Abstract
The impact of immobilization of oxazaborolidines supported on silica via different substituents on the boron and nitrogen atoms is evaluated in the enantioselective reduction of acetophenone. The performances of the homogeneous analog oxazaborolidines and silica supported-ones are compared by varying different parameters. This article deals with the synthesis, characterization and catalytic evaluation of silica-supported oxazaborolidines, their recycling capabilities and regeneration limitations.

Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric reduction of prochiral ketones with hydrides such as boranes and borohydrides is one of the simplest and the most convenient methods for obtaining chiral alcohols. This tutorial review describes the most significant advances recently achieved for enhancing the enantioselectivity and practicability of the reduction using this methodology. The review covers the development of new homogeneous and/or immobilized catalysts for asymmetric reduction using borane or borohydride reagents and practical improvement of the well-known oxazaborolidine (OAB)-catalysed reduction through developing more stable, cost effective and recoverable OABs, scalable and environmental friendly borane sources, and one-pot procedures for the reduction.

Abstract
[reaction: see text]. An operationally simple and recoverable fluorous CBS methodology was developed. The in situ-generated fluorous oxazaborolidine efficiently catalyzed the reduction of ketones with high enantioselectivity and reactivity. The subsequent recycling of the fluorous prolinol precatalyst was achieved by fluorous solid-phase extraction.

Abstract
An efficient and highly stereoselective total synthesis of d-biotin has been achieved starting from cis-1,3-dibenzyl-2-imidazolidone-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (2) with an overall yield of 33%. Polymer-supported oxazaborolidine-catalyzed asymmetric reduction of meso-cyclic imide 4 constitutes the key synthetic step in introducing stereogenic centers into the d-biotin molecule.
