Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of skipped dienes has been developed based on an iridium-catalyzed allylic alkylation of phosphonates and Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination. This two-step protocol uses easily accessible substrates and delivers C2-substituted skipped dienes bearing a C3 stereogenic center, generally with outstanding enantioselectivities (up to 99.5:0.5 er). This is the first catalytic enantioselective allylic alkylation of phosphonates, and the overall process represents a formal enantioselective α-C(sp2)-H allylic alkylation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyls and acrylonitrile.

Abstract
A transition metal/ligand-free disulfuration of anilines with disulfur transfer reagents (dithiosulfonate or tetrasulfide) is reported herein. The reaction, which can be considered as a reductive disulfuration variation of the classic Sandmeyer reaction, is performed under mild conditions and exhibits broad scope across the aniline substrate and disulfur transfer reagent classes. The gram-scale synthesis of disulfides is successfully achieved through this method, rendering the approach highly valuable.

Abstract
Kinetic resolution of racemic spiroindolines with s factors of ≤15200 has been developed to access enantiomerically enriched indole-annulated medium-sized lactams and spiroindolines through Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylative ring-opening reaction. Density functional theory calculations support the idea that the accurate discrimination of two spiroindoline enantiomers by (η3-allyl)-iridium(III) species and the perfect central-to-axial chirality conversion during C-C bond fragmentation ensure the stereoselective formation of two contiguous stereogenic centers and one axis in the medium-sized lactams.

Abstract
We designed a cooperative catalytic system by combining commercially available Ca(NTf2)PF6 and Pd(PPh3)4 to address the dehydrative allylation of alkenyl sp2 C-H bonds in an environmentally benign manner. A novel C-OH bond cleavage method was found to be crucial for this practical protocol. A variety of alkenes and allylic alcohols equipped with wide-spectrum functional groups can be successfully incorporated into the desired cross-coupling, affording 1,4-dienes with moderate to excellent yields and high stereo- and regioselectivity.

Abstract
A comprehensive study of a diastereoselective Rh-catalyzed cyclization of terminal and internal allenols is reported. The methodology allows the atom economic and highly syn-selective access to synthetically important 2,4-disubstituted and 2,4,6-trisubstituted tetrahydropyrans (THP). Furthermore, its utility and versatility are demonstrated by a great functional-group compatibility and the enantioselective total synthesis of (-)-centrolobine.

Abstract
The RhIII -catalyzed, consecutive double C-H oxidative coupling of free 1-naphthylamine and α,β-unsaturated esters through C-H/C-H and C-H/N-H bonds is reported. The one step reaction leads to the formation of biologically important alkylidene-1,2-dihydrobenzo[cd]indoles scaffolds. This efficient process is much more synthetically convenient and useful than others because the starting materials, such as 1-naphthylamine derivatives are readily available and the free amine serves as a directing group.

Abstract
A distal-selective alkenyl C-H arylation method is reported through a directed palladium/norbornene (Pd/NBE) cooperative catalysis. The key is to use an appropriate combination of the directing group and the NBE cocatalyst. A range of acyclic and cyclic cis-olefins are suitable substrates, and the reaction is operated under air with excellent site-selectivity. Preliminary mechanistic studies are consistent with the proposed Pd/NBE-catalyzed C-H activation instead of the Heck pathway. Initial success on distal alkylation has also been achieved using MeI and methyl bromoacetate as electrophiles.

Abstract
An efficient synthetic route to chiral allylic amines has been developed by nickel/(S,S)-Ph-BPE complex catalyzed chemoselective asymmetric hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated ketoimines. Varieties of α,β-unsaturated ketoimines have been well tolerated in this transformation to give chiral allylic amines with high yields and excellent ee values (up to 99% yield, up to 99% ee). A gram-scale reaction with 0.2 mol % catalyst loading has also been achieved.

Abstract
A Ba/Pd cooperative catalysis system was developed to enable the dehydrative cross-coupling of allylic alcohols with P-ylides to occur directly and promote a subsequent Wittig reaction in one pot. A variety of multisubstituted 1,4-dienes were isolated in good to excellent yields with broad P-ylides (stabilized by both ester and ketone carbonyl groups) and aldehyde (aliphatic and aromatic) substrates with excellent E selectivity.

Abstract
A stereodivergent and diastereoselective transition-metal-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamidation of allenes and alkynes furnishing δ-vinyl-lactams is reported.
A stereodivergent and diastereoselective transition-metal-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamidation of allenes and alkynes furnishing δ-vinyl-lactams is reported. Employing a rhodium catalyst allowed for the selective synthesis of the syn-δ-lactam. Conversely, a palladium catalyst led to the formation of the anti-δ-lactam in high selectivity. The new method shows high functional group compatibility and assorted synthetic transformations were demonstrated as well as its utility for the enantioselective formal total syntheses of (–)-cermizine C and (–)-senepodine G.

Abstract
In this review, we summarize the origin and advancements of iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions during the past two decades. Since the first report in 1997, Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have attracted intense attention due to their exceptionally high regio- and enantioselectivities. Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have been significantly developed in recent years in many respects, including ligand development, mechanistic understanding, substrate scope, and application in the synthesis of complex functional molecules. In this review, an explicit outline of ligands, mechanism, scope of nucleophiles, and applications is presented.

Abstract
A well-defined Ir-allyl complex catalyzes the Z-selective cross-coupling of allyl carbonates with α-aryl diazo esters. The process overrides the large thermodynamic preference for E-products typically observed in metal-mediated coupling reactions to enable the synthesis of Z,E-dieneoates in good yield with selectivities consistently approaching or greater than 90 : 10. This transformation represents the first productive merger of Ir-carbene and Ir-allyl species, which are commonly encountered intermediates in allylation and cyclopropanation/E-H insertion catalysis. Potentially reactive functional groups (aryl halides, ketones, nitriles, olefins, amines) are tolerated owing to the mildness of reaction conditions. Kinetic analysis of the reaction suggests oxidative addition of the allyl carbonate to an Ir-species is rate-determining. Mechanistic studies uncovered a pathway for catalyst activation mediated by NEt3.

Abstract
Metal catalyzed allylic substitution is a cornerstone of organometallic and synthetic chemistry. Enantioselective versions have been developed with catalysts derived from transition metals, most notably molybdenum, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, iridium, palladium, and copper. The palladium- and the iridium-catalyzed versions have turned out to be particularly versatile in organic synthesis because of the very broad scope of the nucleophile and great functional group compatibility. Assets of the iridium-catalyzed reaction are the formation of branched, chiral products from simple monosubstituted allylic substrates, high degrees of regio- and enantioselectivity, and use of modular, readily available chiral ligands. The possibility to use carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur compounds as well as fluoride as nucleophiles allows a wide range of chiral building blocks to be prepared. Our Account begins with the presentation of fundamental reaction schemes and chiral ligands. We will focus our discussion on reactions promoted by phosphoramidite ligands, though numerous chiral ligands have been employed. The subsequent section presents a brief overview of reaction mechanism and experimental conditions. Two versions of the iridium-catalyzed allylic substitution have emerged. In type 1 reactions (introduced in 1997), linear allylic esters are commonly used as substrates under basic reaction conditions. In type 2 reactions (introduced in 2007), environmentally friendly branched allylic alcohols can be reacted under acidic conditions; occasionally, derivatives of allylic alcohols have also been applied. A unique feature of the type 2 reactions is that highly electrophilic allylic intermediates can be brought to reaction with weakly activated alkenes. The subsequent text is ordered according to the strategies followed to transform allylic substitution products to desired targets, most of which are natural products or drugs. Syntheses starting with an intermolecular allylic substitution are discussed first. Some fairly complex targets, for example, the potent nitric oxide inhibitor (-)-nyasol and the drug (-)-protrifenbute, have been synthesized via less than five steps from simple starting materials. Most targets discussed are cyclic compounds. Intermolecular allylic substitution with subsequent ring closing metathesis is a powerful strategy for their synthesis. Highlights are stereodivergent syntheses of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinols (THC), wherein iridium- and organocatalysis are combined (dual catalysis). The combination of allylic alkylation with a Diels-Alder reaction was utilized to synthesize the ketide apiosporic acid and the drug fesoterodine (Toviaz). Sequential allylic amination, hydroboration and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling generates enones suitable for conjugate addition reactions; this strategy was employed in syntheses of a variety of alkaloids, for example, the poison frog alkaloid (+)-cis-195A (pumiliotoxin C). Intramolecular substitutions offer interesting possibilities to build up stereochemical complexity via short synthetic routes. For example, in diastereoselective cyclizations of chiral compounds, substrate control can be overruled by catalyst control in order to generate cis- and trans-isomers selectively from a given precursor. This approach was used to prepare a variety of piperidine and pyrrolidine alkaloids. Finally, complex polycyclic structures, including the structurally unusual indolosesquiterpenoid mycoleptodiscin A, have been generated diastereo- and enantioselectively from olefins by polyene cyclizations and from electron-rich arenes, such as indoles, in dearomatization reactions.
