Abstract
Two enantiomeric pairs of new 3d-4f heterometallic clusters have been synthesized from two enantiomer Schiff base derivatives: (R/S)-2-[(2-hydroxy-1-phenylethylimino)methyl] phenol (R-/S-H2L). The formulae of the series clusters are Co3Ln(R-L)6 (Ln = Dy (1R), Gd (2R)), Co3Ln (S-L)6 (Ln = Dy (1S), Gd (2S)), whose crystal structures and magnetic properties have been characterized. Structural analysis indicated that the above clusters crystallize in the chiral P213 group space. The central lanthanide ion has a coordination geometry of D3 surrounded by three [CoIII(L)2]- anions using six aliphatic oxygen atoms of L2- featuring a star-shaped [CoIII3LnIII] configuration. Magnetic measurements showed the presence of slow magnetic relaxation with an effective energy barrier of 22.33 K in the DyIII derivatives under a zero-dc field. Furthermore, the circular dichroism (CD) spectra of 1R and 1S confirmed their enantiomeric nature.

Abstract
Since the last century, we have witnessed the development of molecular magnetism which deals with magnetic materials based on molecular species, i.e., organic radicals and metal complexes. Among them, the broadest attention was devoted to molecule-based ferro-/ferrimagnets, spin transition materials, including those exploring electron transfer, molecular nanomagnets, such as single-molecule magnets (SMMs), molecular qubits, and stimuli-responsive magnetic materials. Their physical properties open the application horizons in sensors, data storage, spintronics, and quantum computation. It was found that various optical phenomena, such as thermochromism, photoswitching of magnetic and optical characteristics, luminescence, nonlinear optical and chiroptical effects, as well as optical responsivity to external stimuli, can be implemented into molecule-based magnetic materials. Moreover, the fruitful interactions of these optical effects with magnetism in molecule-based materials can provide new physical cross-effects and multifunctionality, enriching the applications in optical, electronic, and magnetic devices. This Review aims to show the scope of optical phenomena generated in molecule-based magnetic materials, including the recent advances in such areas as high-temperature photomagnetism, optical thermometry utilizing SMMs, optical addressability of molecular qubits, magneto-chiral dichroism, and opto-magneto-electric multifunctionality. These findings are discussed in the context of the types of optical phenomena accessible for various classes of molecule-based magnetic materials.

Abstract
Determining the true or false chirality of a system is essential for the design of advanced chiral materials and for improving their applications. Typically, a magnetic field would cause false optical activity in the chiral material system, thus confusing the true chirality's influence. Here, we provide a simple way to uncover the true and false chirality in chiral ferrimagnetic nanoparticles (FNPs) by using the gel as a rigid frame. The remnant local magnetic field of the FNP gel can be easily adjusted by an external magnetic field or by controlling the concentration of the FNPs. Moreover, the potential application of the FNP gel is detected by induced magnetic circularly polarized luminescence. This work provides deep insight into the true and false chirality in magnetic nanosystems and offers a strategy to construct new optic elements with an adjustable local magnetic field.

Abstract
By introducing enantiomerically pure mono-bidentate N-donor ligands (LR/LS) into Yb(btfa)3(H2O)2 and Yb(dbm)3(H2O), respectively, two pairs of chiral YbIII enantiomers, namely Yb(btfa)3LR/Yb(btfa)3LS (D-1/L-1) and [Yb(dbm)3LR]·[Yb(dbm)3(C2H5OH)]/[Yb(dbm)3LS]·[Yb(dbm)3(C2H5OH)] (D-2/L-2) were isolated, where btfa- = 3-benzoyl-1,1,1-trifluoroacetonate, dbm- = dibenzoylmethanate, and LR/LS = (-)/(+)-4,5-pinenepyridyl-2-pyrazine. D-1/L-1 possess mononuclear structures in which the YbIII ions are eight-coordinated, while D-2/L-2 show cocrystal structures containing Yb(dbm)3(LR/LS) and Yb(dbm)3(C2H5OH) moieties in which the two YbIII ions are eight and seven-coordinated, respectively. They not only feature different molecular structures but also present distinct linear and nonlinear optical performances. Chiral mononuclear D-1 has better near infrared photo-luminescence (NIR-PL) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) performances than chiral cocrystal D-2. More remarkably, D-1/L-1 show large second-harmonic generation (SHG) responses (up to 1.25/1.28 × KDP) 18/16 times those of D-2/L-2 (0.07/0.08 × KDP). In addition, D-2/L-2 represent the first examples of lanthanide cocrystal complexes with NIR-PL, NIR-CPL and SHG properties.

Abstract
By employing enantiomerically pure mono-bidentate N-donors (LR/LS) as chiral bridging ligands to react with Cu(ClO4)2(H2O)6 in CH3CN-DMF mixed solvent, respectively, a pair of ionic one-dimensional (1D) Cu(II) chain enantiomers formulated as {[CuLR(CH3CN)(DMF)H2O](ClO4)2}n/{[CuLS(CH3CN)(DMF)H2O](ClO4)2}n (D-1/L-1) were isolated and structurally characterized, where LR/LS = (-)/(+)-4,5-pinenepyridyl-2-pyrazine. They crystallize in the noncentrosymmetric (NCS) P212121 space group of an orthorhombic system due to the introduction of chiral LR/LS, and the ClO4- groups as counteranions reside in crystal lattices, thus leading to charge separation with large dipole moments in their molecular structures. Based on crystal samples, investigation on their nonlinear optical (NLO) behaviors showed that D-1 and L-1 display simultaneously much larger second- and third-harmonic generation (SHG and THG) responses than their analogues based on the same chiral N-donors (LR/LS) and Cu(NO3)2(H2O)3 with NO3- acting as the coordination group to bind Cu(II) ions. The SHG intensities of D-1/L-1 are 0.62/0.60 × KDP (KH2PO4), and THG intensities of D-1/L-1 are 238/228 × α-SiO2. Our finding indicates that coordination polymers (CPs) with charge separation and NCS structures, i.e., ionic CPs with NCS arrangements are the ideal NLO crystalline materials for the simultaneous observation of large SHG and THG responses, thus providing a new approach to obtain NLO-active CP crystalline materials with high-performance SHG and THG responses.

Abstract
Research on isomers is highly desirable due to their prospective role in better understanding of physicochemical properties of similar systems and further development of multifunctional molecular materials. Iron(II) and tetra(thiocyanato)mercury(II) ions self-assembled in the presence of 2-acetylpyridine (2-acpy) excess to form two {[Fe(2-acpy)][Hg(μ-SCN)4]}n isomers: two-dimensional (2D) centrosymmetric layers with folded ring structural motifs (1) and three-dimensional (3D) chiral networks with right- or left-handed {···Fe-NCS-Hg-SCN···}∞ helixes (2). New methods of designing and synthesizing functional thiocyanate-bridged materials have been proposed. In addition, the similarity between 1 and 2 allowed for the description of subtle changes in IR and UV-visible spectra. Moreover, 2 shows spontaneous resolution, and it crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric space group P21, leading to the occurrence of nonlinear optical activity in circular dichroism studies and second harmonic generation (SHG). At room temperature, the SH susceptibility for powder sample 2 reached 6.0 × 10-11 esu. Ab initio calculations indicated the electric polarization vector and the crystallographic twofold screw axis pass through the aromatic ring. Magnetic studies for 1 and 2 revealed high-spin iron(II) with zero-field splitting at low temperatures. Analysis of magnetic data gave |D| = 37.45 cm-1, |E/D| = 5.59 cm-1, and ⟨g⟩ = 2.15 for 1, |D| = 36.78 cm-1, |E/D| = 4.92 cm-1, and ⟨g⟩ = 2.18 for 2, and information about the orientation of magnetic anisotropy vectors for both compounds.

Crystal Engineering of Conglomerates: Dilution of Racemate-Forming Fe(II) and Ni(II) Congeners into Conglomerate-Forming [Zn(bpy)3](PF6)2. CHEMISTRY 2023. Abstract
Conglomerate formation, where enantiomers within a racemic mixture self-segregate upon crystallization, is an advantageous property for obtaining chirally pure crystals and allows large-scale chiral resolution. However, the prevalence of conglomerates is low and difficult to predict. In this report, we describe our attempts to engineer conglomerates from racemate-forming compounds by integrating them into a conglomerate-forming matrix. In this regard, we found that Ni(II) and Fe(II) form molecular alloys with Zn(II) in [MxZn(1−x)(bpy)3](PF6)2 (where bpy = 2,2′-bipyridyl). Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) evidenced conglomerate crystallization with Ni(II) concentrations up to about 25%, while it was observed only for much lower concentrations of Fe(II). This can be attributed to the ability of [Ni(bpy)3](PF6)2 to access a metastable conglomerate phase, while no such phase has been detected in [Fe(bpy)3](PF6)2. Furthermore, the chiral phase appears to be favored in fast-growing precipitates, while the racemic phase is favored in slow re-crystallizations for both Ni(II) and Fe(II) molecular alloys. X-ray natural circular dichroism (XNCD) measurements on [Ni0.13Zn0.87(bpy)3](PF6)2 demonstrate the chirality of the nickel molecules within the zinc molecular matrix.

Abstract
The combination of chirality and magnetism has steadily grown over the last decennia into an area of intense research. Magnetochiral anisotropy, chirality-induced spin-selectivity and helimagnetism are the most prominent phenomena resulting from this combination, touching different systems like topological (semi-)metals and insulators, quantum magnets, type II multiferroics and enantio-selective synthesis. As an extension to this area, we argue, based on symmetry arguments, that magnetochiral anisotropy will manifest itself in the displacement current in chiral dielectrics in a magnetic field. We confirm this conjecture by the experimental observation of very strong dielectric magnetochiral anisotropy near the ferroelectric phase transitions of triglycine sulfate and Rochelle salt, two of the oldest and most investigated chiral ferroelectrics. This effect opens a new playground in the study and characterisation of all chiral dielectrics. With our discovery, magnetochiral anisotropy now covers the (di)electrical properties of all condensed matter, from insulators to superconductors. The interplay between chirality and magnetism has been attracting much. Here, the authors show that the movement of bound charges in a chiral dielectric depends on the relative orientation between this movement and an external magnetic field.

Abstract
It is challenging to use achiral ligands to spontaneously construct chiral molecular magnets. In this work, two new Ln4 cluster complexes based on N,N'-(1,3-propanediyl)bis[N-[1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-hydroxyethyl]amine] (H6L) have been assembled, which are crystallized in a chiral space group due to the asymmetric distribution of acetate (OAc-) groups and hexafluoroacetylacetonate (F6acac-) groups on both sides of the parallelogram-like Ln4 core. Complex 1, [Dy4(H3L)2(OAc)3(F6acac)3]·5MeOH·2H2O, exhibits single-molecule magnet properties at the zero field with the U eff/k value of 48.4 K; notably, besides the Orbach process, the Raman process is also prominent for the magnetic relaxation of 1. Complex 2, [Gd4(H3L)2(OAc)3(F6acac)3]·4MeOH·2.5H2O, displays a large magnetocaloric effect, whose largest -ΔS m value is 21.88 J kg-1 K-1 (when T = 2 K and ΔH = 5 T); it thus can be utilized as a good magnetic refrigeration molecular material.

Abstract
Here, we report the molecular self-assembly of hydroxido-bridged {Ln5Ni6} ((Ln3+ = Dy3+, Y3+) metal clusters by the reaction of enantiopure chiral ligands, namely, (R/S)-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-serine), with NiII and LnIII precursors. Single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that these compounds are isostructural sandwich-like 3d-4f heterometallic clusters showing helical chirality. Direct current magnetic measurements on {Dy5Ni6} indicates ferromagnetic coupling between DyIII and NiII centers, whereas those on {Y5Ni6} denote that the NiII centers are antiferromagnetically coupled and/or magnetically anisotropic. Magneto-chiral dichroism (MChD) measurements on {Dy5Ni6} and its comparison to that of {Y5Ni6} provide the first experimental observation of intense multimetal site MChD signals in the visible-near-infrared region. Moreover, the comparison of MChD with natural and magnetic circular dichroism spectra unambiguously demonstrate for the first time that the MChD signals associated with the NiII d-d transitions are mostly driven by natural optical activity and those associated with the DyIII f-f transitions are driven by magnetic optical activity.

Abstract
The interest in the generation of photoluminescence in lanthanide(III) single-molecule magnets (SMMs) is driven by valuable magneto-optical correlations as well as perspectives toward magnetic switching of emission and opto-magnetic devices linking SMMs with optical thermometry. In the pursuit of enhanced magnetic anisotropy and optical features, the key role is played by suitable ligands attached to the 4f metal ion. In this context, cyanido complexes of d-block metal ions, serving as expanded metalloligands, are promising. We report two novel discrete coordination systems serving as emissive SMMs, {[DyIII(H2O)3(tmpo)3]2[PtIVBr2(CN)4]3}·2H2O (1) and {[DyIII(H2O)(tmpo)4]2[PtIVBr2(CN)4]3}·2CH3CN (2) (tmpo = trimethylphosphine oxide), obtained by combining DyIII complexes with uncommon dibromotetracyanidoplatinate(IV) ions, [PtIVBr2(CN)4]2-. They are built of analogous Z-shaped cyanido-bridged {Dy2Pt3} molecules but differ in the coordination number of DyIII (C.N. = 8 in 1, C.N. = 7 in 2) and the number of coordinated tmpo ligands (three in 1, four in 2) which is related to the applied solvents. As a result, both compounds reveal DyIII-centred slow magnetic relaxation but only 1 shows SMM character at zero dc field, while 2 is a field-induced SMM. The relaxation dynamics in both systems is governed by the Raman relaxation mechanism. These effects were analysed using ac magnetic data and the results of the ab initio calculations with the support of magneto-optical correlations based on low-temperature high-resolution emission spectra. Our findings indicate that heteroligand halogeno-cyanido PtIV complexes are promising precursors for emissive SMMs with the further potential of sensitivity to external stimuli that may be related to the lability of the axially positioned halogeno ligands.

The Underexplored Field of Lanthanide Complexes with Helicene Ligands: Towards Chiral Lanthanide Single Molecule Magnets. MAGNETOCHEMISTRY 2021. Abstract
The effective combination of chirality and magnetism in a single crystalline material can lead to fascinating cross-effects, such as magneto-chiral dichroism. Among a large variety of chiral ligands utilized in the design and synthesis of chiral magnetic materials, helicenes seem to be the most appealing ones, due to the exceptionally high specific rotation values that reach thousands of deg·cm3·g−1·dm−1, which is two orders of magnitude higher than for compounds with chiral carbon atoms. Despite the sizeable family of transition metal complexes with helicene-type ligands, there are only a few examples of such complexes with lanthanide ions. In this mini-review, we describe the most recent developments in the field of lanthanide-based complexes with helicene-type ligands and summarize insights regarding the further exploration of this family of compounds towards multifunctional chiral lanthanide single molecule magnets (Ln-SMMs).

Abstract
By the bridging action of the 6-chloro-2-hydroxypyridine (Hchp) ligand and the terminal coordination role of the homochiral ligand, (-)/(+)-3-trifluoroacetyl camphor (l-Htfc/d-Htfc), a pair of enantiomerically pure dysprosium(III) dinuclear complexes, [Dy2(l-tfc)4(chp)2(MeOH)2] (l-1) and [Dy2(d-tfc)4(chp)2(MeOH)2] (d-1), was obtained. Their circular dichroism (CD) spectra verified their enantiomeric nature. Magnetic investigation indicated that they exhibit ferromagnetic interaction and good zero field single-molecule magnet (SMM) properties. The Ueff/k values of l-1 and d-1 at 0 Oe are 180.5 and 181.3 K, respectively, which are large values for homochiral Dy(III) SMMs. A reasonable explanation for the magnetic properties of l-1 and d-1 was supplied by ab initio calculations. Remarkably, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) investigation revealed that the chiral Dy2 enantiomers show a strong magneto-optical Faraday effect at room temperature, suggesting potential applications in magneto-optical devices.

Abstract
One-dimensional zigzag cyanido-bridged coordination polymers have been prepared as a result of self-assembly of lanthanide(III) ions with octacyanidotungstate(V) anions in the presence of N,N-dimethylacetamide (dma). All compounds crystallized in noncentrosymmetric space group P21 with a molecular formula of [LnIII(dma)5][WV(CN)8] [Ln = Gd (1), Tb (2), Dy (3), Ho (4), Er (5), Tm (6), Yb (7), Lu (8), or Y (9)]. Magnetic studies revealed weak antiferromagnetic interactions through LnIII-NC-WV bridges and the formation of ferrimagnetically coupled chains at very low temperatures. Moreover, temperature dependencies of magnetic susceptibilities were fitted using the crystal field parameters for Ln(III) ions, determined by the ab initio calculations, yielding magnetic coupling constants in the range of -1 to -5 cm-1. The wide optical transparency of 1-9 has been determined using solid state absorption spectroscopy. Samples exhibited second harmonic (SH) generation properties with SH susceptibilities ranging from 4.7 × 10-12 to 9.4 × 10-11 esu due to the presence of nonlinear optical susceptibility tensor elements (χijk) χzxx, χzyy, χzzz, χzxy, χyyz, χyzx, χxyz, and χxzx, corresponding to space group P21. The determined values were also compared with the results of theoretical calculations and previous reports, indicating a potential relationship between the type of lanthanide ion and the SH intensity.

Abstract
Incorporating chiral organic ligands into cyanido-bridged FeII-NbIV assemblies synthesized chiral spin-crossover complexes, FeII2[NbIV(CN)8](L)8·6H2O (L = R-, S-, or rac-1-(3-pyridyl)ethanol: R-FeNb, S-FeNb, or rac-FeNb). Rietveld analyses based on a racemic complex of rac-FeNb indicate that the chiral complexes have a cubic crystal structure in the I213 space group with a three-dimensional cyanido-bridged FeII-NbIV coordination network. All the complexes exhibit spin crossover between the high-spin (HS) and the low-spin (LS) FeII states without thermal hysteresis. Chiral complexes of R-FeNb and S-FeNb show second harmonic generation (SHG) due to their non-centrosymmetric structure. The I213 space group provides second-order susceptibility tensor elements of χxyz, χyzx, and χzxy, which contribute to SHG. The temperature-dependent second harmonic light intensity change is due to spin crossover between FeIIHS and FeIILS.

Abstract
The 1 : 2 and 1 : 1 Co(ii) complexes of the L ligand (L = 6-(3,5-diamino-2,4,6-triazinyl)2,2'-bipyridine) with formulas [CoII(L)2](ClO4)2·0.5MeCN·Et2O (1) and [CoII(L)(CH3CN)2(H2O)](ClO4)2·MeCN (2) have been prepared. The structural and magnetic characterization of the two compounds shows that they contain octahedral high-spin Co(ii) and present a field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization. 1 has been inserted into a bimetallic oxalate-based network leading to a novel achiral 3D compound of formula [CoII(L)2][MnIICrIII(ox)3]2·(solvate) (3) exhibiting ferromagnetic ordering below 4.6 K. EPR measurements suggest a weak magnetic coupling between the two sublattices.

Abstract
Octacyanidometallates have been successfully employed in the design of heterometallic coordination systems offering a spectacular range of desired physical properties with great potential for technological applications. The [M(CN)8]n- ions comprise a series of complexes of heavy transition metals in high oxidation states, including NbIV, MoIV/V, WIV/V, and ReV. Since the discovery of the pioneering bimetallic {MnII4[MIV(CN)8]2} and {MnII9[MV(CN)8]6} (M = Mo, W) molecules in 2000, octacyanidometallates were fruitfully explored as precursors for the construction of diverse d-d or d-f coordination clusters and frameworks which could be obtained in the crystalline form under mild synthetic conditions. The primary interest in [M(CN)8]n--based networks was focused on their application as molecule-based magnets exhibiting long-range magnetic ordering resulting from the efficient intermetallic exchange coupling mediated by cyanido bridges. However, in the last few years, octacyanidometallate-based materials proved to offer varied and remarkable functionalities, becoming efficient building blocks for the construction of molecular nanomagnets, magnetic coolers, spin transition materials, photomagnets, solvato-magnetic materials, including molecular magnetic sponges, luminescent magnets, chiral magnets and photomagnets, SHG-active magnetic materials, pyro- and ferroelectrics, ionic conductors as well as electrochemical containers. Some of these materials can be processed into the nanoscale opening the route towards the development of magnetic, optical and electronic devices. In this review, we summarise all important achievements in the field of octacyanidometallate-based functional materials, with the particular attention to the most recent advances, and present a thorough discussion on non-trivial structural and electronic features of [M(CN)8]n- ions, which are purposefully explored to introduce desired physical properties and their combinations towards advanced multifunctional materials.

Abstract
Octahedral tris(ethylenediamine) coordination complexes demonstrate helicoidal chirality, due to the arrangement of the ligands around the metal core. The enantiomers of the nitrate salts [Ni(en)3](NO3)2 and [Zn(en)3](NO3)2 spontaneously resolve to form a mixture of conglomerate crystals, which present a reversible phase transition from space group P6322 to enantiomorphic P6522 or P6122, with the latter depending on the handedness of the enantiomer. We report here the synthesis and characterization of [Mn(en)3](NO3)2 and [Co(en)3](NO3)2, which are isostructural to the Zn(II) and Ni(II) derivatives. The Mn(II) analogue undergoes the same phase transition centered at 150(2) K, as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The Co(II) derivative does not demonstrate a phase transition down to 2 K, as evidenced by powder X-ray diffraction and heat capacity measurements. The phase transition does not impact the magnetic properties of the Ni(II) and Mn(II) analogues; these high spin compounds display Curie behavior that is consistent with S = 1 and 5/2, respectively, down to 20 K, while the temperature-dependent magnetic moment for the Co(II) compound reveals a significant orbital contribution.

Abstract
Since the dawn of the century, people have been fascinated by the mysterious force that draws two pieces of lodestone (magnetite, Fe3 O4 ) to each other as well as by property of stilbite (natural zeolite, NaCa4 [Si27 Al9 O72 ]⋅28 H2 O) to generate huge amounts of steam by rapidly heating the material. Nowadays, we know the first effect is addressed by magnetic attraction whereas the second one is related to the reversible sorption/desorption of water from humid air inside porous materials. For a long time, it was thought that these two, at first glance, were disjunctive properties that cannot be combined into one material. Nevertheless, the scientists have once again proved that there are no impossible things. Based on the discovery of the first molecular magnets, the idea to combine magnetic properties with other functionalities such as porosity gained great consideration by scientists from different research fields. Very soon, we witnessed numerous reports of novel multifunctional materials among which we can distinguish humidity-responsive magnets. In this manuscript, the most outstanding results for such systems working at normal temperature and pressure (NTP) will be presented to motivate in-depth research on this topic.

Abstract
The self-assembly of cobalt(II) with purine and octacyanidotungstate(V) results in the formation of the three-dimensional Co3 [W(CN)8 ]2 (purine)2 ⋅8.5H2 O (1) coordination polymer. This compound exhibits humidity-induced variation of the number of water molecules of crystallisation leading to a reversible structural phase transition and the alternation of the long-range ferromagnetic ordering temperature from TC =29 K for the pristine assembly (1) to TC =49 K for the sample stored in a low-humidity atmosphere (1-deh). This phenomenon can be attributed to a reversible change in the hydrogen-bonding network resulting in the modification of the local geometries of cobalt(II) as well as the cyanido bridges.

Abstract
In this communication, we report the post-synthetic functionalization of K+/Ni2+/[Cr(CN)6]3- Prussian blue analogue (PBA) nanoparticles by the 2-aminoanthracene luminophore to yield a bifunctional magneto-luminescent nanosystem. The photoluminescence properties of the fluorophore are found modified by the confinement effect upon adsorption, while the magnetic behavior of PBA is preserved.

Abstract
This contribution deals with the synthesis and utilization of a new pyrazole-based unsymmetrical ligand, 3-(3-carboxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid (H2CPCA), for generating multifunctional materials. The reaction with the Co(II) salt in the presence of a co-ligand 2,9-dimethyl phenanthroline (dmphen) results in the formation of the helical compound {[Co2(dmphen)2(CPCA)2]DMF} n (1). However, two isostructural monomeric complexes are formed {[M(HCPCA)2(H2O)2], M = Co(II), (2) and Mn(II) (3)} when reactions were carried out in the absence of dmphen. Compound 1 shows some highly encouraging single-ion magnetic (SIM) properties. Detailed magnetic studies unveil slow relaxation of magnetization of compound 1, driven by the higher magnetic anisotropy of the cobalt ion, with the energy barrier of ∼9.2 K and relaxation time of 9.1 × 10-5 s, suggesting a SIM behavior. Moreover, UV-vis and fluorescence studies confirm the selective dye degradation of compound 1 with methylene blue both in the presence and absence of H2O2, with the remarkable degradation efficiency of ∼98 and ∼82%, respectively.

Abstract
Chiral bipyrimidine-bridged dinuclear LnIII complexes of general formula [(μ-bipym){((+)-tfacam)3Ln}2] and [(μ-bipym){((-)-tfacam)3Ln}2], have been prepared from the assembly of Ln(AcO)3·nH2O (LnIII = Dy, Gd), (+)/(−)-3-(trifluoroacetyl)camphor enantiopure ligands ((+)/(-)-Htfacam) and bipyrimidine (bipym). The structure and chirality of these complexes have been supported by single-crystal X-Ray diffraction and circular dichroism. The study of the magnetic properties of the GdIII complexes revealed a very weak antiferromagnetic interaction between the GdIII ions through the bipyrimidine bridging ligand. Ab initio CASSCF calculations indicated that the ground Kramers doublet (KD) of both DyIII centers is almost purely axial with the anisotropy axis located close to the two tfacam−ligands at opposite sides of each DyIIIatom, which create an axial crystal field. In keeping with this, ac dynamic measurements indicated slow relaxation of the magnetization at zero field with Ueff = 55.1 K, a pre-exponential factor of τo = 2.17·10−6 s and τQTM = 8 μs. When an optimal dc field of 0.1 T is applied, QTM is quenched and Ueff increases to 75.9 K with τo = 6.16 × 10−7 s. The DyN2O8 coordination spheres and SMM properties of [(μ-bipym){((+)-tfacam)3Ln}2] and their achiral [(Dy(β-diketonate)3)2(μ-bpym)]analogous have been compared and a magneto-structural correlation has been established, which has been supported by theoretical calculations. In contrast to the GdIII compounds, the magnetic exchange interaction between the DyIII ions has been calculated to be very weak and, generally, ferromagnetic in nature. Relaxation mechanisms for [(μ-bipym){((+)-tfacam)3Ln}2] and previously reported analogous have been proposed from ab initio calculations. As the magnetic exchange interaction found to be very weak, the observed magnetization blockade in these systems are primarily dictated by the single ion anisotropy of DyIII ions.

Abstract
A huge increase in the magnetization of two coordination chains based on tetravalent octacyanidometalates (WIV and MoIV ) is observed on irradiation with 436 nm light, while no such behavior is observed for the NbIV analogue. A photomagnetic response based solely on [WIV (CN)8 ]4- is demonstrated for the first time. The observed behavior is attributed to the light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effect at the octacyanidometalate, and to the resulting magnetic exchange ON/OFF photoswitching between the MnII center and the photoinduced high-spin (S=1) WIV or MoIV centers.
