Abstract
We herein report regio- and enantioselective arylation of β,γ-alkynyl-α-imino esters with pyrroloisoquinolines. Using chiral phosphoric acid catalysts, a wide range of novel axially chiral tetrasubstituted α-amino allenoates were accessed in good yields with excellent enantioselectivities. Notably, this transformation occurred preferentially at the sterically more hindered C1-position of pyrroloisoquinolines. The potential scalability and late-stage functionalization demonstrated the utility of the current protocol.

Abstract
Different from electronically matched 1,4- and 1,6-additions, herein, we disclose an electronically mismatched 1,5-conjugate addition process with oximes as the nucleophiles. By this design, the oxime moieties are readily introduced to the γ-position of the electron-deficient substrates in good yields, excellent regioselectivities, and high enantioselectivities. The corresponding allyl oximes are also conveniently transformed into a series of valuable enantioenriched skeletons.

Abstract
A novel and efficient palladium-catalyzed regioselective and stereodivergent ring-closing reaction of aminoenynes with aldehydes and boronic acids or hydrosilane is developed. This three-component reaction allows for the modular synthesis of a series of exocyclic 1,3-dienes bearing 5- to 8-membered saturated N-heterocycles. The reactions utilize a simple Pd-catalyst and work with broad range of aminoenynes, aldehydes and organometallic reagents under mild reaction conditions. The products represent useful intermediates for chemical synthesis due to the versatility of the conjugated diene. Preliminary mechanistic details of the method are also revealed.

Abstract
Palladium hydrides are traditionally employed in hydrofunctionalization (i.e. monofunctionalization) of conjugated dienes and enynes, owning to its facile protic hydropalladation of electron-rich (or neutral) unsaturated bonds. Herein, we report a mild PdH-catalyzed difunctionalization of conjugated dienes and enynes. This protocol is enabled by the chemoselectivity switch of the initial hydropalladation step achieved by visible light enhancement of hydricity of PdH species. This method allows for cascade annulation of dienes and enynes with various easily available and abundant substrates, such as acrylic acids, acrylic amides, and Baylis-Hillman adducts, toward a wide range of alkenyl or alkynyl lactones, lactams, and tetrahydrofurans. This protocol also provides an easy access to complex spiro-fused tricyclic frameworks.

Abstract
An unprecedented nickel-catalysed enantioselective hydromonofluoromethylation of 1,3-enynes is developed, allowing the diverse access to monofluoromethyl-tethered axially chiral allenes, including the challenging deuterated monofluoromethyl (CD2F)-tethered ones that are otherwise inaccessible. It represents the first asymmetric 1,4-hydrofunctionalization of 1,3-enynes using low-cost asymmetric nickel catalysis, thus opening a new avenue for the activation of 1,3-enynes in reaction development. The utility is further verified by its broad substrate scope, good functionality tolerance, mild conditions, and diversified product elaborations toward other valuable fluorinated structures. Mechanistic experiments and DFT calculations provide insights into the reaction mechanism and the origin of the enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric hydrofunctionalizations of unsaturated bonds via π-ƞ3 substitution have emerged as a reliable method to construct stereogenic centers, and mainly rely on the use of heteroatom-based or carbon nucleophiles bearing acidic C-H bonds. In comparison, sp2 carbon nucleophiles are generally not under consideration because of enormous challenges in cleaving corresponding inert sp2 C-H bonds. Here, we report a protocol to achieve asymmetric formal sp2 hydrocarbonations, including hydroalkenylation, hydroallenylation and hydroketenimination of both 1,3-dienes and alkynes via hydroalkylation and Wittig reaction cascade. A series of unachievable motifs via hydrofunctionalizations, such as di-, tri- and tetra-substituted alkenes, di-, tri- and tetra-substituted allenes, and tri-substituted ketenimines in allyl skeletons are all facilely constructed in high regio-, diastereo- and enantioselectivities with this cascade design. Stereodivergent synthesis of all four stereoisomers of 1,4-diene bearing a stereocenter and Z/E-controllable olefin unit highlights the power of present protocol. An interesting mechanistic feature is revealed that alkyne actually undergoes hydrocarbonation via the formation of conjugated diene intermediate, different from conventional viewpoint that the hydrofunctionalization of alkynes only involves allene species.

Abstract
Chain walking has been an efficient route to realize the functionalization of inert C(sp3 )-H bonds, but this strategy is limited to mono-olefin migration and functionalization. Herein, we demonstrate the feasibility of tandem directed simultaneous migrations of remote olefins and stereoselective allylation for the first time. The adoption of palladium hydride catalysis and secondary amine morpholine as solvent is critical for achieving high substrate compatibility and stereochemical control with this method. The protocol is also applicable to the functionalization of three vicinal C(sp3 )-H bonds and thus construct three continuous stereocenters along a propylidene moiety via a short synthetic process. Preliminary mechanistic experiments corroborated the design of simultaneous walking of remote dienes.

Abstract
Nickel-catalyzed hydroamination and hydroalkoxylation of enelactams with unactivated amines and alcohols are reported. This method showed good functional group tolerance and delivered the corresponding hydrofunctionalized products in good to excellent yields (≤98%). Furthermore, an intramolecular hydroalkoxylation of an enelactam was also realized, giving a cyclization product in a good yield. Mechanistic studies indicated that tBuI acts as a hydride donor and radical precursor, which is crucial for the success of the reaction.

Abstract
Herein we report the first example of a Pd-catalyzed highly selective three-component reaction of alkynyl-1,4-diol dicarbonates, organoboronic acids, and malonate anions for the efficient synthesis of trisubstituted 2,3-allenyl malonates not readily available by the known protocols. The reaction demonstrates an excellent regio- and chemo-selectivity for both the oxidative addition referring to the two C-O bonds and the subsequent coupling with the nucleophile with a remarkable functional group compatibility. A series of control experiments confirm a unique mechanism involving β-O elimination forming alka-1,2,3-triene and the subsequent insertion of its terminal C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond into the Ar-Pd bond.

Abstract
ConspectusCatalytic intermolecular hydroamination of alkenes is an atom- and step-economical method for the synthesis of amines, which have important applications as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, catalysts, and materials. However, hydroaminations of alkenes in high yield with high selectivity are challenging to achieve because these reactions often lack a thermodynamic driving force and often are accompanied by side reactions, such as alkene isomerization, telomerization, and oxidative amination. Consequently, early examples of hydroamination were generally limited to the additions of N-H bonds to conjugated alkenes or strained alkenes, and the catalytic hydroamination of unactivated alkenes with late transition metals has only been disclosed recently. Many classes of catalysts, including early transition metals, late transition metals, rare-earth metals, acids, and photocatalysts, have been reported for catalytic hydroamination. Among them, late transition-metal complexes possess several advantages, including their relative ease of handling and their high compatibility of substrates containing polar or sensitive functional groups. This Account describes the progression in our laboratory of hydroaminations catalyzed by late transition-metal complexes from the initial additions of N-H bonds to activated alkenes to the more recent additions to unactivated alkenes. Our developments include the Markovnikov and anti-Markovnikov hydroamination of vinylarenes with palladium, rhodium, and ruthenium, the hydroamination of dienes and trienes with nickel and palladium, the hydroanimation of bicyclic strained alkenes with neutral iridium, and the hydroamination of unactivated terminal and internal alkenes with cationic iridium and ruthenium. Enantioselective hydroaminations of these classes of alkenes to form enantioenriched, chiral amines also have been developed.Mechanistic studies have elucidated the elementary steps and the turnover-limiting steps of these catalytic reactions. The hydroamination of conjugated alkenes catalyzed by palladium, rhodium, nickel, and ruthenium occurs by turnover-limiting nucleophilic attack of the amine on a coordinated benzyl, allyl, alkene, or arene ligand. On the other hand, the hydroamination of unconjugated alkenes catalyzed by ruthenium and iridium occurs by turnover-limiting migratory insertion of the alkene into a metal-nitrogen bond. In addition, pathways for the formation of side products, including isomeric alkenes and enamines, have been identified during our studies. During studies on enantioselective hydroamination, the reversibility of the hydroamination has been shown to erode the enantiopurity of the products. Based on our mechanistic understandings, new generations of catalysts that promote catalytic hydroaminations with higher rates, chemoselectivity, and enantioselectivity have been developed. We hope that our discoveries and mechanistic insights will facilitate the further development of catalysts that promote selective, practical, and efficient hydroamination of alkenes.

Abstract
An atom-economical intermolecular iron-catalyzed oxyamination of alkenes is described herein. The insertion of oxygenated and nitrogenated moieties from the hydroxylamine substrate was observed with full regio- and chemo-selectivity for terminal alkenes in good yields. HFIP as a solvent appeared to have a synergistic effect with the iron catalyst to promote the formation of the oxyaminated products. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest a pathway going through an aziridination reaction followed by an in situ ring opening.

Abstract
The reaction mechanism of the Pd/Senphos-catalyzed trans-hydroboration reaction of 1,3-enynes was investigated using various experimental techniques, including deuterium and double crossover labeling experiments, X-ray crystallographic characterization of model reaction intermediates, and reaction progress kinetic analysis. Our experimental data are in support of an unusual outer-sphere oxidative addition mechanism where the catecholborane serves as a suitable electrophile to activate the Pd0-bound 1,3-enyne substrate to form a Pd-η3-π-allyl species, which has been determined to be the likely resting state of the catalytic cycle. Double crossover labeling of the catecholborane points toward a second role played by the borane as a hydride delivery shuttle. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the rate-limiting transition state of the reaction is the hydride abstraction by the catecholborane shuttle, which is consistent with the experimentally determined rate law: rate = k[enyne]0[borane]1[catalyst]1. The computed activation free energy ΔG‡ = 17.7 kcal/mol and KIE (kH/kD = 1.3) are also in line with experimental observations. Overall, this work experimentally establishes Lewis acids such as catecholborane as viable electrophilic activators to engage in an outer-sphere oxidative addition reaction and points toward this underutilized mechanism as a general approach to activate unsaturated substrates.

Abstract
The straightforward construction of stereogenic centers bearing unprotected functional groups, as in nature, has been a persistent pursuit in synthetic chemistry. Abundant applications of free enantioenriched allyl alcohol and allyl hydroxylamine motifs have made the asymmetric hydration and hydroaminoxylation of conjugated dienes from water and hydroxylamine, respectively, intriguing and efficient routes that have, however, been unachievable thus far. A fundamental challenge is the failure to realize transition-metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-O bond constructions via hydrofunctionalization of conjugated dienes. Here, we perform a comprehensive study toward the stereoselective formal hydration and hydroaminoxylation of conjugated dienes by synthesizing a set of new P,N-ligands and identifying an aryl-derived oxime as a surrogate for both water and hydroxylamine. Asymmetric hydroalkoxylation with new P,N-ligands is also elucidated. Furthermore, versatile derivatizations following hydration provide indirect but concise routes to formal hydrophenoxylation, hydrofluoroalkoxylation, and hydrocarboxylation of conjugated dienes that have been unreported thus far. Finally, a ligand-to-ligand hydrogen transfer process is proposed based on the results of preliminary mechanistic experiments.

Abstract
An efficient strategy for preventing the β-hydride elimination of alkylpalladium species by ligation of the palladium with adjacent amino-group was developed, which enabled a novel palladium-catalyzed ring-closing aminoalkylative amination of unactivated aminoenynes. The reaction is amenable to aminals, as well as aliphatic aldehydes with secondary amines, which provides straightforward access to structurally diverse exocyclic allenic amines bearing 5 to 12-membered N-heterocycles. With chiral phosphoramidite-ligated palladium complex as the catalyst, an enantioselective variant was achieved with up to 93 % ee. Simultaneously, synthetic transformations of the chiral products were also conducted to afford structurally unique spirodiamines including one pharmaceutically active molecule via axial-to-central chirality transfer.

Abstract
The merger of photoredox and transition-metal catalysis has evolved as a robust platform in organic synthesis over the past decade. The stereoselective 1,4-functionalization of 1,3-enynes, a prevalent synthon in synthetic chemistry, could afford valuable chiral allene derivatives. However, tremendous efforts have been focused on the ionic reaction pathway. The radical-involved asymmetric 1,4-functionalization of 1,3-enynes remains a prominent challenge. Herein, we describe the asymmetric three-component 1,4-dialkylation of 1,3-enynes via dual photoredox and chromium catalysis to provide chiral allenols. This method features readily available starting materials, broad substrate scope, good functional group compatibility, high regioselectivity, and simultaneous control of axial and central chiralities. Mechanistic studies suggest that this reaction proceeds through a radical-involved redox-neutral pathway.

Abstract
Here we report a three-component auto-tandem reaction of 1,3-enyne-tethered carbonyls, organoboronic reagents, and suitable nucleophiles catalyzed by palladium, proceeding through consecutive intramolecular vinylogous addition, Suzuki coupling, and allylic alkylation. This process exhibited high chemo- and regioselectivity with 1,3,4-trifunctionalization of the 1,3-enyne motif, and a wide range of 2H-chromenes, 1,2-dihydroquinolines, benzo[b]oxepines, 1,7-annulated indoles, and other frameworks were efficiently constructed in fair to good yields and E/Z selectivity.

Abstract
Pd-catalyzed sequential hydroamination of readily available 1,3-enynes is reported. The redox-neutral process provides an efficient route to synthesize a broad scope of imidazolidinones, thiadiazolidines, and imidazolidines. Asymmetric sequential hydroamination generates a series of synthetically valuable, enantioenriched imidazolidinones. Mechanistic studies revealed that the transformation occurred via an intermolecular enyne hydroamination pathway to give an allene intermediate. Subsequent intramolecular hydroamination of the allene intermediate proceeded under the Curtin-Hammett principle to provide enantioenriched imidazolidinone products.

Abstract
Hydroaminoalkylation is a powerful, atom-economic catalytic reaction for the reaction of amines with alkenes and alkynes. This C-H functionalization reaction allows for the atom-economic alkylation of amines using simple alkenes or alkynes as the alkylating agents. This transformation has significant potential for transformative approaches in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and fine chemical industries in the preparation of selectively substituted amines and N-heterocycles and shows promise in materials science for the synthesis of functional and responsive aminated materials. Different early transition-metal, late transition-metal, and photoredox catalysts mediate hydroaminoalkylation by distinct mechanistic pathways. These mechanistic insights have resulted in the development of new catalysts and reaction conditions to realize hydroaminoalkylation with a broad range of substrates: activated and unactivated, terminal and internal, C-C double and triple bonds with aryl or alkyl primary, secondary, or tertiary amines, including N-heterocyclic amines. By deploying select catalysts with specific substrate combinations, control over regioselectivity, diastereoselectivity, and enantioselectivity has been realized. Key barriers to widespread adoption of this reaction include air and moisture sensitivity for early transition-metal catalysts as well as a heavy dependence on amine protecting or directing groups for late transition-metal or photocatalytic routes. Advances in improved catalyst robustness, substrate scope, and regio-/stereoselective reactions with early- and late transition-metal catalysts, as well as photoredox catalysis, are highlighted, and opportunities for further catalyst and reaction development are included. This perspective shows that hydroaminoalkylation has the potential to be a disruptive and transformative strategy for the synthesis of selectively substituted amines and N-heterocycles from simple amines and alkenes.

Abstract
Different from the traditional two-electron oxidative addition-transmetalation-reductive elimination coupling strategy, visible light has been successfully integrated into transition metal-catalyzed coupling reaction of propargylic alcohol derivatives highly selectively forming allenenitriles: specifically speaking, visible light-mediated Cu-catalyzed cyanation of propargylic oxalates has been realized for the general, efficient, and exclusive syntheses of di-, tri, and tetra-substituted allenenitriles bearing various synthetically versatile functional groups. A set of mechanistic studies, including fluorescence quenching experiments, cyclic voltammetric measurements, radical trapping experiments, control experiments with different photocatalyst, and DFT calculation studies have proven that the current reaction proceeds via visible light-induced redox-neutral reductive quenching radical mechanism, which is a completely different approach as compared to the traditional transition metal-catalyzed two-electron oxidative addition processes.

Abstract
Here we report that a palladium(0) complex can mediate the unprecedented intermolecular coupling reaction of 1,3-enynes and N-sulfonylimines regio- and stereoselectively, and the resultant palladium(II) species undergo a cascade Suzuki reaction with organoboronic reagents. The substrate scope is substantial for the asymmetric three-component process, and the enantioenriched all-carbon tetra-substituted alkene derivatives are efficiently constructed in a modular and cis-difunctionalized manner. Control experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations support the idea that the palladium(0) acts as a π-Lewis base catalyst by chemoselectively forming η2-complexes with the alkene moiety of 1,3-enynes, thus increasing the nucleophilicity of the alkyne group based on the principle of vinylogy, to attack imines enantioselectively. The preferable formation of aza-palladacyclopentene intermediates, via a 90° single bond rotation from the resultant π-allyl complex, guarantees the formal cis-carbopalladation of alkyne group. In addition, a palladium(0)-catalyzed enantioselective reductive coupling of 1,3-enyne and imine is realized by using formic acid as hydrogen transfer reagent.

Direct access to spirocycles by Pd/WingPhos-catalyzed enantioselective cycloaddition of 1,3-enynes. Nat Commun 2021; 12:5667. Abstract
Spirocycles play an important role in drug discovery and development. The direct, catalytic, and enantioselective synthesis of spirocycles from readily available starting materials and in an atom economic manner remains a highly sought-after task in organic synthesis. Herein, an enantioselective Pd-hydride-catalyzed cycloaddition method for the synthesis of spirocyclic compounds directly from two classes of commonly available starting materials, 1,3-enynes and cyclic carbon−hydrogen (C−H) bonds, is reported. The reactions employ a chiral Pd/WingPhos catalyst to both suppress the formation of bis-allenyl by-products and control the stereoselectivity. 1,3-Enynes are used as dielectrophilic four-carbon units in the cycloaddition reactions, which also enables an enyne substrate-directed enantioselectivity switch with good levels of stereocontrol. The present spirocycle synthesis tolerates a broad range of functional groups of 1,3-enyne substrates, including alcohols, esters, nitriles, halides, and olefins. A variety of diverse cyclic nucleophiles, including pharmaceutically important heterocycles and carbocycles, can be flexibly incorporated with spiro scaffolds. Spirocycles are traditionally difficult structures to synthesize due to the congested nature of the central atom. Here the authors show a method to synthesize quaternary carbon spirocycles in one step from 1,3-enynes and pyrazolidine-type heterocycles, both relatively unactivated structures, proceeding via palladium catalysis.

Abstract
Herein, a highly regioselective alkylation of propargylic carbonates for trisubstituted allenes with alkyl 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives (1,4-DHPs) is developed via a photoredox/nickel dual-catalyzed process, which represents the first direct approach to access alkylated allene products without alkyl organometallic reagents. This method features a broad substrate scope and mild conditions. A hypothetical mechanism with an alkyl radical and an allenyl Ni(III) species is proposed. Benzylation products were also obtained to be the complement building blocks for the potential synthesis of pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
Chirality is one of the most important types of steric information in nature. In addition to central chirality, axial chirality has been catching more and more attention from scientists. However, although much attention has recently been paid to the creation of axial chirality and the chirality transfer of allenes, no study has been disclosed as to the memory of such an axial chirality. The reason is very obvious: the chiral information is stored over three carbon atoms. Here, the first example of the memory of chirality (MOC) of allenes has been recorded, which was realized via an optically active alkylidene-π-allyl iridium intermediate, leading to a highly stereoselective electrophilic allenylation with amines. Specifically, we have established the transition metal-mediated highly stereoselective 2,3-allenylation of amines by using optically active 2,3-allenyl carbonates under the catalysis of a nonchiral iridium(iii) complex. This method is compatible with sterically bulky and small substituents on both amines and 2,3-allenyl carbonates and furnishes the desired optically active products with a high efficiency of chirality transfer. Further mechanistic experiments reveal that the isomerization of the optically active alkylidene-π-allyl iridium intermediate is very slow. Chirality is one of the most important types of steric information in nature.![]()

Abstract
We disclose herein the first example of merging photoredox catalysis and copper catalysis for radical 1,4-carbocyanations of 1,3-enynes. Alkyl N-hydroxyphthalimide esters are utilized as radical precursors, and the reported mild and redox-neutral protocol has broad substrate scope and remarkable functional group tolerance. This strategy allows for the synthesis of diverse multi-substituted allenes with high chemo- and regio-selectivities, also permitting late stage allenylation of natural products and drug molecules.

Abstract
Herein we report the copper-catalyzed silylation of propargylic difluorides to generate axially chiral, tetrasubstituted monofluoroallenes in both good yields (27 examples >80%) and enantioselectivities (82-98% ee). Compared to previously reported synthetic routes to axially chiral allenes (ACAs) from prochiral substrates, a mechanistically distinct reaction has been developed: the enantiodiscrimination between enantiotopic fluorides to set an axial stereocenter. DFT calculations and vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) suggest that β-fluoride elimination from an alkenyl copper intermediate likely proceeds through a syn-β-fluoride elimination pathway rather than an anti-elimination pathway. The effects of the C1-symmetric Josiphos-derived ligand on reactivity and enantioselectivity were investigated. Not only does this report showcase that alkenyl copper species (like their alkyl counterparts) can undergo β-fluoride elimination, but this elimination can be achieved in an enantioselective fashion.

Abstract
A novel visible-light-induced 1,4-hydroxysulfonylation of vinyl enynes with sulfonyl chlorides has been established, providing a highly efficient protocol to access multisubstituted sulfonyl allenic alcohols. Control experiments and mechanistic studies disclose that the target products result from sequential reactions of hydroxyl and tosyl radicals, among which chloride anion plays a key role to generate the requisite •OH, thus bridging water and enynes. Moreover, the vinyl pendant is believed to decisively affect the site-selectivity of hydroxyl radical.

Abstract
This Review compiles the evolution, mechanistic understanding, and more recent advances in enantioselective Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution and decarboxylative and oxidative allylic substitutions. For each reaction, the catalytic data, as well as examples of their application to the synthesis of more complex molecules, are collected. Sections in which we discuss key mechanistic aspects for high selectivity and a comparison with other metals (with advantages and disadvantages) are also included. For Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution, the catalytic data are grouped according to the type of nucleophile employed. Because of the prominent position of the use of stabilized carbon nucleophiles and heteronucleophiles, many chiral ligands have been developed. To better compare the results, they are presented grouped by ligand types. Pd-catalyzed asymmetric decarboxylative reactions are mainly promoted by PHOX or Trost ligands, which justifies organizing this section in chronological order. For asymmetric oxidative allylic substitution the results are grouped according to the type of nucleophile used.

Abstract
This review will outline the recent advances in chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective (cross-) dimerization of terminal alkynes to generate 1,3-enynes using different types of iron and cobalt catalysts with altering oxidation states of the active species. In general, the used ligands have a crucial effect on the stereoselectivity of the reaction; e.g., bidentate phosphine ligands in cobalt catalysts can generate the E-configured head-to-head dimerization product, while tridentate phosphine ligands can generate either the Z-configured head-to-head dimerization product or the branched head-to-tail isomer. Furthermore, the hydroalkynylation of silyl-substituted acetylenes as donors to internal alkynes as acceptors will be discussed using cobalt and nickel catalysts.

Abstract
An unprecedented 19-membered allenic macrolide archangiumide (1) was discovered from the myxobacterium Archangium violaceum SDU8 by integrating NMR-based metabolic profiling and genome mining. Its biosynthesis pathway was proposed based on the architectural analysis of the encoding trans-AT PKS genes and validated by isotope labeling. The methodology of combing 2D NMR-based metabolic profiling and bioinformatics-aided structure prediction, as exemplified by this study, is anticipated to improve discovery efficiency of a broader range of microbial "dark matter".

Abstract
Changing the aromatic core of C3-symmetric tris(ferrocenyl)arene-based tris-phosphanes has profound effects on their coordination behaviour towards gold(i). Depending on the arene (s-triazine, benzene, or trifluorobenzene), four different coordination modes can be distinguished and their preference has been rationalised using computational methods. The corresponding 1 : 1 ligand-to-metal complexes, studied by variable-temperature NMR spectroscopy, revealed fluctional behaviour in solution. Given the presence of up to three or six ferrocenylene spacers per complex, their electrochemistry was investigated. The redox-responsive nature of the complexes can be advantageously exploited in the catalytic ring-closing isomerisation of N-(2-propyn-1-yl)benzamide, where the benzene-based 2 : 3 ligand-to-metal complex has been shown to display multiple activity states depending on the degree of (reversible) oxidation in a preliminary trial.
