Abstract
An enantio- and regioconvergent allylation of phenols under nickel catalysis with an α-/γ-regioisomeric mixture of racemic silylated/germylated allylic chlorides is reported. The silyl/germyl group governs the regioselectivity, and the transformation affords enantiomerically enriched unsymmetrical 1,3-disubstituted allyl aryl ethers with excellent regiocontrol in good yields and excellent enantioselectivities. Notably, no nickel-mediated C-O bond activation is observed at room temperature. The synthetic value of these densely functionalized silicon-containing building blocks is demonstrated in a series of chemoselective transformations, including a [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement for the construction of an α-chiral silane.

Abstract
Chiral cyclobutane presents as a popular motif in natural products and biologically active molecules, and its derivatives have been extensively used as key synthons in organic synthesis. Herein, we report an efficient synthetic method toward enantioenriched cyclobutane derivatives. The reaction proceeds in a cascade fashion involving Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic etherification and visible-light induced [2 + 2] cycloaddition. Readily available branched allyl acetates and cinnamyl alcohols are directly used as the substrates under mild reaction conditions, providing a broad range of chiral cyclobutanes in good yields with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities (up to 12:1 dr, >99% ee). It is worth noting that all substrates and catalysts were simultaneously added without any separated step in this approach. The gram-scale reaction and diverse transformations of product further enhance the potential utility of this method.

Abstract
An efficient method for the synthesis of (E)-(3-alkoxybut-1-enyl)benzenes by Pd-catalyzed regioselective intermolecular hydroalkoxylation of 1-arylbutadienes has been developed. This method can be executed in a simple operation with no dry reaction conditions required and having tolerance to a wide range of substrates. Chloromethyl methyl ether (MOMCl) as an additive was found to be essential for the success of the reaction.

Abstract
Asymmetric allylic alkylation (AAA) is a powerful method for the formation of highly useful, non-racemic allylic compounds. Here we present a complementary enantioselective process that generates allylic lactones via π-acid catalysis. More specifically, a catalytic enantioselective dehydrative lactonization of allylic alcohols using a novel PdII -catalyst containing the imidazole-based P,N-ligand (S)-StackPhos is reported. The high-yielding reactions are operationally simple to perform with enantioselectivities up to 99 % ee. This strategy facilitates the replacement of a poor leaving group with what would ostensibly be a better leaving group in the product avoiding complications arising from racemization by equilibration.

Abstract
Alkenyl boronates add to Ir(π-allyl) intermediates with high enantioselectivity. A 1,2-metalate shift forms a second C-C bond and sets a 1,3-stereochemical relationship. The three-component coupling provides tertiary boronic esters that can undergo multiple additional functionalizations. An extension to trisubstituted olefins sets three contiguous stereocenters.

Abstract
Asymmetric construction of quinuclidine derivatives has been realized by an iridium-catalyzed allylic dearomatization reaction. The catalytic system, derived from [Ir(cod)Cl] 2 and the Feringa ligand, tolerates a broad range of substrates. A large array of quinuclidine derivatives can be obtained under mild conditions in good to excellent yields (68%–96%), diastereoselectivity (up to >20/1 dr), and enantioselectivity (up to >99% ee). These products feature versatile functional group diversity and can undergo diverse transformations. A model that accounts for the origin of the stereoselectivity has been proposed based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract
In this review, we summarize the origin and advancements of iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions during the past two decades. Since the first report in 1997, Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have attracted intense attention due to their exceptionally high regio- and enantioselectivities. Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have been significantly developed in recent years in many respects, including ligand development, mechanistic understanding, substrate scope, and application in the synthesis of complex functional molecules. In this review, an explicit outline of ligands, mechanism, scope of nucleophiles, and applications is presented.

Abstract
An enantioselective iridium-catalyzed allylic substitution with a set of highly unstabilized nucleophiles generated in situ from 2-methylpyridines is described. Enantioenriched 2-substituted pyridines, which are frequently encountered in natural products and pharmaceuticals, could be easily constructed by this simple method in good yields and excellent enantioselectivity. The synthetic utility of the pyridine products is demonstrated through the synthesis of a key intermediate of a reported Na+ /H+ exchanger inhibitor and the total synthesis of (-)-lycopladine A.

Abstract
The first Ir-catalyzed enantioselective allylation of trisubstituted allylic electrophiles has been developed. Through modification of the leaving group of allylic electrophiles, we found that trisubstituted allylic phosphates are suitable electrophiles for asymmetric allylation. The reaction of allylic phosphates with enol silanes derived from dioxinones gave allylated products in good yields with high enantioselectivities.

Abstract
An iridium-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric allylic dearomatization reaction of naphthol derivatives is described. Challenges confronted in this reaction include chemoselectivity between carbon and oxygen atoms as nucleophilic centers, diastereoselectivity when contiguous chiral centers are generated, and enantioselective control for constructing an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter. In the presence of an iridium catalyst generated from [{Ir(dbcot)Cl}2] (dbcot=dibenzocyclooctatetraene) and a new THQphos (tetrahydroquinolinedinaphthophosphoramidite) ligand, various spironaphthalenones were obtained with up to greater than 95:5 C/O selectivity, greater than 95:5 d.r., and 99 % ee, thus providing a general method for the dearomatization of naphthols.

Abstract
The first Ir-catalyzed intramolecular asymmetric allylic dearomatization reaction of pyridines, pyrazines, quinolines, and isoquinolines has been developed. Enabled by in situ formed chiral Ir-catalyst, the dearomatized products were isolated in high levels of yield (up to 99% yield) and enantioselectivity (up to 99% ee). It is worth noting that the Me-THQphos ligand is much more efficient than other tested ligands for the dearomatization of pyrazines and certain quinolines. Mechanistic studies of the dearomatization reaction were carried out, and the results suggest the feasibility of an alternative process which features the formation of a quinolinium as the key intermediate. The mechanistic findings render this reaction a yet unknown type in the chemistry of Reissert-type reactions. In addition, the utility of this method was showcased by a large-scale reaction and formal synthesis of (+)-gephyrotoxin.
