpless first revealed their potential as chiral ligands for asymmetric synthesis in 1977: He published the chiral vanadium-hydroxamic-acid-catalyzed, enantioselective epoxidation of allylic alcohols before his discovery of Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation, which uses the titanium-tartrate complex as the chiral reagent. However, researchers have reported few highly enantioselective reactions using metal-hydroxamic acid as catalysts since then. This Account summarizes our research on metal-catalyzed asymmetric epoxidation using hydroxamic acids as chiral ligands. We designed and synthesized a series of new hydroxamic acids, most notably the C2-symmetric bis-hydroxamic acid (BHA) family. V-BHA-catalyzed epoxidation of allylic and homoallylic alcohols achieved higher activity and stereoselectivity than Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation in many cases. Changing the metal species led to a series of unprecedented asymmetric epoxidation reactions, such as (i) single olefins and sulfides with Mo-BHA, (ii) homoallylic and bishomoallylic alcohols with Zr- and Hf-BHA, and (iii) N-alkenyl sulfonamides and N-sulfonyl imines with Hf-BHA. These reactions produce uniquely functionalized chiral epoxides with good yields and enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Asymmetric epoxidation of allylic and homoallylic amine derivatives catalyzed by Hf(IV)-bishydroxamic acid complexes is described. Under similar conditions, aldimine and ketimine produced oxaziridines. The sulfonyl group is demonstrated to be an effective directing group for these transformations.
