Abstract
An endo-directing group strategy enables enantioselective (3+1+2) cycloadditions that are triggered by carbonylative C-C bond activation of cyclopropanes. These processes are rare examples of cycloadditions where C-C bond oxidative addition is enantiodetermining, and the first where this is achieved within the context of a multicomponent (higher order) reaction design.

Abstract
Herein, we report on selectivity control in C-H activations with alkylidenecyclopropanes (ACPs) for the chemo-selective assembly of cyclopropanes or dienes. Thus, unprecedented rhodaelectro-catalyzed C-H activations were realized with diversely decorated ACPs with a wide substrate scope and electricity as the sole oxidant.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed hydroalkylation reaction of methylenecyclopropanes via highly selective C–C σ-bond scission was achieved under mild conditions, in which simple hydrazones served as carbanion equivalents. Abstract
Herein we describe the development of a highly selective kinetic resolution of cyclobutanones via a Rh-catalyzed "cut-and-sew" reaction with selectivity factor up to 785. This reaction takes place at room temperature with excellent efficiency. Various trans-5,6-fused bicycles and C2-substituted cyclobutanones were obtained with excellent ee's that can be further used as chiral building blocks. DFT calculations reveal the crucial roles of the DTBM-segphos ligand in stabilizing the rate- and enantioselectivity-determining C-C oxidative addition transition state via favorable ligand-substrate dispersion interactions.

Abstract
Electrochemical C-C activations were accomplished by expedient oxidative rhodium(III) catalysis. Thus, oxidative C-C alkenylations proved viable with the aid of electricity, avoiding the use of toxic and/or expensive transition-metal oxidants. The chelation-assisted C-C functionalizations proceeded with ample scope and excellent levels of chemo- and position selectivities within an organometallic C-C activation manifold. Detailed mechanistic studies provided support for a kinetically relevant C-C scission, and a well-defined organometallic rhodium(III) complex was identified as a catalytically competent intermediate. The electrochemical C-C functionalization was devoid of additional electrolytes, could be conducted on a gram scale, and provided position-selective access to densely 1,2,3-substituted arenes, which are not viable by C-H activation.

Abstract
The mechanism and regioselectivity of iridium-mediated cleavage of aromatic C-C bonds in a series of monomethylated, dimethylated, and trimethylated benzenes without the activation of weaker C-H and C-C bonds are clarified using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The calculations explained why the reactivity of the coordinated arene in the observed C-C bond cleavage reaction decreases as the degree of substitution decreases.

Abstract
The development of a catalytic intramolecular "cut-and-sew" transformation between cyclobutanones and alkynes to construct cyclohexenone-fused rings is described herein. The challenge arises from the need for selective coupling at the more sterically hindered proximal position, and can be addressed by using an electron-rich, but less bulky, phosphine ligand. The control experiment and 13 C-labelling study suggest that the reaction may start with cleavage of the less hindered distal C-C bond of cyclobutanones, followed by decarbonylation and CO reinsertion to enable Rh insertion at the more hindered proximal position.

Abstract
![]()
A modular
Rh-catalyzed entry to azepines is outlined. Under a CO
atmosphere, protecting group directed C–C bond activation of
aminocyclopropanes provides rhodacyclopentanones. These
intermediates are effective for intramolecular C–H metalation
of either an N-aryl or N-vinyl unit en route to azepine ring systems.
Thus, byproduct-free heterocyclizations are enabled by sequential
C–C activation and C–H functionalization steps.

Abstract
While cyclopropanes have been explored as synthetically valuable building blocks, their transformation without conjugated substituents or directly substituted heteroatoms remains challenging. The current study describes the iridium-catalysed ring-opening hydrosilylation of cyclopropanes. A nitrogen-based directing group was found to control the reactivity of iridium active species as well as the regiochemistry of carbon-carbon bond cleavage and hydrosilylation.

Abstract
A Rh-catalyzed regiodivergent hydrosilylation of acyl aminocyclopropanes has been developed. Acyl aminocyclopropanes were reacted with hydrosilanes in the presence of Rh catalysts to afford ring-opened hydrosilylated adducts through carbon-carbon (C-C) bond cleavage of the cyclopropane ring. The regioselectivity of the addition of silanes (linear or branched) can be switched by changing the monophosphine ligand. This C-C bond cleavage/hydrosilylation methodology is applicable to the synthesis of silanediol precursors.

Abstract
A highly regioselective rhodium-catalyzed intermolecular carbonylative [2 + 2 + 1] cycloaddition of alkynes using alcohol as a CO surrogate to access 4-methylene-2-cyclopenten-1-ones has been developed. In this transformation, the alcohol performs multiple roles, including generating the Rh-H intermediate, functioning as the CO source, and assisting in the isomerization of the alkyne. Alkynes can act as both the olefin and the alkyne partner in the cyclopentenone core.

Abstract
The transition metal-catalyzed "cut and sew" transformation has recently emerged as a useful strategy for preparing complex molecular structures. After oxidative addition of a transition metal into a carbon-carbon bond, the resulting two carbon termini can be both functionalized in one step via the following migratory insertion and reductive elimination with unsaturated units, such as alkenes, alkynes, allenes, CO and polar multiple bonds. Three- or four-membered rings are often employed as reaction partners due to their high ring strains. The participation of non-strained structures generally relies on cleavage of a polar carbon-CN bond or assistance of a directing group.
